| Gold Coast | Working Holiday Accomadation- what should I expect? Posted: Wed March 5, 2008 05:31 PM UTC
Hi all!
My boyfriend and I are traveling from Canada to Australia for a year for a WH. I have been looking at flats in the Gold Coast area to rent to get an idea of what we'll be spending and what is available. I can't seem to find very many furnished apartments, which is what we'll need when we get there as we're each only bringing a backpack. Is there any hints or tips anyone can give me for where to look for decent priced furnished apartments? Also, what should I expect to pay to have a furnished apartment and still have enough money in the bank to pay for food, petrol and the occaisonal night out/entertainment? And where is the best place on the Gold Coast to look? |

| Gold Coast | Getting to Theme Parks Posted: Sat March 1, 2008 10:02 PM UTC
Hi
Won't have a car to get to the theme parks from Surfers. Which would be better, Surfside or a transfer? Does Surfside pull right into Movieworld and Dreamworld, or do you have to walk a fair distance from the bus stop to their entrances. Surfside has more options time wise to get to Movieworld and Dreamworld rather than the transfers which are only a couple of times. |

| Gold Coast | Vacation In Gold Coast Posted: Thu February 14, 2008 12:04 PM UTC
Hi everyone. I m a new member here. Looking forward to have some tips from y'all pertaining to my trip to Gold Coast in this coming April. For info, this my visit to Australia and I'll be heading there with my wife and two kids for a week. I have heard about some great places like movie world, sea world and so on. I plan to rent a car and hope the routes in Gold Coast are convenience and not too busy like Hong Kong since I'm not really familiar driving in that area. What is the best company that offer good rates for rental? Thanks in advance.

| Gold Coast | holidaying in GC just after schoolies?? Posted: Mon November 5, 2007 07:16 AM UTC
Hey all,
I'm posting this madly everywhere because we need to make a decision soon! We are wanting to holiday in burleigh heads from the 7-9th or 10th of Dec but apparently this is Victoria's schoolies week. So I wanted to know if a lot of Victorian kids head to the goldie for their schoolies (in which case we will avoid it like the plague!) I'm from brissie, and I know it's pretty scary for QLD and NSW schoolies but not sure about VIC. Help? |

Hi there,
Im an Australian citizen coming back to the gold coast in a few weeks, i will be bringing my friend who is a british passport holder. Now can some one please clarify if he gets a free 60 day visa when he arrives or does he have to pay for a visa at the Brisbane Airport? Also if he finds a job on the Gold Coast what would he have to do, can he go to the british consulate in Brisbane and apply by that or will he have to leave the country then come back in on a working visa, if so how much? If any one can give me any information that would be great!!!! Thanks.....Hayley |

| Gold Coast | Visiting the Gold Coast. Posted: Sat September 15, 2007 10:29 AM UTC
Hi there.
Im thinking of taking my 11yr old son to the Gold Coast in July 2008. What is the weather like at this time please. Too cold for swimming? Also would it be better for us to hire a car or is the public transport good enough? We havent booked anything yet. Im wanting nice accomodation for us (3 or 4 star). Any recommendations for somewhere central to the theme parks etc? From what Ive seen the parks to visit are movie world and sea world. Dream world looks like its all rides and I think these are already at movie and sea world anyway. So we werent thinking of visiting there. The bird santuary looks good. And Ive found a new place called 'Infinity'. Has anyone visited and can recommend? thanks in advance |

| Gold Coast | Gold Coast Accomodation Help Posted: Tue September 4, 2007 01:54 PM UTC
Hi all,
me and my girldfriend are planning to go gold coast after the exams in november. november 9th to 12/13th. We are international students and are not familiar with gold coast at all. We prefer to stay at surfers paradise and have no idea which hotel/apartment to go with. However, we have limited budget of around 100-130 per night. We prefer a place that is near to the theme park and still have night activities. In terms of Transport, any suggestions? Are there any tourist spots that we must visit? And how do we get cheapest theme park ticket(Dream world and movie world). Out of the 4days 3 nights, we allocated 2 days to travel around and 2 days to spend our time in the theme parks. Any suggestions? Can anyone quote us how much money we have to bring? Thanks Edmond from Melbourne |

| Gold Coast | Recommendations please Posted: Tue September 4, 2007 04:24 AM UTC
My husband and I willbe arriving in Coolingatta for ten days and leaving from Brisbane. We will be staying with a friend in Surfers for a few days. Would like to explore other areas and perhaps stay for a few days, not
necessarily by the beach. We enjoy relaxing around a pool. Do not like concrete jungles - much prefer places which are quiet; with some space around. We will probably hire a car for say a week - any recommendations? What will the temperature be like at that time? Any suggestions will be welcome. |
