Transportation from airport... Posted: Wed July 1, 2009 01:39 PM UTC
Hi - we're flying into Dubai and need to get to Abu Dhabi. I know it's about a 2 hour drive. We'll have alot of stuff so I guess we'll need to take a taxi. What is the approximate cost? Thanks... (How is the driving - should we rent a car?)

Visiting for 7 hours Posted: Mon June 29, 2009 02:50 PM UTC
Hey folks,
I am visiting Abu Dhabi for 7 hours in transit. I have an EU passport, does anyone know if I can visit the city for a few hours while in transit? What are the main things to see in Abu Dhabi?
So far I have:
Marina mall - shopping
Emirates Palace - Does anyone know if people who don't stay at the hotel can visit and have a wander around?
Any help will be much appreciated.

Female travelling to Abu Dhabi Posted: Sat May 23, 2009 04:06 PM UTC
I am preparing a getaway trip to Abu Dhabi with a friend and would like to know the best clubs and bars around. We will be staying at the Emirate Palace which for us looks really nice. Are they other beautiful, chic bars to hang around? Is September a best period? Please help.

Duty Free at Abu Dhabi Posted: Sun May 17, 2009 03:24 PM UTC
I have had conflicting reports of duty free at arrivals in terminal 3 in AUH. Can anyone tell me what the up to date version is, the last I heard was that T3 had no arrivals duty free but all passengers are moved into T1 anyway and have full use of the arrivals facility there, other reports say no so I am slightly confused here, and do we go through T1 after all.
Thanks

Hotel near Airport Posted: Sun March 8, 2009 12:41 PM UTC
Is there a reasonably priced hotel close to Abu Dhabi Airport? I'm aware of the Airport Hotel but that's airside and, at $205 (A$315 to me), it's not reasonably priced for a few hours sleep. I'll be arriving at Dubai airport at 7.55 pm and leaving Abu Dhabi airport at 8.40 am the next morning. I can get a taxi from Dubai Airport to the Dubai Etihad office then get the Etihad bus to Abu Dhabi airport but the last one is at 11pm so I'll be in Abu Dhabi for most of the night.
Alternatively, can I get access to a lounge prior to checking in as I may not be allowed to check in until 5.40 am?
Thanks

3 Hours Transit Posted: Tue March 3, 2009 10:24 PM UTC
Hey everyone,
I will be at Abu Dhabi airport and I have 3 hours between my two flights. I know its not very much time but I have been to abu dhabi airport before and since it was not the most pleasant experience i would like to spend as little time there as possible. I would like to leave the airport, i.e. i would have around hour to spend outside the airport. it will be around 9pm. is there anything close to the airport that i could do? even if its just a walk. do you think its safe for a european girl in her early twenties to go out alone at that time of day?
thanks for your help

HI , i am a single lady looking for an alternative place to stay in Abu Dhabi for two weeks at a time every three months or so..the prices of hotels make it impossible to visit that long and i am currently looking for work there but need a place to stay. If anyone knows of anyone with a spare room that they would consider renting to me for a reduced rate , i would love to hear from you.. I am a very responsible respectable lady with no criminal background :) and just looking to start a new life in UAE since my husband died last May 1st of cancer. Thanks for any help anyone can give me. June

last minute affordable accommodation Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 04:22 PM UTC
Anyone help - I've found Abu Dhabi hotels ridiculously expensive for a conference I really want to attend late January. Does anyone know of any alternative types of accommodation ie other than the main hotels/appartments - I've tried numerous international websites and its the same story in all of them. The UK exchange rate at present makes this almost impossible for a non-profit budget.
Thanks

Re: Female Traveling Posted: Wed November 12, 2008 02:10 AM UTC
So far what I know is that my friend’s father lives in an apartment. At the moment I have someone dealing with my tourist visa for me, and I was told to get a sponsor letter from my friend’s father, who is the UAE resident and whose apartment I will be staying in during my visit. However, he is afraid that my staying there will get them in trouble because I am not related to them…also he wants to see it in writing that it is okay (if it really is okay, that is) by law for me to visit there. Do you by any chance know any websites which states something like that? Also is there anywhere I can find an example of a sponsor letter?
I appreciate all the replies so far btw, thanks a lot!

Female Traveling Posted: Tue November 11, 2008 07:50 PM UTC
I have an Indonesian male friend who is visiting Abu Dhabi and he is residing with his father who is an expatriate with Abu Dhabi residency. I would like to visit my friend, and my question is, would it be possible for me to stay at their place, seeing that I am not their relative? Also, to apply for my visa who should I ask to write my Sponsor letter and what information must be added to the letter? Thanks!

Visiting Abu Dhabi Posted: Sun November 2, 2008 09:31 PM UTC
Hi!
I'll be visiting Abu Dhabi in February. I've looked at some of the hotels - but there are so many - which ones do you recommend?
Also - I was planing to rent a fun car - convertible sports car or something - which rental car agencies have such cars available, do you know?
Do you have some nice local food I should try out while visiting?
Thanks for your help and input!
Regards
Chris

Abu Dhabi airport from 5:40 pm till 2:10 am end of September Posted: Fri August 22, 2008 08:42 PM UTC
Hello,
This can be of minor importance, spending long hours at the airport taking into account time consumed to check in and out of the airport, but I thought someone here would give me a feedback on how to spend fruitful time at that airport. I'll be accompanied by a child and so any ideas on how to keep a child busy and/or comfortable will be most appreciated.
Thanks
