Matale King Coconut Oil?!?
Posted: Tue August 1, 2006 08:59 AM UTC
Can anyone help? When I visited Sri Lanka a couple of years ago, I bought some King Coconut Oil at one of the Royal Spice Gardens (no.100 actually)and it was the amazing hair product EVER. I have tried in vain to search online to find contact details for the spice gardens to try to re-order. It doesnt have to be from the same space - I'm happy to order from any supplier online but I cant find any!

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Does anyone know a good hotel near to the Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawala?
Ideally we'd want rooms with air conditioning,hot/cold water and secure rooms.
Someone's mentioned the Hotel Elephant View - does anyone know it?

Many thanks

Kandy How far from Kandy to the Elephant Millennium Sanctuary at Randeniya, Kegalle
Posted: Thu March 23, 2006 02:57 PM UTC
Hiya
We're going to Sri Lanka in mid-May and want to stay near to the Elephant Millennium Sanctuary at Randeniya, Hiriwadunna in Kegalle. Does anyone know of a nice hotel or even private villa for approximately 5 people, 3-4 star, with hot water fairly nearby?

Also do you know how long it would take to drive from Kandy to the sanctuary?

Thanking you in anticipation!

Nuwara Eliya Church near Nuwara Eliya.
Posted: Fri June 17, 2005 12:41 PM UTC
This may seem like an unusual query. During my visit to Nuwara Eliya last year, I visited a small church in the hills. I am unable to recall its name. Its situated a little after St Clairs Tea Centre, on the opposite side of the hill. (Closer to Nanu Oya railway station) Can anyone tell me the name of this church? Its important, so please help!

Kandy accomodation in kandy
Posted: Tue March 29, 2005 03:36 PM UTC
I am a budget traveler, used to traveling in a group, but i will be travelin alone this time round and wanted to know bout cheap accomodation in Colombo. Im willing to shell out 5 to 10 dollars for a day, and by cheap i dont mean a junkyard, like maybe Im looking for a good deal here. Or do any locals offer cheap and neat accomodation. Something i can book in advance before reaching Colombo and dont get looted by agents at the airport. I have an open ticket and might travel in August or december!!

I asked a Sri Lankan VT'er the same question but unfortunely he is too busy. All replies will be really appreciated thnx in advance.

Horton Plains Walking in Horton Plains
Posted: Mon March 28, 2005 08:39 PM UTC
We have hired a jeep to take us into Horton Plains and to see The World's End.
How far does the jeep usually take you into the Plains, and how far is the trek to The Worlds End?
We'd also like to know what sort of foot wear would be appropriate for this terrain. Obviously stilletoes and flip flops are out of the question, but would trainers suffice, or are a good pair of walking boots/light trekking shoes needed?
Any info about this trip would be good. We are staying at the Tea Factory in Niriwa Eliya (apologies for spelling)and think this trip may take nearly a whole day.

Dambulla Travel to Dambulla & back
Posted: Fri September 17, 2004 10:11 PM UTC
A group of us are planning to visit Kandy and Dambulla. From Dambulla, is there a bus to Colombo – preferably AC Bus starting from Dambulla – as the transit buses are crowded and we cannot get seats.

Alternatively, we could go to Dambulla first by AC Bus from Colombo and then from Dambulla travel to Kandy. Are there buses from Dambulla to Kandy - preferably AC Bus starting from Dambulla – as the transit buses are crowded and we cannot get seats.

Any information on frequency of the above buses would be very useful.

Nuwara Eliya Car & Driver from Hill Country to West Coast
Posted: Mon November 10, 2003 08:59 PM UTC
Our family of 4 will be visiting Sri Lanka next February. We are booked on a pkg holiday with stays in Kandy and Bentota, but would like to see a bit of the Hill Country area on our own. If we were to forfeit one nights hotel at the beach (or Kandy) and take the train to Nuwara Eliya from Kandy (staying in Nuwara Eliya one night), would it be possible to hire a car and driver to take us from Nuwara Eliya to World's End (wait for us while we hiked in and out), then drive us to Bentota to our hotel? How long would the drive take (not including waiting time)? Approx. how much would it/should it cost? Would we be better off doing this as an outing from Kandy and returning to Kandy?
Any help greatly appreciated.
