Valencia Hotel
Posted: Sat August 29, 2009 08:51 PM UTC
We are coming to Valencia for the first time and I have been looking at the Westin Valencia,Amadeo de Saboya, 16 Valencia. Is this a good hotel to stay in as we want to be able to walk to the tourist sights and also be near good bars and restaurants. If anyone can suggest an alternative hotel that would be in a better location,we would like a boutique hotel really. Thank you for your help.

Valencia Information on best area to stay
Posted: Thu August 6, 2009 11:43 AM UTC
We are hoping to have 2 nights in Valencia. Where is the best area to stay and what would be a lovely swish hotel to stay in. This is a bit of a treat so we can push the boat out price wise. We like to have bars and restuarants close by if possible. We also like to salsa dance, are there any good bars for this?

Thanks for your help

We have several larger groups looking to reserve a taxi/van at the La Coruna port but we can't seem to find any companies via a google search. Since we are traveling in groups of 6 - 12 people we were hoping to secrue a van. Does anyone know of a company that we can email prior to our visit in September?
Thank you for your help,

Vigo hostels in vigo, galicia, spain?
Posted: Sat July 18, 2009 03:26 PM UTC
I'll be up this way towards the end of September, coming from Portugal and returning that way. There doesn't seem to be much backpacker accommodation in Vigo, a HI hostel and a University affiliated hostel. Are there not many travellers coming here?

I was thinking of staying here and taking a day trip to Santiago de Compostela. Or should I just go straight to Santiago?

What would you recommend for 3 days in Galicia? I will be using buses and trains.

Thanks in advance.

Galicia A week in Galicia
Posted: Fri June 26, 2009 08:15 PM UTC
Gracias ;)

We are planning a week in Galicia in July. I'd like to plan a route near the coast. As we will rent a car at the airport of Santiago, we don't need to stay at the same place every night. Any advices or suggestions? Thanks ;)

Valencia summer weather in Valencia
Posted: Mon May 18, 2009 06:02 PM UTC
Any advice on what the weather is like in Valencia in June, July, August - does it ever get too hot, say above 30 C? Is it humid or is it relatively dry? Thinking of a visit but we like to be out walking around a lot, does it get too hot and uncomfortable for that? Much appreciated!

Vigo Travelling from Vigo to Porto
Posted: Sun April 19, 2009 10:27 PM UTC
I'm going to have to travel from Vigo to Porto in three weeks' time. I've looked at the options and would appreciate some advice. It seems one option is the take an Autna bus from Estacion Autobuses, and there are several departurues each day - presumably no need to book ahead. The other option is to take the international train, which runs twice a day. There are details and prices the Portuguese railways web site on cp.pt but I can't find a way to book it, and I'm not even sure it's possible to take this as a Vigo-Porto single journey, as it's advertised as a day trip to Vigo. I can't find any reference on the Spanish railways site renfe.es to these trains atall. Can anyone help?
And having said that, would I be better spending more time in Porto and not bothering to spend half a day in Vigo? I will have four days in Porto.

Galicia Taxi Service
Posted: Sun March 29, 2009 03:26 PM UTC
On the road from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela, is taxi service immediately available? That is, in case our elderly aunt finds it difficult to finish the walk, say from Sarria to Portomarin, can she hail a taxi along the road? Or do we need to call a taxi company to meet her at a certain point?

Are the taxis metered or fixed/contracted? For metered taxi, how much is the flag down and the increment? Or if contracted, what is the average price for about 20km distance?

Alternatively, are buses available?

Hi there,

Valencia Emily in Seattle--weather in the fall
Posted: Wed September 3, 2008 04:32 AM UTC
We are considering a home exchange in Calpe, Spain in the fall of 2009. We like to spend some time at the pool and beach but mostly like to take day trips, walk and be active. What is the best month to do this? September, October or perhaps mid September to mid October? I tend to wilt if it is too hot.

Santiago de Compostela Vegetarians - help, please!
Posted: Wed August 6, 2008 01:37 PM UTC
We are visiting Santiago de C in mid September for a few days. We have travelled through Spain quite extensively and know that veggie food can be tricky to come by (we usually self-cater, but this time we are in a hotel for 4 days). We love Italian food, but any suggestions for reasonably priced places to eat would be very much appreciated. We do eat dairy produce and eggs, just no meat or fish products of any kind. Thanks in anticipation!
