Laoag: Vigan or Pagudpud? Help!!! Posted: Sat July 5, 2008 08:59 AM UTC
Hi All!
My friend and I are heading to Pagudpud in September via plane to Laoag City. We too would like to go to Vigan but we are pressed for time. We arrive at 7pm in Laoag on a Saturday and leave for Manila at 8pm on a Monday.
I need help with how much pocket money we should bring, where to go first (Laoag--Vigan or Pagudpod?), route we should be taking to get there?
Based on the inputs on this site I have an initial plan on how we can maximize our time and go to most, if not all the places, in both Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur.
Day 1 (Arrival in Laoag 7pm)
*Check in a nearby holel in Laoag and buy pasalubongs)
Day 2 (Early Morning at around 6am)
*Check out of the hotel
*Do the Land tour (Bangui Windmills, Cape Bojeadour Lighthouse, Kabigan Falls, Patapat Viaduct, Blue Lagoon Beach)--since there are only 2 of us, were going to hire a tricycle--I managed to find a cellphone number on one of the blogs i visited.
*In the evening (6pm) Check in one of the many resorts in Saud beach.
Day 3 (Early Morning at around 6am)
* Check out
* Leave for Vigan (a bus ride I suppose)
* (another bus ride back to the airport)Be back at Laoag at 6pm and head back to Manila.
Is this plan a little bit too ambitious or expensive? Or is the route we're going to take reasonable? How far is Pagudpud to Vigan anyway? Please help me chart our course. Suggestions and recommendations will be highly appreciated.
Thanks!

Renting a House and Van in Pagudpud/Laoag/Vigan Posted: Mon June 23, 2008 06:34 PM UTC
Hi. We are going on a trip around Ilocos Norte and since there are going to be about 15-18 of us, we are thinking of renting a house/big cottage to accommodate us; basically, we want to cook our food, unless there is a resort that can accommodate our size and at the same time we are in control of our meals. I kinda like the reviews for Agua Seda so far, but I think the place is too small. We are looking for the same deal in Laoag and Vigan. So it goes maybe 1-2 nights in Pagudpud, 1 night in Laoag and 1 night in Vigan.
Our plan is also to take the bus to Pagudpud and hire local transportation to go around Pagudpud (jeepneys for the day are fine) and Laoag and Vigan --- separate rentals.
I hope you guys can give me contacts for these; it is pretty hard to organize a large group, but we very much want to be in control of this trip. Thanks in advance :-)

Manila - Pagudpud layover Posted: Fri May 16, 2008 03:36 PM UTC
I have read the posts on Pagudpud and viewed the stunning pics of momoydtraveller. A 12 hour trip seems daunting, especially as I travel with a 3 year old. Staying overnight at the halfway (or 2/3) point would be more doable. We would likely need to stop every 2 hours. Any suggestions on how to break up the trip in shorter segments, and which locality would be the best place for an overnight stay - secure, child-friendly accommodations, availability of food, access to medicine/hospital (just in case), with nearby places of interest?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

which of these resorts?!! Posted: Thu May 15, 2008 11:14 AM UTC
I usually travel alone, and always look for comfortable accomodations. A/C, room with a view, and most specially an accommodating staff who I can ask and learn from about the place - note that it will be my first time to Pagudpud.
I've been checking out these resorts: Northridge (affordable at P1,200 for an AC room w private bath, yet read about the rocky frontage), Terra Rika which is midrange (at P3,200 for a beachfront room with AC, TV, mini ref and private bath), and Apo Idon (some recent bad reviews, and the most expensive of the three at P4,000). My budget is P2-3.5T/night, and with these choices, I can't make up my mind!
Of course browsing the net showed me Kapuluan also, but read good reviews (posted more than a year ago) and bad reviews (most recent ones) from different blogs and forums. Checked out Saud Beach Resort too, was suprised that they are priced much like Terra Rika. Given that they are supposed to be the "best" of Saud resorts as mentioned in one famous blog, why are they cheaper than Apo Idon which is supposed to be on the west end of the beach?
Hope to hear from Pagudpud regulars and those who may have tried one or more of the resorts mentioned.

is my itenerary ok??? or any suggestion? Posted: Mon May 12, 2008 03:18 PM UTC
coming from manila we intend to make a 3d2n vacation that inlcudes visiting laoag and vigan, and 2nyt stay at pagudpud.
what if from manila june 7 night will take the florida bus 9.30pm and drop off at laoag instead go directly at pagudpud will arive by what time? 7.30am?
june 8- morning they say you can tour laoag in just 2-3 hrs like visiting Saint Williams Cathedral, fort ilocandia,Sinking Belltower, Tobacco Monopoly, Dap-ayan (for empanada snack) and the Museo Ilocos Norte. Walking distance lang naman daw mga yun. Then proceed to Paoay and malacanag of north. then to Batac for the museum of marcos. using a public jeepney or bus. ( do i missed some impst spot to visit?
so what should be suggested estimated time we leave at laoag to pagudpud? maybe will arive by night time na?
june 9 - whole day tour at pagudpud includes kaibigan falls, patapat viaduct, blue lagoon, bantay abot cave, windmills at bangui, lighthouse.
june 10- check out 12nn.. pagudpud to vigan. what can be seen at vigan? is it 2-3hrs tour will be ok then ride bus home vigan to manila.

PLEASE HELP. Posted: Sat May 10, 2008 08:48 PM UTC
Hi to all. ; )
I'm planning to visit pagudpud this july or august with my girl.
Any suggestions where would be the best resort to stay? (safest place please. one without drug addicts and like.) and what bus company should we take? (deluxe buses, the one with reclining seats please.) and where would we find it? ; )
can we do snorkeling in there? if so, where and how? I mean, are there shops there that offers snorkeling accessories rentals?
by the way, we're planning to stay there for 3 days and 2 nights.
My budget for the trip is 10k maximum. Is that enough?
(I can still add as long as it's worth it.)
We're coming from Manila.
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
I'm really looking forward for your help guys!
keep safe. ; )

Im hoping we can tour Vigan, Laoag and Pagudpud in just 3 days ;) We'll be leaving Manila on Wed night, so we're hoping that by thur morning, May 22, we're already in Ilocos. What do you think is advisable? should we go to Pagudpud first and spend the night there and then tour vigan and laoag on the way home? or tour vigan and laoag first then head off to pagudpud after? Is it possible to tour vigan and laoag in just 1 day? Can you recommend a good Homestay in Blue Lagoon? Please help me i have so many queries. thanks!

Comfortable and affordable buses travelling from Manila to Pagudpud Posted: Mon April 21, 2008 11:54 PM UTC
We are a huge group (about 40)wanting to travel on a reasonable budget from Manila straight to Pagudpud . Is there anyone who has tried a comfortable but very affordable bus line we can charter to do this? Would like to have an idea of the bus features and the rates. We will be travelling and sleeping at night on the way . we like one that has a CR in it since we will be travelling with kids and some senior citizens.

Vigan-Laoag-Pagudpud Trip Posted: Fri March 14, 2008 06:18 AM UTC
We're planning a trip to vigan, laoag, and pagudpud. Our flight will be on april 24 to Laoag airport and we'll arrive there in about 9 in the evening. What do you think will be the best thing to do?
- should we get a room near laoag airport and then leave early in the morning going to vigan? or
- can we go to vigan immediately after arriving to laoag airport and get our accomodation there?
-are there buses that go to vigan from laoag at night? what are the usaul travel time schedule for these buses?
-Is it cheaper to stay in laoag or in vigan?
we are considering the rate of accomodation because we'll just stay there in few hours and have to leave so early so that we can finish our vigan tour. In about 10 am we're off to pagudpud and have some short stops to Bangui Windmills and to Burgos Lighthouse? and also to Paoay Church? Are they near to each other?
Then hopefully in about 2-3pm we'll be in Saud. Do you guys think 10am to 3pm is enough to arrive in Saud with those 3 short stops?
I'm so sorry to ask a lot of questions, but your reply will be very very helpful. Thank you for your patience, hope to hear a reply soon. Thank you so much!
