| Asturias | Information about Buses from Oviedo Posted: Sun June 29, 2008 10:36 PM UTC
Hi,
I like to find out if there is any bus transport at all from Oviedo to the villages in the mountains south west of Oviedo? EG to Parque Natural de Somiedo along AS227, To Cangas de Narcea on AS15 annd AS213, And other routes in this area. Is it possible to connect with other busses south to Villablino and Ponferrada? If these buses even exist it would be great to find an online schedule! Thanks Mike |

| Asturias | Camping in Asturias Posted: Sun March 23, 2008 01:18 AM UTC
Hi Everyone
My hubby and I are travelling to Asturias in June (arriving from the ferry in Santander) we will be there for 8 days altogether driving around in our car and would like to explore as much of it as we can as it looks so beautiful. I wandered if any of you know any really good camp sites as we will be camping all the time. I have done a lot of research on the internet but can't really find any info apart from a couple of addresses. Would love to hear from anyone who has been to any or knows of any that stand apart from the rest i.e. nice surroundings, clean, big pitch etc etc. I also heard there is one in the national park but can't seem to find it? Please can anyone help me, I would be very grateful, this is my first time in Spain and I am so looking forward to it. Thanks Shell |

| Asturias | Jurassic Museum of Asturias Posted: Sun March 2, 2008 11:11 AM UTC
Hi
My 7 year old son has asked to go to the Jurassic Museum in Asturias. I've identified the museum and the sites that he would like to see, but i've no idea where to stay in the area!! I assume that we can fly to Ranon (OVD), where is the best place to stay to visit the museum and see the surrounding area, we're hoping to go for a long weekend in May if possible. Any help that you can give me with this is much appreciated! Thanks Sam |

| Gijón | 1 night in Gijon! Posted: Mon January 28, 2008 10:46 PM UTC
hi guys,
yes it'd that time of the year again! My family and I are off to Spain in August, yippee! Just wondered if anyone could recommend a suitable hotel for 1 night only in or around Gijon, as we have 1 night to kill before our villa is available and Gijon seems to be the perfect midway point. Would like to know if any hotels offer family rooms/adjoining room as boys will be 12 and 15 and getting too large to sleep in makedo camp beds. Not sure if hotels would allow them a room on their own either. We're not fussed about too many 'facilities' or stars as long as the hotel is comfortable and friendly. All suggestions greatly received! Happy travelling Thanx |

| Gijón | Gijon visit with kids! HELP! Posted: Wed December 19, 2007 04:20 AM UTC
We are visiting Gijon over christmas and new years with KIDS! 4 year old, 2 year old and 8months old.
Are there any place we should visit? Any playgrounds? Please give me some recommendation on family friendly (not classy) restaurant that serves good food. Thank you thank you thank you. I am so excited to visit such a beautiful city. Also, if anyone knows.. Is it easy to get around town by bus with kids? If we taxi, I thought we would need child car seat. (am I right?) so, bus is the only option seems like. If there are any recommendation, comments, advice, please let me know. |

| Oviedo | Car Hire Posted: Thu October 18, 2007 02:12 PM UTC
Is there a local car hire firm I can use (other than the usual suspects)in Ovideo or near airport. I need the car for four weeks and would rather give my money to a local car rental agent than a mulit national.
Thanks |

| Asturias | driving in the first week of march Posted: Mon October 8, 2007 11:07 AM UTC
we have never been to this part of spain, and are planning to drive for two weeks (asturias to, eventually, barcelona, starting in madrid). will we be able to navigate the roads? should we be worried about weather? we would very much like to drive through the Picos de Europa National Park... is this unrealistic for this time of year?
thanks for any input! |

| Asturias | Base in Asturias Posted: Wed May 30, 2007 03:02 PM UTC
Hi there, I am going for a brief visit to Northern Spain (5 days), flying into Asturias / Oviedo. We are keen to have as good a look as possible as the different aspects of the region - beaches (Gijon, Cudillero perhaps), villages, towns and the mountains (Picos de Europa). I have previously travelled in the north east so don't need to return to places such as Santillana del Mar etc. My question is this - what do you believe is the best place to stay as a base for the region, or would staying in two different places for 2-3 days each be better - if so, where towns would you choose for these two bases?
Thanks for you help :-) |

| Asturias | Confused, please help..? Posted: Wed January 31, 2007 06:03 AM UTC
Hola,
I've already spent the whole last week looking for detailed info on Asturias, but I'm still confused. My trip is going to be on beginning of May. How's the weather by then? I couldn't find any info regarding this. Few VT's guides and some other sites suggested renting a car to explore the beautiful nature of Asutrias. But in my trip, I only have 2 days and I'm there for the nature. What are your suggestion's, guys? If I only have 2 days, should I stay in Oviedo, Gigon or Avile? How about visiting Pico de Europa? How can I make it if I stayed in one of these cities? Any input, suggestion or help is highly appreciated. Thanks, |

| Asturias | Parador Fuentes De Posted: Wed November 1, 2006 01:32 AM UTC
Hi, I'm traveling to Asturias in June 2007 and would like to visit the Parador Fuentes De. Here is my question: How is the road to get to the Parador? Is it too treacherous? I'll probably be driving from Oviedo. Also, if you have any experience with Paradores, a few weeks ago they had seniors and young adult rates of 45 euros per person, but now I don't see that option any more, is it over?

| Asturias | From Asturias Airport to Luarca: where to get on the Feve train? Posted: Thu September 21, 2006 06:51 PM UTC
Will be going to Luarca, the first week of October.
Am flying in from Madrid to Asturias Airport. Taking the bus to Oviedo and then getting on the Feve train to Luarca is time consuming, because of the time schedule. Taking a taxi to Aviles and - there- taking the Feve train direction Ferrol makes more sense? Or is there an Alsa bus from the Airport to Luarca? (This info I have not been able to find online.) Am an older deaf lady, trying to get as much information as possible. Would appreciate it very much to receive some help. Greetings from Holland/ Lee |

| Candás | Information Posted: Thu June 8, 2006 07:24 PM UTC
Would welcome any advice or information from VT members on Candas which is a few miles west of Gijon. There's nothing on the forum but hopefully some of you have been there. We have digs and it's just a question of what to do. We want to walk up to Cap Penas. Is that possible? Where else would people reccomend us to visit. We'll have transport but it is a last resort as we would prefer to walk. 20 miles is well within our range. Any ideas on coastal walks would be apreciated. Cheers.

| Asturias | Transport from Llanes, Asturias Posted: Wed March 8, 2006 12:10 PM UTC
We are planning a trip to Green Spain, for late May or June this year. We don't really want to be in a big city, something quieter with nice scenery, but we still want to be able to get about.
Llanes looks like a reasonable option at the moment. We were wondering how good the transport links were as we won't have a car. I've looked at the alsa and feve websites, are there others I should look at ? Do you think it would be possible to do daytrips to the Picos de Europa - maybe Covadonga ? Any other advice on places to visit around Llanes ( or if there is a better place for a base ) and things to do would be much appreciated. Saludos |
