i'm looking for a place to stay from 9th february till 14th february. i can't find hostels or low budget hotels in Ankara. i don't need much, just a room. does anyone have ideas? thanks in advance.

please guide me about economical on-line hostel reservation in Ankara. I have tried on www.priceline.com and wwww.Hostets.com
In most of online sites there is no choice for ankara but for Istanbul you can find a lot. SO please tell me about some economical (student level) accomodation that can be reserved in advance (on-line) for the Ist or 2nd week of January 2007

Hi. I am Ankara and dont know anyone. Will be here for a couple more weeks - my host is insomniac and sleeps ALL day so I'm a tad bored... If anyone is up for a coffee or beer give me a shout...

After Ankara I will be moving to Fethiye area for a couple of months... any advice on rental market there would be appreciated... I had a look around when i was there two weeks and was told it would be less touristry and also prices would drop after high season... sounds perfect!

we are two students from Munich. At the end of september we start our erasmus-exchange at the baskent university in Ankara. The dormitory there is too expensive for us so we want to look for a flat or a room in a privat dormatory.

Do you know some names (homepages?) of privat dormatories? Also the names of good pensions for the first days that are not too expensive could help.

I might want to study in Ankara for a semester (spring semester next year, probably METU, maybe Bilkent), and have some questions about the student life. Hopefully I get a better picture of life in Ankara this way. When you have other things to tell beside the questions, feel free to post whatever you think is relevant. :-)

- Is the METU (and Bilkent) campus far away from the city core?
- Are there many things (party's, students hanging around at evenings) to do on the campus or are most students busy with studying?
- Are there other places in town where students come to party?
- There seem to be strict rules in the dorms about alcohol and being back at 24.00. Are they that strict in practice?
- Is there much to do in the city and surroundings?
- Do you think it's easy for an international student to make (good) contacts with local students?

Hi there

Is there a regular bus connection from Ankara to Tehran or Tabriz in Iran?
I've found (on the Internet) a lot of bus connections from Istambul (to Iran) but I coundn't noticed even one from Ankara.
How about connections from Ankara to Van and from Van to Tabriz?
Has somebody experienced such a trip?

Next month I'm going to Ankara for 3 weeks to do my MA research there. As my staying will be quite long I need a really cheap accomodation-the best would be below 10 dollars-if that's possible at all.
I'll be doing my research at British Institute of Archaeology at Ankara so it'd be perfect to find smth near there. It can be student dormitory (if that'd be possible)-state or private, hostel or private rented. I'm going there as a part of Turkish governmet scholarship so perhaps staying in the dormitories would be possible?

Me and a friend are going to study in Ankara for one term, starting at the beginning of september until the end of January. As we do not want to stay at the university residence, I was wondering if anyone of you knows how to find cheap appartments to rent in Ankara, what prices we will have to expect (simple 2/3-room appartment) and which areas you would recommend? (lively, central but safe and not too fancy!!).
