Need an opinion about two hotels for a long weekend in Madrid
Option 1:
Sofitel in PLAZA DE ESPANA which since November is the Mercure
Suite bedroom

or
Option 2:
Hotel Hesperia Madrid Paseo de la Castellana, 57 Madrid, Spain
Normal/Standard room

Considering the location of both places which one is more recommended for a touristy weekend? they both seem very close to the metro but to be honest I tend to walk more then use the metro when I can.
According to the Mercure website the hotel only have ONE suite, so it is either amazing or really bad, but it is 4 start, compared to a 5 start standard room it could be better just a normal room in a 5 star.
Hi, I'm in Madrid for a week. Would like to find a fun and interesting internet cafe. I have a small laptop, but prefer to use my USB stick and the large monitors, so just wifi doesn't sometimes cut it.
I'd also LOVE TO MEET UP with other world travelers while I am here. Tapas, anyone?
Thanks,
DJ Starr
So we're in our 30s, avail and will meet after almost 12 yrs...good old Facebook!
I'd like to go out dancing but not to a place with blasting music or over the top shoving and squeezing through crowds to get from one point to another. Can you recommend a nice, classy yet trendy definitely latin dancing place??
We're going to Madrid soon and I was wondering if you guys can provide some tips on where to shop for fashion clothes. I'm thinking in the lines of Prada and Paul Smith.
Are there any department stores that provide such stores at one place or are they scattered around?
Just after a little info. We 2 couples plan an Easyjet long weekend mid January and want to stay in a 4 star within walking distance of Tourist sites by day and bars and clubs at night.
What is the best area and any recommendation for a hotel appreciated.
I will be coming back from barcelona on a train and it will be arriving atocha around 8AM.. how do I then get to airport from train station and catch my 1:20PM flight back to the states?
I will be staying in the center of Toledo for a few days ( hotel Carlos V) and then want to rent a car. I see 2 locations Toledo and Toledo talavera de la Reina. How far are they from eachother? Which is a better choice?
we plan to travel in Madrid in november . I would like to have for the last night an accomodation near the airport because the fly is early in the morning .
it is anybody who can help me ?

I am going spain for 10 days starting Oct 8th. After 2 nights in madrid I plan to go to Toledo for 1 night and then would like to go to Cordoba by bus. Does any one know where I can find the bus schedules out of Toledo? Last time I did this I came back from Toledo to Madrid and took the AVE to cordoba, fast enough but back tracking is something I would like to avoid.
Also, this being not the high season am I correct in assuming that once I get to places like Toledo, Granada, Seville etc. I will not have trouble finding hotel rooms? (I am happy w/ the 2-3 star family run pensions).
We (family of 3) will be arriving in Madrid on December 25th evening from California. We plan to take the Metro from the Airport into Madrid--I have not booked a place to stay yet but am looking into hotel or pension/hostals in central Madrid--we will be spending 3 days in Madrid. What options would we have for anything being open that night so we can get dinner or a bite to eat? Is it only hotel restaurants? Would the Plaza Mayor area be our best bet to find anything or a hotel with a restaurant open? We are not particularly looking for anything fancy.

Hi!
I am going to visit Madrid during Christams holidays (10 days). I have booked airplane tickets to Madrid airport but now I have to find the best ways of booking car hire in Madrid airport. I haven't experienced in this all. Could you share your experience in car hire in Madrid or Madrid airport? What I should keep in mind booking car hire online?
I am planning my first trip to Madrid and I understand that visitors are not allowed to take any photos inside the major museums ...Prado, Reina Sofia, and Thyssen-Bornemisza....Is that correct ? Also, can you tell me if non-flash photos are allowed to be taken inside the Palicio Real , El Escorial and most churches and Cathedrals ( not during services, of course )?

Arriving in Madrid October 3 - would like to see a match that weekend. Both Atletico and Getafe are at home. Which has better atmosphere? For which am I more likely to get (2) tickets?
Been trying to get bus tickets from Spain to Portugal from Eurolines but having problems with their website. I checked the ALSA website and found that they offer the exact same bus route that i was trying to get and their buses depart at exactly the same times (there were only two departure times offered for the route, both at extreme hours so i'm not sure this is purely coincidental).
Are Eurolines and Alsa actual bus companies or are they just booking companies that source local bus companies? Hoping to be enlightened.
I am arriving into Madrid in mid October and don't have to be in Malaga til early November. I need help setting up an itinerary. I've been to Barcelona and the east coast so I thought I'd concentrate on the other side.

3 Day Trip Posted: Sun September 6, 2009 09:52 AM UTC
Can anyone help me plan a three day trip to madrid that does not include football, churches or trips outside the city .I am travelling with my wife and we like restraunts and boat trips etc.......many thanks 63pad
I'll be staying at Madrid for 5 days next week. I'll be spending between 2 and 3 full days in the Madrid itself, and the remaining on day trips to some of the nearby places. I'm looking for historic sites and architecture with interesting photography opportunities. Obviously I will only be able to visit a couple of these, so which ones would you say I really must visit? Toledo, Avila, Segovia, El Escorial, Alcalá de Henares...
As of now, I'm tending towards Toledo and Segovia (a day each). Depending on how interesting I find Madrid, I could possibly take half a day to see Alcalá or the Escorial. What do you think?
My family and I plan to tour Madrid and surrounding towns. We will drive in on 5 Dec 2009 evening and leave by plane on 14 Dec, 2009, 6 pm (Madrid airport). I understand that Constitution Day is on 6 Dec (Sunday) and Immaculate Conception on 8 Dec (Tuesday). We would like to watch Real Madrid play on 6 Dec 2009 but understand that it can be changed to 5 Dec or 7 Dec last minute. We would also like to tour Segovia, Avila, Salamanca and Toledo by car.
What is the best itinerary and should I skip Salamanca as I am more interest in Toledo becuase of the Roman ruins?
My husband and myself are considering going to Madrid for Christmas. What is it like there during at this time? Will there be celebrations or places to go on Christmas day? Or will everywhere be closed?
Also, will shops be closed on Boxing day (26th dec) ....or perhaps do sales in shops start?
Hi. I will be arriving in Madrid at 7:40 a.m. on a Tuesday in October. Since I will have only a carry on bag and an eticket, do you think it is possible for me to get through customs at terminal 4 to catch my connecting flight in terminal 1 at 9:50 a.m.? Thanks.
