Does anyone know what is going on with the Playa Del Sol Los Cabos? They closed for the summer, but there is no scheduled date to reopen. There is a company in Florida that claims they bought the property, but the Playa group says they still own it. We have a reservation over spring break 2010, and I've very concerned. Please reply if you have any info, or if you've recently had a reservation for this property while they were closed. Did they move you?
Thanks!!
Hello. We are planning to visit Cabo around the end of June/early July. I believe the temperature will be in the high 80s. What is the humidity level around that time? Thanks
We are staying near Infiesto thru most of June and July this year and whilst there my daughter (19) fancies spending a few days on her own in Bordeaux to improve her French language skills. I've spent the last few hours checking out the ALSA, RENFE, FEVE, TGV sites and it looks like an absolute nightmare to do a journey like this. There are multiple changes (train to train, train to bus, bus to train etc)and it seems to take around 18 hours!Frankly, it would be easier for me to drive her there (but I suspect that she wouldn't be too keen on that).
Am I missing something? Is there an easier way to do what should, on the face of it , be a relatively simple journey? If anyone has done a trip like this (or even Oviedo to Bordeaux or Santander to Bordeaux) would you mind sharing how you did it? Any alternative suggestions would be very welcome! Thanks in advance.
Does anyone know if there is a bus or another form of public transportation from Oviedo to the mountains for a day of skiing??? Also, how far is it from Oviedo to the mountains???
Hay una forma de transporte publico o autobus desde Oviedo a las pistas para esquiar???
we're off to green spain very soon and wondered if the new therapy centre in gijon was fully open and what the general price was as we are a family of four and fancy hanging out by the pool (play area bit too) not bothered about actually booking treatments as yet. the website has no price list.
also wondered about the aquarium as website in spanish and i've tried to understand it but to no avail as i only know basic stuff!!
also any other info about what to do with family (2 boys 12 and 15) what be greatly received - especially about nearby beaches that have some amenities such as toilets and eateries.
I like to find out if there is any bus transport at all from Oviedo to the villages in the mountains south west of Oviedo?
EG to Parque Natural de Somiedo along AS227,
To Cangas de Narcea on AS15 annd AS213,
And other routes in this area.
Is it possible to connect with other busses south to Villablino and Ponferrada?
If these buses even exist it would be great to find an online schedule!
Buenas,
Este verano voy a ir a Salinas y queria saber si alguien conoce alguna escuela de submarinismo para sacar el PADI por la zona de Aviles.
Muchas gracias!!

Hi Everyone
My hubby and I are travelling to Asturias in June (arriving from the ferry in Santander) we will be there for 8 days altogether driving around in our car and would like to explore as much of it as we can as it looks so beautiful. I wandered if any of you know any really good camp sites as we will be camping all the time. I have done a lot of research on the internet but can't really find any info apart from a couple of addresses. Would love to hear from anyone who has been to any or knows of any that stand apart from the rest i.e. nice surroundings, clean, big pitch etc etc. I also heard there is one in the national park but can't seem to find it? Please can anyone help me, I would be very grateful, this is my first time in Spain and I am so looking forward to it.
My 7 year old son has asked to go to the Jurassic Museum in Asturias. I've identified the museum and the sites that he would like to see, but i've no idea where to stay in the area!!
I assume that we can fly to Ranon (OVD), where is the best place to stay to visit the museum and see the surrounding area, we're hoping to go for a long weekend in May if possible.
Any help that you can give me with this is much appreciated!
yes it'd that time of the year again! My family and I are off to Spain in August, yippee! Just wondered if anyone could recommend a suitable hotel for 1 night only in or around Gijon, as we have 1 night to kill before our villa is available and Gijon seems to be the perfect midway point. Would like to know if any hotels offer family rooms/adjoining room as boys will be 12 and 15 and getting too large to sleep in makedo camp beds. Not sure if hotels would allow them a room on their own either. We're not fussed about too many 'facilities' or stars as long as the hotel is comfortable and friendly.
All suggestions greatly received!
Happy travelling
Thanx
I'am 22 years old an a student Industrial product design. 22 February i go to Gijon and in First place i need a place to stay for a period of 4 months. I you know somebody who have a room for me, let me know ;-) it will be very helpful.
We are visiting Gijon over christmas and new years with KIDS! 4 year old, 2 year old and 8months old.
Are there any place we should visit? Any playgrounds?
Please give me some recommendation on family friendly (not classy) restaurant that serves good food.
Thank you thank you thank you. I am so excited to visit such a beautiful city.
Also, if anyone knows.. Is it easy to get around town by bus with kids? If we taxi, I thought we would need child car seat. (am I right?) so, bus is the only option seems like.
If there are any recommendation, comments, advice, please let me know.
Car Hire Posted: Thu October 18, 2007 03:12 PM UTC
Is there a local car hire firm I can use (other than the usual suspects)in Ovideo or near airport. I need the car for four weeks and would rather give my money to a local car rental agent than a mulit national.
we have never been to this part of spain, and are planning to drive for two weeks (asturias to, eventually, barcelona, starting in madrid). will we be able to navigate the roads? should we be worried about weather? we would very much like to drive through the Picos de Europa National Park... is this unrealistic for this time of year?
thanks for any input!
Hi there, I am going for a brief visit to Northern Spain (5 days), flying into Asturias / Oviedo. We are keen to have as good a look as possible as the different aspects of the region - beaches (Gijon, Cudillero perhaps), villages, towns and the mountains (Picos de Europa). I have previously travelled in the north east so don't need to return to places such as Santillana del Mar etc. My question is this - what do you believe is the best place to stay as a base for the region, or would staying in two different places for 2-3 days each be better - if so, where towns would you choose for these two bases?
Thanks for you help :-)
I've already spent the whole last week looking for detailed info on Asturias, but I'm still confused.
My trip is going to be on beginning of May. How's the weather by then?
I couldn't find any info regarding this.
Few VT's guides and some other sites suggested renting a car to explore the beautiful nature of Asutrias. But in my trip, I only have 2 days and I'm there for the nature.
What are your suggestion's, guys?
If I only have 2 days, should I stay in Oviedo, Gigon or Avile?
How about visiting Pico de Europa? How can I make it if I stayed in one of these cities?
Any input, suggestion or help is highly appreciated.
My family of 5 will be in cortina February 18-25 and we would like to take a day off from skiing to go look around Salzburg, Austria. What is the best way to get there? Is there public transportation? Private van or taxi service? Any alternatives would be appreciated
Hi, my family is travelling to San Jose Del Cabo in March 2007, has anyone stayed at this resort recently. If so I was wondering about the rooms. How large is a one bedroom? How large are the kitchen in the units? Has the furnishings been updated? Please email me at cindy.shs@shaw.ca or relpy here on the forum. Thanks
Hi, I'm traveling to Asturias in June 2007 and would like to visit the Parador Fuentes De. Here is my question: How is the road to get to the Parador? Is it too treacherous? I'll probably be driving from Oviedo. Also, if you have any experience with Paradores, a few weeks ago they had seniors and young adult rates of 45 euros per person, but now I don't see that option any more, is it over?
My fiancee and I have scheduled our honeymoon at Presidente Intercontinental Los Cabos in October. We would like to know if there has been damage to the hotel. Does anyone have any information in regards to the damage in Los Cabos from Hurricane John?
We have just about sold our house in Andalucia and are now looking for a furnished let of about 6 months from 1st September in the Eastern Asturias region, preferably coastal. I have spent hours online and can only find holiday rentals. Can anyone recommend a rental agency/website please who handle longer term lets? "We" are a retired couple plus two well-behaved cats!

Would welcome any advice or information from VT members on Candas which is a few miles west of Gijon. There's nothing on the forum but hopefully some of you have been there. We have digs and it's just a question of what to do. We want to walk up to Cap Penas. Is that possible? Where else would people reccomend us to visit. We'll have transport but it is a last resort as we would prefer to walk. 20 miles is well within our range. Any ideas on coastal walks would be apreciated. Cheers.
