Gold Coast Visiting the Gold Coast.
Posted: Sat September 15, 2007 10:29 AM UTC
Hi there.
Im thinking of taking my 11yr old son to the Gold Coast in July 2008. What is the weather like at this time please. Too cold for swimming? Also would it be better for us to hire a car or is the public transport good enough? We havent booked anything yet. Im wanting nice accomodation for us (3 or 4 star). Any recommendations for somewhere central to the theme parks etc? From what Ive seen the parks to visit are movie world and sea world. Dream world looks like its all rides and I think these are already at movie and sea world anyway. So we werent thinking of visiting there. The bird santuary looks good. And Ive found a new place called 'Infinity'. Has anyone visited and can recommend? thanks in advance

Planning a holiday in Surfers Paradise in Dec, and was wondering if anyone have any recommendations for a day tour that have some snorkelling. Any good snorkelling locations close to Gold Coast worth going to, and any recommended companies? Thanks.

Did see some kayaking+snorkelling tours on the web, but not too sure how good is the snorkelling.

Gold Coast Gold Coast Accomodation Help
Posted: Tue September 4, 2007 01:54 PM UTC
Hi all,

me and my girldfriend are planning to go gold coast after the exams in november.
november 9th to 12/13th. We are international students and are not familiar with gold coast at all. We prefer to stay at surfers paradise and have no idea which hotel/apartment to go with. However, we have limited budget of around 100-130 per night. We prefer a place that is near to the theme park and still have night activities.

In terms of Transport, any suggestions?

Are there any tourist spots that we must visit? And how do we get cheapest theme park ticket(Dream world and movie world). Out of the 4days 3 nights, we allocated 2 days to travel around and 2 days to spend our time in the theme parks.

Any suggestions?
Can anyone quote us how much money we have to bring?

Thanks
Edmond from Melbourne

Gold Coast Recommendations please
Posted: Tue September 4, 2007 04:24 AM UTC
My husband and I willbe arriving in Coolingatta for ten days and leaving from Brisbane. We will be staying with a friend in Surfers for a few days. Would like to explore other areas and perhaps stay for a few days, not
necessarily by the beach. We enjoy relaxing around a pool. Do not like concrete jungles - much prefer places which are quiet; with some space around. We will probably hire a car for say a week - any recommendations? What will the temperature be like at that time? Any suggestions will be welcome.

Gold Coast Trade Secret - Public Transport
Posted: Wed August 22, 2007 09:55 PM UTC
I am wanting to visit Trade Secret on the same day as I visit the Billabong Factory. We aren't hiring a car on our stay so I was wondering if there was a bus we could catch, either from near the Billabong Factory to Trade Secret or if it would be better just to get a taxi as it isn't a long distance but it is too long to walk! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Oh and stupid question - but I just want to make sure - is there a Taxi Stand outside Trade Secret? Thanks!! :)

Gold Coast Sea world resort
Posted: Sat August 18, 2007 04:39 AM UTC
Hi

Thinking of staying at sea world nara resort in mid october after school holidays with my 2 year old. Is the accomodation nice because I have heard some negative things? Which website would you get the best deals on accomodation here. My friend got a really cheap deal a few years ago but the best I can find it 145 per person per night.

Is there other accomodation you would suggest instead with a toddler but still nice?

What is the cheapest way to see the 'worlds'? I saw a deal for a five day pass including sea world, wet and wild and movie world. Is this the best value - if so it wouldn't be worth getting the entry with the accomodation??

Any help from people who have done this trip with toddlers before would be most appreciated.

Gold Coast African-American visiting Gold Coast worried about racism
Posted: Thu July 5, 2007 05:57 PM UTC
Hi there - I will be visiting a friend in Oz soon. I am so very excited and cannot wait to experience the people and the culture.

Does anyone think or know if I will have a problem with racial discrimination? I know a little about the bad blood with the Aboriginals but as I said I am American so will that matter?

I posted on another site and someone said their black friend visited and was made to feel uncomfortable by the White Aussies and the Asians living there. People were rude and mean to her. Not sure what city.

I have an open mind and understand there are prejudice people everywhere but I just want to enjoy my time there.

Any tips or opinions will do.
thanks so much.

Hi Guys..

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a few things.

- Me & my boyfriend are going to the Gold Coast for 7 days and i just want to find out what the best way and/or cheapest way to get to Surfers Paradise from Brisbane Airport?

- Im staying at Holiday North Apartments, does anyone know if this accommodation is any good? & also wondering if it is walking distance to walk to the main bit of Surfers Paradise? If not what is the best transport to get there?

- How far away is The theme parks from where im staying(Surfers Paradise) & which is the best transport to get there?

- How is the weather in the month of May? is it still warm/hot enough to go to wet'n'wild & the other theme parks?

Thank you so much for those taking the time to read this.

Gold Coast Day Dream Island
Posted: Wed April 4, 2007 03:27 PM UTC
We're a couple in our late 50's who are visiting friends in Sydney next Christmas. We thought it might be nice to have a few chill out days on our own so booked a three day package on Daydream Island in the Whitsundays. It wasn't our first choice as we'd been recommended Hayman Island, which was booked up. Having now booked the flights up to Hamilton Island, I'm a bit worried that Daydream Island is not going to live up to our expectations of a gorgeous tropical island. It seems to be very artificial and I'm worried that we'll be overun with kids. Has anyone been there ? Should we cancel and book somewhere else that we can get to from Hamilton Island? I'd appreciate your comments.

My family and I (3 adults & twin boys ages 13 = 5 members) will be visiting to Gold Coast on 11/03/2007 via Singapore Airline and will arrive in Brisbane airport at 19.35 on the same day.

We have booked & confirmed to stay in Santana Holiday Resort, Monte Carlo Ave, Surfers Paradise from 11/3/2007 to 17/3/2007. We have a total of 7 nights and would like you to suggest on what we should do while we're there.

Can anyone tell me the best way to transfer from Brisbane Airport to our Resort?
What would you suggest whether to travel by train, taxi or coach? I wish to know the following:-
i. All charges/fares, if to travel by train, taxi or coach
ii. If we were to travel by train
a) Where shall we stop at?
b) Is there a direct train to our Resort, or
c) Do we need to take another transport to travel from station to our Resort?

We intend to hire/rent a private car & to travel on our own. Please recommend good/reliable/ reasonable car rental companies.
i. Is Malaysian driving license be permitted/valid in Gold Coast, Australia?
ii. Any further application/document to be needed/signed up/obtained from the Authority?
iii. If yes, the name of the Authority.
We would like to visit the following and wish to know the entrance fees/ time of visiting :
i) Australia Zoo,
ii) Great Barrier Reef,
iii) Currumbin Wild Life Sanctuary,
iv) Ripley or Wax Museum
v)

Thanks & regards

Gold Coast Accommodation for large family
Posted: Mon February 12, 2007 08:58 PM UTC
Hi,

We will be spending time in & around surfers for 10 days from the 26th March.
We've kept it to the off peak times before school holidays to hopefully get a good deal.
We need accommodation for 2 adults and 6 children aged 5 to 11.
with the $1000 odd we are spending on theme park passes, we were hoping to find something inexpensive to accommodate us all.

I've checked out Stayz & Ozstayz and have found a couple who I am waiting ti hear back from, but since we are leaving soon, I don't want to wait for replies and want to book it soon.
Any ideas where else to look?

Thanks
Martin
