Davao City Spider boat and others
Posted: Mon July 21, 2008 12:21 AM UTC
Hi there. It's me again.

1) Monica has mentioned the spider boat to Pearl Farm. What is that? Is it an alternative to the boat run by PF?

2) This is the big question I wanna ask: If I want to go back to PF at nighttime (say, 9.00pm), what can I take at the pier? Someone said there is a public ferry that 'runs pretty frequently just down the road at Paradise Resort'. Is that true?

3) How about water taxi? Someone said the water taxi ride to PF only takes a few mins.

4) What is the feeeding time for the eagles at the Eagle Centre? I know it's done in the morning but don't know the exact time. Is it done only once a day or more? I don't wanna miss it.

Davao City 3D2N in Davao City
Posted: Wed July 9, 2008 09:15 AM UTC
It is my first to visit Davao City. Dates will be from 05-07 Aug.
I am more interested in the city rather than visiting beaches and resorts.
I would love to visit the eagle farm, orchid farm and the malls around the area.
As this visit would likely to discover if this would be a city to where i want to retire, it would be a great help if you could advise how to effectively go around the place within the 3 days of short stay.
ANy suggestions would be appreciated.
I would be staying in an inn at Rizal St.? How much would be the cab fare from airport to Rizal Street? ANd if I would go straight to Phil eagle center upon landing at 9am in Davao Intl airport, how much would it cost? Thanks

Davao City Is Davao typhoon free?
Posted: Wed July 2, 2008 07:49 AM UTC
Hi. Before I set off for Davao, I would like to know more about the city. Could anyone give me some useful info?

1) I heard that Davao lies outside the typhoon belt. Is that true?

2) If I arrive in late-July, will the waters between Samal Island and the mainland be too rough for speedboats? I'm afraid I'll be stuck in Pearl Farm (PF).

3) Are the water sports offered by PF expensive? I'm staying there but have no idea how much they charge.

4) I would like to go swimming and muck about in the water. I wanna know if there are any life guards on the beaches? Are the currents strong?

Thanks a lot.

Davao City Question about Bankerohan Market.
Posted: Mon June 23, 2008 01:42 PM UTC
I have found some information about Bankerohan Market(BM) knowing that BM will become active from 2am. For me, as a tourist, what time should I go there? Is it worth to have a look in the wee hour of morning? Or it is OK to visit BM at daytime, let's say, 10am/2pm else....?

One more question, Does any know about the story of "Nong Berto"? "Nong Berto" buy and sell everything in underpass near BM at 4am. Can anyone tell me where his exact location is? Worth to visit him?

Hi. My friends and I are going to Davao City this coming August for the Kadayawan Festival. Since we're a big group (around 10 persons) we're planning on staying at the Sampaguita Tourist Inn. Any feedbacks on this inn?
Or any suggestions on an inexpensive but clean and decent place to stay? Thanks in advance.

Davao City Good food in Davao
Posted: Mon June 9, 2008 12:06 PM UTC
Hi, I would like to dine at some of the nicest restaurants in Davao. I would like to try authentic local food. Where should I go? (Budget: no more than 1000peso/meal/head). Please name some restaurant names and addresses and the must-try food.

I'd love to go local and try some snacks or fruit at roadside stalls. Do the food that street vendors sell safe to eat? Would there be any hygiene problems?

Thanks!

Davao Stay at Pearl Farm kills my travelling time?
Posted: Sun June 8, 2008 03:40 AM UTC
I’ve got some questions about Pearl Farm. Would anyone give me some help?

1. How can I get the boat schedule to and from Pearl Farm? I've checked out the website of Asiatraval but didn't get the needed info.

2. I'm booked PF for 3 nights (29th - 31st July) and have paid a deposit, but I don’t wanna stay all the way there. I would like to visit the eagles and the Eden Park during daytime. Would that be a bit troublesome?

3. Apart from the boat/ ferry run by the farm, would there be other options? How long is the boat ride? 45 mins?

A million thanks!

Davao City jeepney from airport at 3am?
Posted: Sat May 31, 2008 10:25 AM UTC
I will be flying from Hong Kong to Davao by cebupacific and arriving Davao at 3am. Are there still any jeepney plying from airport to downtown? Is it safe to do so? I prefer to take jeepney to downtown becuse it is very cheap. If no, are taxis available? Or is it possible (a good idea?) to stay at airport until the sun rise?

Davao City Kadayawan 2008
Posted: Fri May 16, 2008 05:27 PM UTC
Hi. :) This might be a bit early but I was wondering if you guys can recommend hotels or inns that are near the main performance area of the street dance parade of the Kadayawan Festival? I read from DPP that Marco Polo is near/along the route but it's expensive.

Also, we only have one day to spare for touring the city, any suggestions? We arrive (Aug 23) and leave (Aug 25) Davao on the earliest Cebu Pacific flights. Thanks! :D

I wanted to know how to get there if im staying at the city centre and how much will it cost starting from the boat ride to and from the entrance fee and what amenities we can use or what activities we can rent while were there. 1 day will be the island tour and the 2nd day will be my mainland tour before heading to kidapawan.

Davao City Whitewater rafting
Posted: Mon April 14, 2008 01:05 AM UTC
To those who have tried the whitewater rafting... is this activity okey for an 11 year old? We've included this in our itinerary (my kids really wanted to try this out, they're very insistent actually) however, my husband wanted to forgo with it coz according to him it's somewhat risky. Is it safe for my youngest son (11 y/o)? Thanks for any information that you would give me.

Davao Help needed
Posted: Thu April 10, 2008 04:11 AM UTC
Hi everyone!

We are visiting Davao this June (3 days and 2 nights) and I have 2 options in mind. I need help before I make final arrangements.

1- Book at Pearl Farm. Leave the resort in the morning to go to other places like crocodile farm, eden park, philippine eagle, malagos garden, etc. and return back in the afternoon. Is this possible? Is the boat ride readily available? Shall we have to pay for the boat ride everytime we leave the resort?

2- Book at a hotel in the downtown area then just take a day-tour at Pear Farm?

Which do you think is a better choice? Thanks in advance for your feedbacks.

Davao City Searching For a Hotel in Davao
Posted: Mon March 24, 2008 01:23 AM UTC
I tried a website listing Davao hotels, but for the few places that gave an E-mail address it was either not working, or no one on the receiving end can be bothered to reply. So, here is what I am looking for:
"Must Haves"
- price range 1000 - 1500 pesos/night, single room, double occupancy
- private bath
- the room must have a window
- the building must have a lift, if over 4 storeys.
"Nice to Haves"
- a swimming pool, suitable for fitness swimming ( at least 20 metres long)
A nearby pool would be OK - see my post below this one.
- good proximity to buses, jeepneys or whatever public transportation is there
- in or close to city centre
- accepts international credit cards
If you or anyone you know knows a place, please pass the essential elements of this message to them. I am willing to be flexible and consider any reasonable proposals, if only I could get some ! Reply to: songsamnatee@hotmail.com Thank you !

Davao City Public Swimming Pools in Davao ?

Do you know of any ? Please provide:
1. Name of Pool
2. Address/Location - give sufficient info. that a tourist can find the place
3. Days and hours of operation
4. Admission fee

Public pools, hotel pools, or any others which permit casual users on a "walk-in" basis. I will only be there for a few days, so am not interested in places with a requirement for monthly or annual memberships. Thank you in advance. Reply here, or E-mail: songsamantee@hotmail.com
