Hi All,
I'll be in Queenstown next Sunday. I am just wondering if it would be cheaper to book before I get to Queenstown or should I wait to get there? I would like to do the usual activities - bungee jump, milford sounds etc. Thanks for your help |

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a nice & romantic place in Queenstown to pamper my husband & myself for 3 nites before we rough it out in a camper van for the rest of our trip! :) I've kinda shortlisted the following few places. Let me know what you think? Or if you have other recommendations, it'd be most useful for me. My budget is around $160 per night. Thanks! - Balmoral Lodge@York St (Really nice but expensive & abit out of town) - Caples Court@Stanley St - Blue Peaks Lodge Motel@Corner of Stanley & Sydney St - Bella Vista Motel@Robins Rd. |

| Queenstown | SKi Season in Queenstown Posted: Mon February 27, 2006 01:03 PM UTC
Hi I am flying into Queenstown for the winter season and want to board as much as possible. I arrive towards the end of June and am staying until the end of August and have a few questions if anybody has the time to answer a few of them.
(1) Is it feasible to try and buy a car when I get to Queenstown, and if so any ideas where. (2) Has anybody done something similar and if so what did ye do for accommodation, are there any long term hostels. Which are the most affordable and friendly. (3) Is there any chance of picking up work without a wiorking Visa. |

| Queenstown | Moving to Queenstown Posted: Fri February 24, 2006 06:12 AM UTC
My best friend and I are moving to Queenstown at the end of April for about 6 months. I've been on a few real estate websites but haven't seen too many places available in town (that isn't 5 star!!). Does anyone have any pointers on getting accommodation? Plus, any tips on buying a car? Are there better deals in bigger cities like Dunedin or are the local bombs good enough?
Would love to hear anyones comments (on anything and everything Queenstown if you've got time!). Linda and Kath |

| Queenstown | day tours out of Queenstown Posted: Wed February 8, 2006 10:55 PM UTC
I'll be staying in Queenstown with my 8-year old son for a week. We'd like to take a couple of day tours out of Queenstown for sight seeing. (No extreme sports please.) We can even stay away for one night if it's worth it. Can someone please recommend some good itineraries? Thanks.

| Queenstown | Cheap Accommodation in QT - Abba Garden Motel? Posted: Sun January 22, 2006 09:13 PM UTC
I'm planning a trip to queenstown in July this year, I'm looking basically for something cheap (but not flea or rat infested). The Abba Garden motel caught my eye for something like that (http://www.abba.co.nz/). Has anyone been there, and would they recommend as a place to lay my head for a week? The other one im looking at is Caples Court, which seems a bit better but can only take 4 people.
Any comments on those 2 would be appreciated. |

| Queenstown | Leaving luggage whilst on Routeburn Posted: Thu November 3, 2005 01:22 PM UTC
We're going to be staying in Queenstown the night before going on the Routeburn and a couple of days in Milford Sound. We'll need to leave our non-trekking luggage somewhere for those days. Any ideas?
We're not conviced about paying for a hire car for the whole time and leaving it in there. Does anyone know of hotels that will keep your luggage whilst you are away? |

| Queenstown | long-term accomodation needed in Qeenstown Posted: Thu April 21, 2005 02:24 PM UTC
Hi All,
I'm so glad I discovered this forum! I already found plenty of useful advice in the earlier postings. The two of us is planning to do a whole season (or maybe even 6 months) in Qeenstown from the beginning of July 2005. Can anyone give me advice about long term accomodation? Should we rent in the town or nearer the slopes? (We will probably buy a van so driving is not a problem.) How much can we expect to pay for a non-shared flat (studio or one-bedroom) and where should we be looking? I assume it will be harder to find accomodation when we arrive so trying to sort it out beforehand. Any advice about this will be greatly appreciated! Many thanks, and happy travelling! Mariann |

| Queenstown | Ski-ing Employment Posted: Tue April 12, 2005 12:32 AM UTC
Hi All
Me again...in another state of helplessness! We are considering doing a few months work before we leave NZ for Oz...and we think the ski season starts around Junetime...does anyone know of the liklihood of being able to get casual work in the ski industry at this time? And if so, what are the jobs likely to be? We would ideally like something with free accom! We have never skiid before but think it would be a good time to give it a go while working!! Also, any help on what/where the biggest/best ski resort is so we can head there to look would be great! Thanks a million Claire (UK) |

| Queenstown | Lord of the Rings Tours?! Posted: Thu January 13, 2005 08:16 PM UTC
We are travelling next month (Feb 05) with kids ages 11 - 13 who love the idea of seeing as many places as possible where LOTR was filmed. We realize that the stunning natural areas were computer-enhanced for the purposes of the film and therefore assume that any of the LOTR "tours" offered out of Queenstown and other places are mainly lovely scenery tours with "background info" on the making of the films, etc. That being said, these tours are all pretty expensive. Does anyone have any feedback on any of these tours? We will have a car; is there some sort of guide to direct us on our own to the various sites? I have looked on the web, but not found too much in detail to direct one to the various sites. Thanks!!
