| Tahiti | Tahiti vs New Caledonia weather Posted: Sun September 25, 2005 02:44 AM UTC
Hi. My fiance and I are going on our honeymoon in late January/early February. We are trying to decide between Tahiti and New Caledonia. Can anyone tell me which place has the better weather then? I've heard that Tahiti gets more rain but that New Caledonia has a higher risk of cyclones. Thanks.

| Tahiti | Hiking & Nitelife in Moorea / Papeete? Posted: Sun July 24, 2005 05:50 PM UTC
My wife and I will be traveling to Tahiti soon. We both dig laying around on the beach yet also prefer hiking and nightlife. I assume there is hiking on both islands... yet what is good? Also, any chance we'll find any nightlife on either islands. Tahiti seems pretty sleepy from what I read. Hope I am wrong though. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

| Tahiti | Many hotels... Where is the best? Posted: Wed July 6, 2005 08:20 PM UTC
Hi. We go for a honey-moon trip next december. We want to spend 3 days in Morea and 4 in Bora Bora. A friend told to stay in a beach bangalow in Morea and overwater in Bora Bora. We have already some options. The question is: Sofitel, Intercontinental, Meridien, Sheraton? Any sugestion? Second issue: food. We plan to book only with breakfast to stay free to choose good places to eat. Is this the best strategy?

| Tahiti | beaches Posted: Tue July 5, 2005 03:13 PM UTC
I am debating to take a family trip to Tahiti in August. First of all, is Tahiti going to be a good place for a family or is it mostly a romantic place. Aslo we are more of a lay on the beach all day family. Does Tahiti have nie beaches-are they as clear as they seem in the pictures, and what are they called. Thanks.

| Tahiti | Airport and Cruise ship transfers Posted: Sat April 16, 2005 05:31 PM UTC
I have pre and post cruise loding in downtown Papeete. Will need transfers from Airport to hotel - hotel to cruise ship - cruise ship to hotel - hotel to airport.
Some of the price quotes received for transfers are ridiculous. What are efficient economical ways to get from airport to downtown papeete and back, and also downtown papeete to princess cruise ship dock. |

| Tahiti | Would love your insights Posted: Sun April 10, 2005 06:50 PM UTC
My best friend and I are leaving the husbands and kids behind and looking for an exotic and relaxing get-away. Our main criteria is white sand, a beach front bunaglow. We are leaning toward Bora Bora. Does anyone have insights as to the best resorts on the island? The Lagoon Resort seems to be top of our list right now. Also, if we spend a few days on Moorea, what would be best there? This is a once in a lifetime trip for us, so we want the best accomodations we can find. Thanks, in advance, for any tips you might share!

| Tahiti | Cheap accomodation in Papeete Posted: Mon December 6, 2004 10:32 PM UTC
Kia Ora,
I''ve got a 1 night stopover in Tahiti before flying out to Easter Island to meet up with my partner whom i have not seen for the past 6 months!! I need a place to sleep that is cheap, and within close proximity with the airport. All i need is a bed to lay down for a few hours. I am Maori, from Aotearoa-New Zealand, and have been to Tahiti last year but i stayed with some family of family members(if that makes sense!) who are not going to be in Tahiti when i arrive. I fly out on the 26th January from New Zealand. Help!!! |

| Tahiti | December Tahiti visit Posted: Sun August 22, 2004 04:33 PM UTC
We are going to Tahiti on a 10 day cruise in december. It begins and ends on Tahiti and visits most of the island chain. After the cruise, we are going to stay from the 23 to the 29th, through Christmas on one of the other islands. My questions are, which Island would be best at that time? We are interested in quiet, private, romantic, beautiful beach and water and diving. We heard it's a must to stay 1 or 2 nights in an over water bungalow. Any recomendations which hotel to stay at, that has both over water bungalows and great beach cabins? or a hotel that is close to an over water bungalow? as we would stay 2 days in over water and the rest of the time on the beach. We are not opposed to flying to other close island chains. If anyone knows of another must see island let us know. We read Bora Bora is a disapointment with pollution, many people and other negatives. Any thoughts? The last question, what are some must dos around the Tahiti islands? Thanks to all who respond..

| Tahiti | Le Meridian Tahiti Posted: Fri April 9, 2004 08:13 PM UTC
Anyone stayed in the overwater bungalos at Le Meridian in Tahiit? We've booked one for our honeymoon in September, but would like to know in advance what to expect.
We have booked our entire vacation in Tahiti (it seemed too expensive to break it up, but maybe we didn't look hard enough). From things I've read, we should definitely see some other islands. Are any of them "day trips" or do you need to stay overnight for it to be worth it. Thanks in advance. |

When is a good time to visit Tahiti? ...any interesting festivales etc.? What does Tahiti offer which Samoa does'nt have? (I'm interested in nature, hiking, snorkeling, + other outdoors activities) Please help me decide :o) -LW |

| Tahiti | My Dream has come true! Posted: Thu March 18, 2004 07:08 AM UTC
I am getting married in June, and with alot of luck, I will be visiting Tahiti for our honeymoon!!!
I have drempt about visiting since my parents vacationed through the islands when I was a child. My questions for all of the Tahitian experts out there: 1. Is the Le Meridien Tahiti a good choice of stay for my visit? I have found what seems to be a very good rate for the 9 night stay that I am planning. While this place looks pretty ritzy, it also is priced better than other resorts in less appealing areas! 2. How much should I expect to spend per day for meals?? 3. How is the weather in late June- early July?? I have read about a southern trade wind that occasionally brings bad weather from June to August.. is this a major weather hamper, or would it just be a typical tropical afternoon type thing? 4. How expensive would it be to take a day trip to some of the other islands, Bora Bora, or Moorea? Or would it even be possible? Thank you very much for any help that you might have to offer!! I hope with your travel wisdom ( or local !) I might make this decision, and fuffil a dream!! any other comments or ideas would be greatly appreciated.. money is an issue, so I am budget minded!!! -Nil in Indianapolis |

| Tahiti | Layover in Papeete Posted: Sun January 25, 2004 12:22 PM UTC
Hey All....
En route to NZ for 6 months and have the option to lay over in Tahiti for several days... I've been bouncing around the web looking at various activities and places to stay - but since I am traveling solo - would like to find what little "nightlife" and action there is to be had... Seems from all I've read, that Papeete is the only place to be (I mean, I will dive and island hop) but for a few days would like to explore the nightlife... Any suggestions as to a good resort to stay at? Places to go at night? Singles? I realize this is "Honeymoon Central" - so please excuse if my request is "out there" - but there's gotta be some other VT folks "passing thru" as well... Thanks for any feedback or help! Brent |

| Tahiti | Another single female traveller Posted: Thu December 18, 2003 03:54 AM UTC
I will be in Tahiti for 5 or 6 days the first week of February. I will be travelling alone. Are there any problems with single females in that part of the world? I've never ever heard of anything but in case I missed something... I will be camping and staying in family pensions for the most part. Are there any suggestions for cheaper comodations? I realise that Tahiti is freakishly expensive but soooo pretty so I will have to budget any way I can. At the risk of sounding completely ignorant, do you have to fly to the other islands or can you reach them by boat as well? What would be the most inexpensive option to see the other islands? Any tips and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

| Tahiti | surf and solo travel Posted: Wed November 19, 2003 07:19 PM UTC
Okay..I am on the look out for a good place for some backpack traveling and surfing. Tahiti sounds like something I would enjoy.
I am curious about cost..how would Tahiti rate compared to other backpacking? Europe was atrociously expensive for me. Australia seemed mid-range, and Costa Rica was totally in my budget. Next question.. I am picturing a lot of honeymooners is Tahiti. Is that the case? Is there even a backpacking scene? - Rachel |
