Hi, is it a good idea to visit Tahiti in December as I heard that it's really rainy and wet around that time. My partner and I are planning a Xmas break to Tahiti.

Tahiti Circle Bus Tour
Posted: Wed May 6, 2009 12:33 AM UTC
Has anybody of you travelled around Tahiti by public bus and can tell me how long such a circle island tour takes? (Net travel time, please)

I have contacted Tahiti's Tourism Office but they have not reacted to my request of emailing me a timetable or at least answer the question I have posted above.

Tahiti What to do?
Posted: Tue October 14, 2008 06:53 AM UTC
We arrive in Tahiti for half a day from a big cruise ship, and then to Moorea and BoraBora for one whole day each from the ship. The land packages they offer are all very expensive and "touristy". We live in Hawaii so some of the visits like pineapple farms, ( we have 100 growing on our land),etc. are not interesting.
What would you suggest we do to enjoy the islands? what are the highlights?
Can we just take a local cab around the smaller islands? Or a local package?

Tahiti Quick Poll Question for Tahiti Forum Readers!
Posted: Thu November 22, 2007 11:26 PM UTC
We are getting married in early April and are going to be spending our honeymoon in Tahiti. We are currently reviewing packages and had a quick question for the group. We can either do:

1. 2 nights in Tahiti (Intercontinental), 2 nights in Moorea (Pearl), and 5 nights in Bora Bora (Lagoon)...

or

2. 1 night in Tahiti, 3 nights in Moorea, and 5 nights in Bora Bora (same hotels).

We enjoy being active and exploring the absolute must-dos of the island. We are not scuba certified, and probably will not be at the time of the trip.

Should we spend two days in Tahiti? Thanks for your feedback!

Tahiti DVDs for Tahiti
Posted: Fri October 26, 2007 01:07 PM UTC
I'll be honeymooning in Tahiti in December, and I've noticed that many people have suggested taking DVDs to watch in the evenings. My question is, do you need to take DVDs from a particular region in order to play them on the resort DVD players? I'm in Europe which is region 2, the Pacific is region 4, and I know that a number of the suggestions have come from Americans in region 1. I don't want to travel with a stack of DVDs that won't work. Extra info, we're staying at one little boutique resort (Vahine) and one big chain resort (Thalasso).
Thanks for your help.

Tahiti What about cruising on the Star Flyer
Posted: Tue October 2, 2007 08:15 PM UTC
My wife and I are looking to cruise the Society Islands on Windjammer's Star Flyer in August 2008 for our Anniversary. I am looking for feedback on this cruise. We are generally outgoing people but want to spoil ourselves a little too. Are we going to go cabin crazy or will there be plenty of opportunity to get out and enjoy the islands? What about the cruise itself?

Thanks!

Tahiti Has Anyone Been To Tahiti-iti?
Posted: Sun September 30, 2007 09:04 PM UTC
Does anyone have recommendations for Tahiti-iti? We're leaving next week for a 14 day visit. Our plan is to stay a week on Moorea and then a week on Tahiti-iti which I hear is seldom visted. The guidebooks I've looked at seem to forget that this area is connected to Tahiti-nui. Thanks!

Tahiti Ferry from Tahiti to Moorea v.v.
Posted: Wed September 12, 2007 09:33 PM UTC
We consider to visit Moorea from the Ships Port in Papeete.
Who knows the timetable from the Ferry to Moorea? Is this ferry always going when the sea is rough because we don't want to miss the Ship.

What are the most beautiful and safest snorkel locations on Moorea? If possible near the Ferry.

Tahiti My Honeymoon
Posted: Sun May 13, 2007 07:31 AM UTC
I have a question. My fiance has never been to the beach and I want to take her to a spot that she will never forget. We are getting married in August, the 11th, and I want to go to Tahiti. Where should I look for flights? Where should I look if I want to stay in a hut next to the water? I want to be able to make love for the first time with the ocean roaring in the background and the breeze blowing into our room. Please help, any advice or input would help. Thank you for time.

Tahiti Moorea to Papeete
Posted: Fri September 29, 2006 07:34 AM UTC
Hi,
I am hoping someone can give me some advice on transport. Included in my package to Moorea is a transfer to the airport - problem is, the last transfer is at 4:45pm and my flight doesn't leave until 3am. Not sure if i should just get the transfer to the airport and then try to make my way to a restaurant / bar or just to make my own way into Papeete and then to the airport. Any ideas? How far is it from the airport to any nightlife that will keep me ocupied for at least a few hours??
thanks so much for your help!

Tahiti One Night in Papeete
Posted: Mon July 10, 2006 08:55 AM UTC
We have one night in Papeete in November and our flight does not leave until very late the next day.

Any fantastic hotel suggestions? We would like to stay in the $200-500 range and get a room with ocean view, balcony and breakfast included would be ideal.

We do not want to stay a million miles from the airport, but we dont want to be in a dodgey ghetto if we are paying those prices.

Happy travels!!

However, I recently researched the weather patterns in Tahiti and found out about El Nino. According to the website, theres a ton of rainfall and humidity in December. Is this true? Has anyone went to Tahiti in december/january ?

Thanks a lot!

My husband and I are visiting Tahiti and Moorea in July. I know that is considered the "Winter" which makes a little nervous as I am looking forward to wonderful, warm, tropical weather and I get cold easily. What should I expect in terms of the weather, humidity, and water temperature?

Tahiti Packages to Bora Bora AND Tahiti vs Moorea
Posted: Fri January 20, 2006 03:57 AM UTC
Can anyone suggest a good website for getting a package including local flights and hotel for Papeete to Bora Bora for five nights?? We do not need international flights included (since we will have RTW airfare).

AND

If we have to choose between spending two nights in Tahiti OR two nights in Moorea, which would you suggest and why? Which is better value for money?
