Auckland Is New Zealand worth a visit in July and August?
Posted: Tue March 11, 2008 05:17 PM UTC
We'll bein Australia in July and were wondering whether it would be worthwhile to hop over to New Zealand for several days of sightseeing, or would the weather there at that time of year make it less than pleasant? Any advice will be appreciated.

Auckland car rental in Auckland
Posted: Thu February 21, 2008 06:46 PM UTC
Just found this site. We are arriving on Mon. Feb 25. It seems that we can only rent a car for 3 days over the internet, and we are only going to there for 2. We have tried the McDonald's , as it came with good reviews, but they have nothing available. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Auckland New Zealand - stopover in Auckland - two simple questions
Posted: Thu January 17, 2008 01:09 PM UTC
Hi guys, thank you very much for your help ahead. Im staying one night in Auckland as stopover on my way to Tahiti and French Polynesia. Anyway, my two simple questions:

1) Any recommendation to a cheap budget place (hostel or similar) for one night? Central preferable. Please specific suggestions...

2) What should I not miss in my about 24 hour layover? City???? - worth, breathtaking, nothing special? Other places in the town?

Really appreciate

Auckland robbery
Posted: Fri January 11, 2008 03:41 PM UTC
Hi all,

we came back from Auckland last Friday. About 2 houres before we left, we got blagged. We parked in downtown Auckland about 10 min. away from the Sky Tower, and when we came back, our Campervan broked open. They didn`t find money or passports, but they took our sleeping bags, tent, souveniers, slide rolls, dirty cloths,.... with them - all in all in an amount off about 1.500 Euro or even more. But I think they can do anything with the most of the stuff. So my question: does exist something like an lost property office in Auckland? Cause I think they throw some of the things just away. And if an lost property office exist, how can I contact them? The police did and do not help us!
Thanks for your help

Auckland 1st Time in NZ We need help
Posted: Tue November 13, 2007 12:53 PM UTC
Hello everybody,

My lady friend and I will visit NZ(For the first time) in early Jan.

We want to restrict our visit (For this time) to the north of the North Island: Auckland, the very north and not more south than Napier.

We read many books already but any information about what to do, what to see, where to go will be welcome.

Any information about what we should not do ( To avoid to hurt local culture, place not safe...) welcome as well.

For a 2 or 3* hotel, which location would you advise us to look.

Should we rent a car, ASAp from here or wait to be in Auckland?

Chantal and Maurice we are French (By the way sorry for the Rugby quarter final, ou still have the best team in the worl, and I mean it) open minded and young at heart ;-)))) and like walking around, Day and early evening, in town and in the open, and around nice spots and local interesting places, asian and pacific food...

Thank you for your help

Auckland Auckland or Christchurch?
Posted: Sun October 28, 2007 03:06 PM UTC
hello all.

i'll be travelling from Singapore -> Sydney -> New Zealand in december. was wondering whether it would be possible to arrive in Auckland and then travel to Christchurch? how should i go about doing that? also, where would be a good area to stay in Auckland? regarding transportation, i've read on the VT pages that public transportation relies mainly on buses, was wondering if Auckland can be easily navigated? additionally, would it be much easier to book a day tour round Auckland as opposed to travelling ourselves? where can i book such tours?

and oh! i've heard much about farm stays/tours in New Zealand, although i'm not sure if it's in Auckland. any advice regarding this?

your expertise is much appreciated. :)

Auckland Auckland - Car rental and preparation

My family of 5 (2 adults, 2 children, 1 infant)will arrive Auckland on 2 November. We will spend 12 days in NZ and go on self-drive tour. Any recommendation of car rental companies, low rates, good service and cars with GPS? We will collect car in Auckland & drop it at Wellington. From Auckland to Rotorua, what is the fastest route? What can we see along the way. I heard about Woodlyn Park Motel & some Lord of the Rings. Any recommendation?

Hi

Can anyone recommend a budget place to stay in the centre of Auckland which isnt really noisy, it will probably only be for a night or two to catch up on some sleep and get stuff together to move on again. Don't mind being in the backpacker area.
