Uluru National Park (Ayers Rock) Cheapest way from Melbourne to Alice Springs
Posted: Thu August 3, 2006 02:28 PM UTC
Hi~

I have trouble finding a cheaper to go to Alice Springs~ As I plan to go to Sydney after Alice Springs so I could not buy return ticket. And it seems that taking a coach is much more expensive that plane.

Besides, there are a lot of choices for Safari tour to Uluru and King Canyon and the price varies a lot. So are there any tour really good with a reasonable price??

Thanks a lot~

Uluru National Park (Ayers Rock) Driving
Posted: Thu July 20, 2006 07:02 PM UTC
I am considering doing a day trip to Kings Canyon during my stay in Uluru.

1) As a foreign driver, can I drive a car in Australia? Are there any restrictions?

2) Is it worth it to do the drive myself or better to use a tour company?

Thanks

Uluru National Park (Ayers Rock) Ayers Rock to Adelaide

I'm planning to join a tour traveling from Ayers Rock or Alice Spring then heading south to Adelaide. I have about 6-7 days for this trip, and I'd like to spend no more than 700 on this tour. I'm not sure should I start from Alice Spring or Ayers Rock and Does any one have any good suggestions or recommendation for a good tour to join?
Thanks a lot :)

Uluru National Park (Ayers Rock) Seeing Uluru
Posted: Wed July 12, 2006 11:13 PM UTC
I have a limited time (only about one day, 26 hours) to spend at Uluru. What can I do in this limited period of time. It is my first visit. How do I get from the local airport out to Uluru, how long does it take, how expensive, where can I sleep the night. I will be going in early September.
Thank You!!

Hi all...
Anyone Know Melanka Backpackers? I have to decide where to stay. I have seen YHA Hostel, Alices secret Travellers and Annie's Place. What do you think about?.

The second question is: I have to fly from Cairns to Alice Spring at the and of September. What is better solution? To make a reservation from Italy now? Or wait to arrive at 7 september to sydney. It would be late for find a seat?

I'll be touring Ayers Rock at the end of October.
Which is the best Observatory tour to take in the evening: the one at the Ayers Rock Observatory or the one in Alice Springs? What is the difference between them?

Uluru National Park (Ayers Rock) Car hiring within the Ayers Rock Resorts
Posted: Fri April 28, 2006 11:27 AM UTC
I'll be visiting Ayer Rocks coming May for 5 days. I'd like to hire a car for maybe 3 days, since I figured I could save some money instead of hiring the full 5 days. Is there any car hiring company within the Ayers Rock resort? or do I have to get it from the aiport?

Uluru National Park (Ayers Rock) Self -drive itinerary
Posted: Wed April 26, 2006 10:28 PM UTC
My husband and I are arriving in Uluru in about 3 weeks and have nothing planned. We are flying into Uluru and flying out of Alice 4 days later. We were hoping for a self drive itinerary including the Olgas and Kings Canyon. Not having much luck arranging this at any sort of reasonable price. Seems that one way fees are a killer in addition to cost of staying at Yulara. Any one done a similar itinerary? Any tips or suggested timetables? Thanks a bunch.

Uluru National Park (Ayers Rock) Valley of the Winds Walk
Posted: Sat April 22, 2006 03:57 PM UTC
Looking for some firsthand info regarding this level of fitness required for this walk. Am booked to do it next month but now having second thoughts having read some postings.

I have read that the path is very rocky but is there a lot of climbing involved als?? Have read that at one point, one must climb a sheer cliff. This would not be for me. Just want to make sure that I book the right tour. I am a 56 year old woman with no physical limitations.

THanks for any info!!!!!!

Uluru National Park (Ayers Rock) Transport from Alice to Ayers Rock Resort
Posted: Mon April 17, 2006 01:49 AM UTC
Hi, my husband and I arrive in Alice Springs by The Ghan on 8 May and are staying 3 nts at Sails in the Desert. Out problem seems to be how to get from Alice to the resort the same day. We checked Greyhound buses and they only depart Alice early morning (once a day). The Ghan arrives Alice 11.55am. and we are very surprised to find seemingly no connecting transport out to the resort to coincide with train's arrival. We will hire a car for the 3 days at the resort as we are flying out of Ayers Rock airport to Sydney. So, can anyone advise what options there are. Thanks for any help.

Uluru National Park (Ayers Rock) Ayer's Rock Two Night Tour
Posted: Tue February 21, 2006 12:16 PM UTC
Hi, I'm looking to book a tour starting at Ayers Rock Airport ( most of them seem to pick you up at the airport at 1pm)and ending at Alice around early evening after a night at Uluru and a night at Kings Canyon. We want to stay in fixed tents rather then swags or hotels, and there are 3 of us, so we want to avoid single supplements if possible. I've tried a few but havn't found one that meets our needs. Can anyone help?
Thanks

Uluru National Park (Ayers Rock) how best to do a short visit to Uluru?
Posted: Sun January 29, 2006 05:40 PM UTC
Hi guys

I'm excited about my first trip to Oz, but have limited time. I am planning to visit Uluru from Sydney, and then go on to Cairns and the GBR. Is it possible to fly in on a Saturday morning and fly out Sunday afternoon? Is this enough time? I'm confused about which airports to come in and out of, where to stay (a cool hotel close to the rock I guess) and the best times to see Uluru. There are so many different places closeby, not sure what should be a priority. To make things more complicated, I don't drive, so also need transport advice and I'm travelling solo. Thanks very much!

Cheers,

Rob.

hihi
renting a car to go to Kings Canyon, but thinking to drop it before exploring ayers rock and olgas, grabbing maybe a bus or something for these sites. Is it easy to move around there (ie. enough and frequent buses) or better to keep the car until the end ?
also have u done the silence of sound dinner ? is it worth it?

Uluru National Park (Ayers Rock) Melbourne to ayres?
Posted: Fri December 30, 2005 10:35 PM UTC
Hi all back again for more info. Thinking the best time in our trip to include this trip to the centre is to fly from melbourne to ayres rock and then take a tour to alice springs and fly to sydney.
thinking of cutting out melbourne to sydney section instead of travelling up this route, it was suggested we wouldnt miss much by doing this and it would be better to use this time in the centre, any suggestions?
Whats in alice springs?? is it just a town is it worth travelling the 5 hours from ayres rock to here to see (what is there to see?) would it be better to just fly in and out of ayres rock and do a 2/3 day tour around here?
Thanks
any good budget tour companies that do this tour or would it be better to this yourself?

Uluru National Park (Ayers Rock) Car Hire Required?
Posted: Tue December 13, 2005 10:10 PM UTC
Hi
I'm going to Uluru this weekend. We're staying at the campsite. I would like to do the base walk of Uluru and also the walk through the valley of the winds - together with photos at dawn. Is it best to rent a car to get ourselves around, or would anyone recommend joining a tour? Can we get on to the tours from the campsite or is staying in the overpriced resort mandatory?

thanks!
