PHI PHI DANGEROUS ? Posted: Sat November 7, 2009 03:35 PM UTC
on WILKIPEDIA on Google about Phi Phi: "As of 2009, Phi-phi Islands are under investigation after two tourists, one American girl, Jill St. Onge and one Norwegian tourist, Julie Michelle Berghiem mysteriously died while staying at the Laleena Guesthouse. Their cause of death is unknown, however alcohol, drugs, and food poisoning have been all ruled out of the case...and...about three years ago a joung Belgian boy have been shot by gun on the head by a employee of the Hippy bar...Is Koh Phi Phi dangerous?

ITINERARY Posted: Fri November 6, 2009 11:09 AM UTC
Hello again
Just some advice please on our itinerary.... is this feasible and would you make any recommendations:
1st stop Bangkok - 2 days
OVERNIGHT TRAIN TO CHIANG MAI
2nd stop Chiang Mai - 4 days
FLIGHT TO KOH SAMUI
3rd stop KOH SAMUI- 9 DAYS (WOULD YOU RECOMMEND ANY SIDE TRIPS FOR THOSE OF US WHO GET TIRED OF THE BEACH?)
Half of our group departs here and we have another 2 weeks left in Thailand.
Would you suggest an overland trip to Phuket and the islands? Are there places of interest along the way to stay over at?
We have to make our way back to bangkok, so should we rather to a two week overland trip back up...any places of interest on that route?
Thanks again!!

family accommodation Posted: Fri November 6, 2009 10:52 AM UTC
Hi all
We're planning a group family holiday next year and I am looking for some pointers on accommodation. I have been trawling all the websites but would prefer some personal recommendations. We are a group of 4 families with an assortment of kids (all girls) aged 9-17 - so need a swimming pool and aircon and would like some sort of family room or interleading sleeping areas for parents and kids. Also want central accommodation, so we can walk to the main activities, but want to steer clear of girlie bar scenes.
Bangkok (near enough to walk to kho san road)
Chiang mai (near enough to walk to markets)
Koh Samui - Chaweng beach - looking for wooden type villas in garden setting for socialising, but on beachfront.
Most of the sites i've looked at quote for 2 adults with extra bed... but not family 4 sleepers?
Budget 2000-3000 baht price range.
Thanks so much!!

Suggestions for a short vacation in Chiang Mai Posted: Thu November 5, 2009 03:51 AM UTC
Would be grateful for suggestions for my upcoming trip to Chiang Mai sometime end Nov/early Dec this year. There will be 6 of us - wife, 2 kids (teenagers) plus my in-laws who are elderly and while they are still relatively mobile they are unable to be out the entire day. So I'll be looking for a hotel somewhere in the city area.
Activities that may be of interest:
For my kids, something adventurous or unique would appeal to them. For my wife & in-laws, something cultural (say, visiting temples), shopping, crafts maybe, & perhaps short day-trips out of Chiang Mai.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Everyone. We are going to Bangkok next week 11/14/09 and would lke to make some reservations for a dinner cruise and the Siam Niramit show. Found some great prices on hotels2thailand.com but I can't find anyone who has used that site. Since they require a credit card I'm a bit concerned. Does anyone kow anything about that site? If not ,any suggestions on those two ventures?

Sahthiya in Ko Phangan or Santiburi in Koh Samui for honeymoon? Posted: Wed November 4, 2009 02:29 PM UTC
Hello All, This is my first time posting on this forum. I hope to get some feedback about these 2 resorts. I am planning my honeymoon in Thailand and wanted to know which of these 2 Resorts are more luxurious. I am looking for a quiet romantic 7 day trip. I looked through the pictures for both resorts and I love the vibes I am getting from Santhiya. Fro several reviews I gathered that Santiburi is also really great but I feel the rooms in Santhiya or Melati are much bigger and many have attached private pools. Whic of the 3 resorts would you recomend for an ultimate honeymoon getaway?
Santhiya
Melati
Santiburi
Thanks!!!!

Where to stay Posted: Wed November 4, 2009 07:10 AM UTC
Hi,
I have just booked a flight to Phuket for next Tuesday for myself and my partner. But have absolutely no idea where to stay. I've looked up Asianrooms.com and there are so many different hotels to choose from. I have no idea where to start.
We love snorkelling, It would be lovely to stay on a beach front or somewhere very near, we don't really like partying into the night, but would like to be near some food places, bars etc, Our budget is low to mid range. But fancy a hotel rather than back packing this time.
Any Help would be wonderful
Many Thanks,
Emma

Ko Samui Questions Posted: Wed November 4, 2009 12:43 AM UTC
Hi I am heading back to Ko Saumi in November 2010 to celebrate my 20th wedding anniversary.
Last time we were there it was July. I understand November is the wet season but I was wondering what the weather is generally like? Does it rain all the time or is there sunshine and heavy downfalls?
I was also wondering what people may suggest as must see's. We did alot of the the tourist stuff last time but I am sure we missed things.
Looking forward to your replies

Khao Yai National Park Posted: Tue November 3, 2009 09:49 AM UTC
Hi, I'm planning to make a 2D1N trip to Khao Yai National Park from Bangkok. About accommodation, I looked around google but I couldn't really find much opinions on where's good to stay, except that it'd be a good idea to stay in one of the lodges outside the park and book a private tour there, which I'm in favour of. Anyone been there?

hotel in phuket Posted: Mon November 2, 2009 08:42 PM UTC
Hello!!
First trip to Thailand next February.
Ill stay 7 nights in Phuket. A friend of mine highly recommended the Dusit thani hotel on Bang Tao Beach.
Im looking for a : very clean beach where I can walk on white sand. Not too crowded and if possible not too far from restaurants (evening).
Having this in mind would you recommend the Dusit Thani?
I do not want to become a prisonneer in my hotel - I want to go out for dinner, nightlife and shopping(not be obliged to use a taxi 20 minutes each ride to go for dinner)
THANKS

Recommended locations/places for New year eve (2009) Posted: Sun November 1, 2009 10:03 PM UTC
Hi,
I am going to Bangkok between 28th Dec 2009 and 2nd Jan 2010.
I am wondering whereabout are the best places to celebrate new year eve 2009 with local people?
Some people said it is by the river. some said it's Siam square etc.
I couldn't verify those but I ask people here if they know the best places to count down and celebrate the new year celebration in open air (no, not interested in those clubs).
Many thanks!
Cheers,
D

serviced apartment with 2 bedrooms Posted: Sun November 1, 2009 02:05 AM UTC
Hi! We're travelling to Bangkok with our 3 kids by the end of January 2010. Can anyone recommend a reasonable 2-br apartment in a convenient location? Is anyone familiar with Abloom Serviced Apartments? They have very reasonable rates (free night for a minimum of 4 night stay) but I'm kinda worried about the location.

Recommendation for hotel room near Suvarni Airport Posted: Sat October 31, 2009 06:55 PM UTC
Hello. I'm arriving at Suvarnibhumi and have only one day in Bangkok before flying out to a neighboring country so would like a room at a nice hotel or guesthouse closer to the airport but which is still close to maybe a cinema/movie theatre. This time I don't need to be in central Bangkok and would prefer to avoid the 'traffic'. My preference is below 1,200B, if possible but am willing to pay more if the amenities are well worth it.
Thanks for your help!
