Brisbane Family mobilisation
Posted: Sat October 27, 2007 05:59 AM UTC
Hi folks,

I'm planning a trip for the entire family to Brisbane in Feb.

We are looking at 6 adults, 2 kids and 1 infant.

And we hope to cover the following in 2 weeks:

Farm stay
Fraser Island
Winery
Gold coast 3 worlds + Sanctuaries
Sunshine coast
Moreton Bay
Pelican Park
Stradbroke Island

First question is, is there any apartments with centralised location recommended for 8 pax based on the above?

And we plan to self drive, any car rentals recommended?

Is there any places I've miss out?

Thanks.

Brisbane Suggestions for things to do in Brisbane
Posted: Wed October 17, 2007 03:18 AM UTC
Hi, there, planning a 2 weeks trip with a bunch of friends to Brisbane/Gold coast in Jun/Jul 08, and thought of renting a car. Anyone has any suggestions for the itinerary? I'd prefer more road trips and natural sceneries stuff than those historical places and theme parks. I heard the weather's cold during that time of the year.

Brisbane Diving
Posted: Thu October 11, 2007 04:45 PM UTC
Hello,

A few friends and I will be visiting Brisbane in January and we are interested in going diving. I was wondering if anyone could give me some information on some good places to go - specifically for a day trip - or even just a good dive shop to contact.

Thanks!

I am 27 and single. I am moving to Brisbane next year, and want to move to a fun part of town with bars etc, but that is also a prime location. After doing some researh, West End and Fortitude Valley look like good options. Are these good, and if not, what are some good areas?

Brisbane Hostel Advice in Brisbane
Posted: Wed September 12, 2007 03:06 PM UTC
Hi,

My Girlfiend and I are spending 10 weeks in Australia next summer and are finding it hard to find budget accommodation in Brisbane. I have found lot's of hostels online however any that seem affordable and to our liking always seem to get bad reviews regarding cleanliness (specifically bed-bugs!!).

Ideally we would love to find a hostel with private double room (en suite if possible)- doesn't need to be fancy but our the main requirement is that it is clean!!! Also as we are close to the dreaded age of 30 we would prefer to find one with a good buzz, but also quiet enough for us old folks to get a good sleep if need be!!

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Steven

Dear friends,

I need your help about where to stay during my 4 days visit to Brisbane.

I've checked out following places:

1. Kookaburra Inn
2. Palace Backpackers

Does anyone stayed at one of above mentioned?

Good location is the most important thing for me.

Thanks a lot!!! :-)

Cheers,

Brisbane Life in Kangaroo Point
Posted: Sat August 25, 2007 06:05 AM UTC
Am thinking of moving to Kangaroo Point, purchasing an apartment in Dockside, and was wondering if anyone on this forum would be able to comment on the area. Location wise it seems very convenient to the CBD, Fortitude Valley etc. What are the main drwabacks to life in Dockside. What I am looking for is somewhere of reasonable quality to live, not noisy, and likely to maintain or increase its value in the years to come. Any suggestions/advice much appreciated.

Brisbane Suburbs Brisbane moving early January
Posted: Fri August 17, 2007 03:29 PM UTC
Hi,
I got a very good Job offer to work in Brisbane as ITConsult. and with my wife we are going to take this chance. We are doing now all documents and should be there early next year. I spent quite a lot of time on Ourbrisbane.com and realestate.com.au to check which suburb would suit our needs. We have a little 2 1/2 yrs old boy and new one coming in Feb, we are looking for nice safe area where I can sleep the night without noisy neighbors or students party etc...( had nightmares here in London ), close to shopping and parks (we probably won't drive), where I can get public transport and be in 30 mins to CBD for work. Money wise I'm lucky enough to say it's not a problem so we'd like to find a really nice furnished appartment or house in a really nice area (names i checked are Paddington, Kangaroo Point, New Farm and surrounding areas without a clear idea of what they can offer, any other area is more then welcome).
I'd really appreciate help from you since from EU ( we are italians currently living in London ) it's a big jump and we are a bit scared not knowing what to expect, especially for our kids ( i'm sure it will be better then here though ... :D ).
Thanks.

Brisbane Brisbane Suburbs
Posted: Thu August 16, 2007 04:25 PM UTC
I'm a student moving to Brisbane in Feb 08 for university. I've never been anywhere in Australia so I'm just wondering where is the best place to live while attending QUT in Kelvin Grove? I want to be within walking distance of the city centre or on a really good train/bus route that isn't too far. Grocery stores close by would be great and somewhere safe for running or keeping active.
Also where are the best night life areas(ie. pubs, cafes etc) where both students and non-students go out??
Thanks in advance!!!

Hoping to spend the day in Brisbane late August. We are planning to go the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary via the Mirimar Cruise but travel back by taxi or bus. Can anyone recommend a good place to park our car for the day in Brisbane and also a nice place to grab a meal before we go back to our hotel in Surfers? Thanks a lot, Kaz (Manchester, UK)

Would anyone know if there is a DVD rental outlet (Blockbuster/Video Ezy etc) in Brisbane city?

Brisbane Moving from the US to Brisbane for 6 months in 2 weeks
Posted: Mon May 14, 2007 01:38 AM UTC
My friend and I are moving from Texas in the US to Brisbane to work at Royal Children's Hospital for 6 months at the end of May. We are thinking we are going to stay in a hostel for a week or so when we first get there until we find a place to stay. I was looking at other posts, and saw that other people were reccomending living on a train route instead of a bus route. Does anyone have any options of neighborhoods to rent an apartment in that would be close to the hospital and walking distance to the train route? Also, does anyone know cel phone companies in Brisbane that would have 6 month contracts? Last question...what are some shopping places that I could look at online that are like one-stop-shops (maybe grocery, home furnishings, electronics, etc)? A response to any or all of these questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
