| Auckland | hesitant auckland admirer Posted: Wed October 17, 2007 03:57 PM UTC
Hi. I've just been recently offered a job in Auckland, I'm just wondering if an annual salary of 50,000 gross should be enough? I have no idea what the cost of living is.... and how are the people? are they friendly? :) thanks!

| Auckland | Auckland - Car rental and preparation Posted: Sun September 23, 2007 03:05 AM UTC
My family of 5 (2 adults, 2 children, 1 infant)will arrive Auckland on 2 November. We will spend 12 days in NZ and go on self-drive tour. Any recommendation of car rental companies, low rates, good service and cars with GPS? We will collect car in Auckland & drop it at Wellington. From Auckland to Rotorua, what is the fastest route? What can we see along the way. I heard about Woodlyn Park Motel & some Lord of the Rings. Any recommendation?

Can anyone recommend a budget place to stay in the centre of Auckland which isnt really noisy, it will probably only be for a night or two to catch up on some sleep and get stuff together to move on again. Don't mind being in the backpacker area. cheers D |

| Auckland | Auckland StopOver Posted: Fri June 15, 2007 12:04 PM UTC
Hi
I'm stopping over at Auckland next week - arriving Auckland Airport at 11am and departing at 7pm. I understand that it takes about an hour to get into the city from the airport so that leaves me about 5 hours to kill. Would someone kindly recommend what should I do and where should I go, bearing in mind my limited time and that it's now winter!!! Thanks so much :) |

| Auckland | 5 days in Auckland.. is that too much? Posted: Thu June 14, 2007 05:54 PM UTC
hello, Im heading to Auckland for some needed holiday with my parents (in their 50s) n my lil bro (13yearsold). im 22.
As my mum insisted on cooking, im thinking of getting an 2 bedroom apartment or villa (or something similar). preferably with beautiful views. ive done a lot of reading on the web about auckland n aprtmts but cant pinpoint a great area with good views of auckland city OR the sea. at the present my mind is set on a apartment on the princes wharf. is there a better choice? ive read that Davenport have great views of the auckland city.. is that true? n is queens road the main shopping street? and where is the main focal point of the city (for tourism), is it the skycity, or princes wharf, or elsewhere? we'll be renting a car, any suggestion on the company? Im also thinking of doing either bungy jumping or skyjump(skycity).. some say bungy is more intense than skyjump. right now im weighing more on the bungy. wut do u think? which is better? Any help is much appreciated. kind regards from kuala lumpur. izad |

| Auckland | where to go and what to do in auckland city early in the morning Posted: Thu March 15, 2007 05:44 AM UTC
I'll be arriving in Auckland Airport on 25 March, in the wee hours of 4am. My connecting flight to Christchurch is same day, 3.30pm. I plan to take airbus to city and explore a little till noon before heading back to airport for check-in. But I'm not sure where I could go and what I could do so early in the morning. I supposed most shops and places are not openned this early. So any recommendations and suggestions?
Thanks. |

| Auckland | Half Day Free Time Posted: Tue February 20, 2007 04:23 AM UTC
Hi!
I'll be in Auckland in March to attend a business meeting. I'll be arriving in the morning on the day before our meeting starts so I have around a half a day to spend on my own. I am checking into the Sky City Grand Hotel so I would appreciate if someone could suggest where I should go given my location and the limited time. Maybe some place where I can buy souvenirs (at a reasonable price) and not too far from the hotel. In addition, maybe you can tell me where I can grab some lunch. Thanks, CARLO |

| Auckland | Airport to Glenfield Posted: Fri January 5, 2007 07:08 AM UTC
Hi,
I heard that it shuttles are a cheaper form of transport than taxis from the airport. Do shuttles just go from airport to hotels or do they go any place just like taxis? Do we need to make prior arrangements with a shuttle company or do we just flag them just like we do taxis? I need to get from the airport to a friend's home in Glenfield. Thanks. |

| Auckland | Auckland to Caracas Posted: Tue November 28, 2006 07:47 PM UTC
Hey all, does anyone know what the cheapest airline to get from Auckland to Caracas? I have only found Lan Chile, which is more direct, but doesn't allow me to get a price online, and I am in Sweden where there are no regional Lan offices. I also see Air NZ flies via the States, but this seems a bit roundabout and I'm guessing more expensive as a result. Any ideas welcome! Cheers!

| Auckland | Mt Eden: Good location for an hostel Posted: Wed November 15, 2006 07:06 PM UTC
Hello,
I am arriving in Oakland the 10th of december (for a 6 weeks trip in NZ) and I am looking for an hostel / backpackers. I see in Lonely Planet an hostel called bamber house in Mt Eden . Is Mt eden a good location to stay in Oakland ? Is it not too far from the city (I will be by foot)? I need a place not too crowdy, but where I can meet some people to speak and why not do a bit of travel with them. Thanks JB |
