Bora Bora Trips Posted: Tue September 15, 2009 08:39 AM UTC
I arrive from London in Bora Bora on Monday October 5th. I am looking to do some activity's over the next 3 days before departing to Australia. I was wondering what would be the best Island to go and visit other than Tahiti. I was thinking of Moorea. Also what would the best way to get there be, by Boat Plane etc. I am staying at the Novotel on Viatape beach by the pier.

Paris / Bora-Bora Posted: Sat April 25, 2009 09:10 PM UTC
Hi all!
I've read all those copious postings on Bora-Bora, and now I am really considering going there. However, the comments on the prices are a bit less copious...
I wonder if there's anyone who could advise me on how to plan a budget priced trip to Bora-Bora from Paris. Would be thankful for tips both on how to get there cheap and where to stay.
Thanks!!

Which of these 3 Hotels is best for OWB Honeymoon? Posted: Wed December 31, 2008 08:08 PM UTC
Hi,
Can anyone recommend which is best?
1- InterContinental Resort and Thalasso-Spa Bora Bora (Issue I've heard - No fish/snorkeling?)
2- Pearl Beach Resort (Issue I've heard - Lots of cockroaches!?)
3- Le Meridien (Issue I've heard- same cockroach problem and maybe not good snorkeling.)
Thank you so much!

OWB and garden rooms at hotel maitai Posted: Mon November 17, 2008 02:52 PM UTC
This isn't a honeymoon, just a romantic trip. Are the garden/oceanview rooms nice? Do you hear road noise at night from traffic? Are the OWB decorated the same as the room?

Bora Bora late January, early February Posted: Wed October 29, 2008 02:43 AM UTC
Hello! I am looking into a trip for late January or early February. I really want to be on a beautiful beach, so clearly Bora Bora is my #1 choice!
I've read multiple sites saying that January is the rainiest month, but that's all relative. HOW much does is rain in January? If I was in French Polynesia for the last two weeks of January, should I expect my trip to be ruined by the weather, or just for a shower every day?
Thank you for your recommendations!

Weather in Bora Bora (end of Nov, beg. of Dec) Posted: Mon September 8, 2008 06:06 PM UTC
Hi,
We're going to Bora Bora from Nov. 26th to Dec. 8. From all that I've read, it appears that that is the rainy reason...anyone have any experience over there in Nov? I'm so excited about it and would hate for my trip to get rained out!

How do you rent a scooter or bike in Bora-Bora in advance? Posted: Sun September 7, 2008 05:23 AM UTC
I am trying to rent a bike or a scooter in advance in Bora Bora.
Our cruise ship is going to be there only one day (in October), and I want to secure the rental in advance. Thanks for any online info/contacts.

Candles as gifts for locals? Posted: Tue January 29, 2008 11:14 PM UTC
I've read on this site that candles are hard to come by in Tahiti. My wife and I will be there in June and I was thinking about bringing a few handmade taper candles. Is this still a good idea for gifts for locals?
(I posted this question earlier in a different location but was told I'd be more likely if I posted it here.)

Getting Around Bora Bora Posted: Tue January 29, 2008 07:10 PM UTC
The main island is about 3 miles wide by about 5 miles long (not counting the wavy roads). My wife and I will be staying at the northern tip of the main island so we won't have the luxury of hotel transportation. Is it possible to walk the island? The island is small but I don't know if the curves of the main road double the distance from our place to the touristy spots. I know a car can be rented for 2 hours for around $100 but after that 2 hour period, we'd still need a way to get from the rental location to our home.
Any chance there is a place to rent kayaks (especially tandem)? I've been kayaking for 10 years and could easily paddle around the island with a passenger. Any transportation advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Weather in October Posted: Tue January 22, 2008 10:57 PM UTC
What is the weather in October like? Is there a lot of rain?
If we are going for 3 weeks, which places besides Bora Bora, Moorea, Tahiti, etc.. should we consider? This is for our honeymoon.
Thanks!

a day in Bora Bora Posted: Thu September 6, 2007 02:03 AM UTC
Our cruise ship docks in Bora Bora for 1 day, as we are doing the Swimming with Sharks thing on Moorea we thought we would hire a car and drive around Bora Bora in the morning then find a good beach to swim and snorkel from in the afternoon, my question is:- which would be a good beach for us to go to which would be close to where the ships tenders come in? Also, as we drive around is there anything we "should not" miss.

Cheap over water bungalows Posted: Sat July 28, 2007 04:20 PM UTC
Me, my mom, and my friend are all trying to plan a trip to bora bora for next summer. We are on a budget so we are trying to find cheaper places to stay and yet still have a nice room. We really would like to stay in an over water bungalow. But we don't want to spend more than 300 dollars a night on one. Are there and over water bungalows for that much? If you have any info contact me. Email: gymnastigue@aol.com

Ferry Transport and Camping/Backpacker Posted: Tue May 22, 2007 11:18 PM UTC
How expensive is ferry transport from Tahiti or Moorea to Bora Bora? Are there camping places and/or backpacker accomodations on Bora Bora? Is it a much more beautiful island than Moorea? Are there motu or beaches you can get away from others?

Senior Trip Posted: Sat February 10, 2007 10:54 PM UTC
My son and I have been wondering where he should go for his senior trip this summer. We've decided on three locations. Los Roques, Bora Bora, or Seychelles. Which would be the best for three 18-year olds to go to for 2 weeks in the summer? The main focus of the trip is the beach, so he wants to go to the one with the best beaches and clearest, bluest waters. Also, which has the best food, environment, and thing to do outside the beach? Thanks.

Where to stay, island or Motu? Posted: Tue January 2, 2007 04:08 AM UTC
There are hotels on either. I like the thought of the view across the lagoon to the mountains, but is it hard to get back to the island for activities, like renting scooters or going to town, especially at night?

Beach attire? Posted: Tue January 2, 2007 01:27 AM UTC
Sorry to ask such a prude question, but am planning a trip to Bora Bora with 2 pre-teen kids. What's the usual beach/pool attire: full suit, topless, or less? Also, are there different beaches for people of different suit persuasions or is it a big mix?
Thanks.

Bora-bora in November Posted: Sun December 3, 2006 10:32 PM UTC
There are SO Many conflicting reports on the net about the "wet" and "dry" season in Bora Bora...November seems to be completely in between the 2. That being said, my fiance and I wpuld love to gon on our honeymoon there, roughly the first or second week of November...how much rain can we realistically expect...short tropical shower followed by sunshine or all day long terrential thunderstorms???

February Honeymoon Dilemma - Bora Bora? Posted: Wed September 13, 2006 05:50 PM UTC
Hi
PLEASE could I hear from people who have travelled to Bora Bora in February. We are getting married on 20th January and are considering going to French Polynesia for our honeymoon. We would arrive on the islands at the beginning of February for 10 days.
I have heard so many reports about the weather - rain, humidity etc. Its our choice in the end to risk it, but I would love to hear from people who have been there at that time of year. It would help make the decision.
And if any one has any better February honeymoon ideas, please let's here them!
Many thanks

Pearl Beach Resort Posted: Fri July 21, 2006 02:43 AM UTC
Hello,
I am planning my honeymoon in Bora Bora for March of 2007. I am thinking of staying in a overwater bungalow at the Pearl Beach Resort - does any one have any reviews on this resort? Also, is March a good time to visit Bora Bora?

Sofitel Bora Bora Posted: Sun March 12, 2006 01:31 PM UTC
Does anyone know the difference between the OWB at the Sofitel Motu Bora Bora and the Marara? It seems the Marara is cheaper even though it has the pool. We will be spending our honeymoon there and want it to be nice, but don't mind saving a few dollars!

snorkeling/sharks Posted: Wed February 1, 2006 03:30 AM UTC
I know there are various sharks around Bora Bora and I'm wondering if anyone's ever heard of an injurious encounter.
Also, apparently some of the best snorkeling is around the motus, but I thought sharks were known to lurk and attack around such sand bars. Or is that just tiger sharks?
I don't scuba and I plan to do little else but snorkel if I go to Bora Bora.
Thanks.

One week vs. Two week stay Posted: Wed December 28, 2005 04:09 PM UTC
My boyfriend and I have been wanting to go to Bora Bora for quite a few years now. He will be done w/ school this next semester where we will have some time (and money) to take an actual vacation. My question is what is how long should we stay? I want to keep busy with activities (and of course some down time), but I don't want to be at the end of our vacation and have to think about what to do. Also, any information on what kind of budget we should plan for our activities as well in US dollars. I do know we want to stay in a bungalow over the water and I believe there are two main resorts that people stay at. Any additional information on those would be helpful as well. Thank you!!!

Bora-Bora...on a budget!? Posted: Sun December 18, 2005 04:45 AM UTC
My wife's 30th birthday is coming up in mid-February and she has a real jonesing for white sands and clear blue water. I've always wanted to go to the South Pacific. I've heard fantastic things about Bora-Bora and it sounds great to us. We live in Portland, OR (and use the Sea-Tac airport in Seattle for international flights).
I can spend an arm and a leg, but I'd prefer not to. I'm thinking we'll be non-over-the-water resort people, and I've seen rates from $150-200. My wife will insist on hot water and a bed, so no camping ;)
So my first question is - where to stay? Any recommendations? Our goal is to chill on the beach, do some snorkeling, do some hiking, and maybe one or two planned excursions (haven't checked into that). Fancy dining not needed.
I did some rough math...$1000/each for air fare, 7 @ $200 each (worst case) for rooms, $150/day for food & stuff (???), $500 extra misc for things that always seem to come up or some tours....$4950!
So is there a way to trim this? Leave out the $500, say $100/day each (we don't eat much), get a $150/night room...$3750. Better...but are there any more corners to cut??
I guess what's working against is most is that air fare...mid-Feb is peak season :-( Any advice on people who've done Bora Bora on a budget would be great.
Thanks,
-Drew
