Guest houses/bungalows in the East coast Posted: Fri October 16, 2009 10:10 AM UTC
Hi There
We will be in SL in December and looking for some chaeap accomadation in the East coast, Arugam Bay, Trincomalee, Pasikuda, areas
In June we went to the east coast but did day trips from Habarana which were quite tedious
This time around would actually like to stay there I have looked at a few hotels that come up online Nilaweli beach etc.. but they are are mostly booked and too expensive for my budget.
Any suggestion would be welcome, also is December the wrong time to go to the east? would it be raining all the time
Thanks

Ramada - Kalutara Posted: Fri October 16, 2009 04:53 AM UTC
Hello again,
I'll be on my first visit to SL in December. I'll be staying in Kandy, then Kalutara and finally Colombo. The idea was stay near tea plantation, on a beach resort and finally to the capital.
However, I'm beginning to have second thoughts about Kalutara - it is on a beach but I understand that there's not much to do there - also I've booked 3 nights at the Ramada, but the more I read about it, the more doubtful I become.
I'm trying to look at other options such as Bentota or Beruwala - but the hotels are either full at this time or too expensive for me.
Does anyone have any suggestions / comments regarding the above - all are welcome :)
Thanks in advance...

Need some Medical Advice Posted: Wed October 14, 2009 10:08 PM UTC
We have a medical case, a young guy that is here in the US but wants to travel home to Sri Lanka. He will need to be placed in a mental institution for evaluation before be allowed to go home. Can anyone help me with some suggestions of Mental Hospitals that I might be able to call to see if we can get him a bed? Any help is appreciated as he and his family want him to come home.
thanks

Sri Lanka General Knowledge Posted: Tue October 13, 2009 03:46 PM UTC
Hello everyone
I am in the initial phase about to start planning a trip and am considering Sri Lanka as an option for the last week of February 2010.
I have to admit that I don't have much knowledge about the country so far. Can anyone tell me if it's still worth visiting after what happened lately?
Thanks,
Omar

Looking for reasonably priced beach house / hut for 2 month rental Posted: Wed October 7, 2009 05:43 PM UTC
Dear Fellow lovers of Sri Lanka
I am planning on introducing my partner to this beautiful country by us spending 2 months there sometime over Nov, Dec, Jan 2009/10. I would love to find a base somewhere on the southern coast. The dream would be a simple beach house, ideally with an electricity supply. All I can find online are in the super delux spectrum, I'm guessing that many smaller places may not have a web presence.
Having volunteered in Sri Lanka three years ago I have some friends and contacts who may be able to help but just wondered if anyone had any tips, recommendations or thoughts!! I'm not too fussed about where on the coast (the North and far west are still not really options despite the war ending). We just want somewhere peaceful to read, think and look out to sea! (suddenly that seems like I'm asking rather a lot!)
With thanks in advance
Michaela

Hi
I am not keen on too much touristy action so am looking for a guest house set back from the beach (maybe a few K's away) near perhaps Hikkaduwa or Mirissa or anywhere that anyone can suggest down the south coast.
Thanks

Is Sri Lanka the right country to look at for my holiday? Posted: Wed September 2, 2009 06:23 PM UTC
Im organinsing a 2 week holiday for me and about 10 friends and am currently considering Sri Lanka. we've previously been to Thailand and enjoyed partying in Koh Phangan but that was 3 years ago and i'm concerned it might have turned too tacky and rowdy, with muggings frequent. we're still looking to enjoy a party and would be disappointed if we were somewhere where everything shut at 11 but we still like a bit of class.
We're looking for:
Great beaches
Some daytime activities,
smartish hotels/ guest houses (up to £50 a night with pool)
nightlife- relaxed beachbars rather than clubs though
Can anyone give any reccommendations or am I barking up the wrong tree with Sri Lanka?

5 Days in Sri Lanka...looking for beach area suggestions! Posted: Fri August 28, 2009 11:49 AM UTC
Hi
My husband and I will be traveling to Sri Lanka for 5 days at the end of September. Flying into Colombo.
What should we do next?! We want some beach time, snorkeling, a tour or 2.
I am looking for some direction...what area should I begin looking at hotels in? I'd like a beach front hotel.
One more question: is there a good company to go through for a package deal? We'll be flying from Doha, Qatar.
Any suggestions are helpful!
Thanks!!

Villa Rental Posted: Tue August 25, 2009 04:23 PM UTC
I hope to visit SL in January 2010 and am considering renting a villa for 2/3 weeks. I am tired of paying supplements in hotels and the idea of having my own house and eating whenever I want, appeals to me. Any info much appreciated. Also, does anybody have experience of the Business Class on Sri lankan Air from Heathrow to Colombo ? It's my first visit so I like to plan well in advance.

where on the island Posted: Sat August 22, 2009 05:58 PM UTC
Hello were Steve n Rishka having spent the last 4 winter vacations taking in the sights of India were looking at Sri lanka this year we used India Mike for a lot of good tips for accommodation trains and internal flights etc, as there does not to be a similar site for Sri Lanka were hoping to get help via this site Firstly If we wanted a beach holiday with the option of also getting a good insight into the country what part should we be looking to head for, and is it cheaper just to book a package deal from the UK than booking a room separate to flights, These will be I feel the first of many questions Thanks Stephen n Rishka

Honeymoon in Sri Lanka Posted: Sat August 22, 2009 01:21 PM UTC
Hi all
I am getting married on New Year and wish to visit any nice destination for honeymoon. Only issue is that my budget is tight even if its honeymoon. Sri Lanka being beautiful island country and not expensive as well, so I am thinking to make it to Sri Lanka.
I am wondering if its possible to spend my honeymoon for a week with budget of US$500. I would like to visit nice beach along with stay in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and a night at Colombo.
I need nice and clean hotels / resorts to stay. So any recommendations to how to plan it, what to see and where to stay?
Thanks for all your help.
Cheers
