I would like to book one nearby as I am only staying for a night before pick up early next morning. Don't want to spend too much time travelling. Thanks.

Auckland to Ponsonby Posted: Thu April 30, 2009 11:37 PM UTC
Hu everyone,
My eldest daughter lives on Ponsonby Rd in Ponsonby Auckland and is expecting her first child in Sep'09. I live in Melbourne Australia and will be travelling over for a week with my 12 year old daughter when the baby comes. Can anyone recommend somewhere inexpensive to stay for a week? Unfortunately my daughter and her husband live in a tiny loft and can't accomodate us. I won't have a car so somewhere in Ponsonby would be good otherwise if we stayed in the City Central Hotel on the corner of Albert & Wellesley Sts in Auckland is there a bus that would take us to and fro to Ponsonby? Or any other suggestions on where we could stay that doesn't cost the earth but from where we could get to Ponsonby easily? I appreciate any advice and help that you can give me. Regards,
Michele.

should I keep my car or use bus Posted: Tue April 14, 2009 09:17 PM UTC
we are planning to go next year in march (is that a good month to go? not too crowded, weather still good and room and board will be cheaper).
we will be traveling north island this time only, and when we are done most of other places, we will be returning back to auckland, my question is should I return the car when I get back to auckland and just rely on buses to get around or.... is the bus fare expensive for 3 people? q adult and 2 seniors(I learned my parents will not get any discount since they are not NZ citizen even though they are over 65).

Travelling in winter Posted: Mon March 30, 2009 06:36 PM UTC
Hi, I will be in NZ for 5 weeks in July/August, travelling with 2 teenagers. We will probably hire a campervan and do a trip from Northland to Canterbury. Is this feasible in a campervan or will it be too cold? Are the campsites open in winter? I have seen on the forum that some people have gone for the hire car/staying in cabins option, but I'm wondering if this is more suitable for a summer trip, would cabins be too cold in winter?
Does anyone have any special advice for a winter trip? Thanks! Gail

X*%$ Luggages & Churches Posted: Thu March 26, 2009 07:58 PM UTC
Aloha, from VT's newest member. I'm very impressed with this forum, had to become a member.
We are taking a cruise from Auckland, arriving at 6:30am and leaving around 6 pm. Your replies to the similar question gave us good idea what we can do. Thank you for that. However, I have a couple of questions. Since we arrive on Easter Sunday. we'd like to visit Anglican church in CBD if possible. Does anyone recommend any particular church? Also, any idea what to do with our @#%#luggages?

Auckland for 2 days with a 4 month old!?? Posted: Mon March 16, 2009 12:05 PM UTC
Hello all!
My wife and I along with our 4 month old son are heading to Auckland and the Auckland region for a bit next month (April).
We will be staying with family on Waiheke Island, though plan to spend a couple of days in Auckland city. Wondering if anyone may have some ideas of fun/interesting things to do with a 4 month old? Kelly Tarlton's looks interesting...is it pram/stroller accessable, or should we take the carrier?
We also plan on doing some shopping to take advantage of our dollar gain...any good places?...
Thanks!

In Auckland next week Posted: Sun January 4, 2009 08:34 AM UTC
Hey all. I am staying in Auckland next week (from the 6th-11th Jan 09). I am doing the final assessments for Jetstar cabin crew. Passing that I will be re-locating to AKL. Just wondering if any of you will be in Auckland at the same time and would like to meet up for a drink etc. Male or female it does not matter. I am not after a relationship more catching up with other backpackers while I am there. I am staying at the BK backpackers. Apparently there is a pub downstairs from that. Safe travels all!!

Is our campervan hire company reputable? Posted: Mon October 13, 2008 01:01 PM UTC
Hi,
hope someone can help me on this, we have booked with a company who have offices in Auckland, I will not mention who they are, but I'm getting a bit concerned about them. They took our deposit, which isn't a huge amount, but within 4 weeks we are due to hand over a very large sum to them as we are hiring for 7 weeks.
I have tried to ask them questions by email twice, and all though I have had an automated responce, both times they havn't replied, this doesn't seem a very good sign to me, is it a question of take your money and then don't care.
Yes I could ring them, but costs and time difference makes emailing much better for me, is there anywhere I can reserarch this company to check it out, I did that initialy, and found some good reports on them, but anyone can write them, is there perhaps a tourist body or similar that they would have to be registered with, I know I'm sounding paranoid, but I was only asking basic info questions that they should have come back on.
Let me know your thoughts anybody pleas.

Help Needed :NZ, best choice of a good local tour operator & value for money to BOI Posted: Wed September 10, 2008 02:02 AM UTC
Hi,
Can someone help. I'm trying to make up my mind on whether to choose Great Sights tours, Gray Lines tours or Innz Travel to my 1 day tour to Bays of Islands (BOI). Can someone who have actually been on either one of these tours or heard of any comments with regards to these tour operators services and value for money be so kind to feedback to this post.
Their itinarary and prices seemed almost identical. Some testimony or personal user experience might help me to make a decision. Many thanks

Help Needed :1st time to Auckland, NZ, best choice of a good local tour operator & value for money Posted: Wed September 3, 2008 10:20 AM UTC
Plan to spend 1 day trip to Bays of Islands and another 1 day trip to Rotorua. Can someone recommend me a good local tour operator that can bring me there at a reasonable price? I would prefer a travel itenarary that spends more time at exploring both places and reduce time on stop overs along the way.
Many thanks :)

Day tours from Auckland Posted: Sun July 20, 2008 09:25 PM UTC
I'll be visiting Auckland in September and am interested in doing a day tour out of the city, potentionally to Rotorua. However I noticed all the formal day tours seem rather expensive (>$200 USD). Is there a cheaper tour company someone can suggest? Are there other transportation options (other than the obvious rental car)?

Auckland Visit Posted: Thu July 17, 2008 01:57 PM UTC
Ny wife and I will be visiting Auckland in late Feb or early March. What would the eather be like at that time from a temperature and rain perspective? We like to do local and some touristy things. Can anyone suggest city and side trip actions to fill 7 to 10 days?
What is the chance of renting a studio apartment for a week?
Many thanks.
