Ankara Hotels near US Embassy
Posted: Tue March 31, 2009 12:36 AM UTC
Hi,

I was looking for a nice not very expensive nor cheap close to US Embassy in Ankara, can you guys give me some names? I prefer walking distance.

Also when I went to Turkey couple of years ago I found a nice hotel in Istanbul and I actually bargained with the guy at reception and he gave me a good rate! A huge discount :) can I do this in Ankara?

Thank you,
A.

Ankara Ankara next Saturday--or not?
Posted: Wed March 11, 2009 12:22 PM UTC
I've been checking out the VT tips on Ankara since I might end up with a free day there next Saturday (March 21). It seems like there's plenty to do--including a lot of outdoor stuff--but it also seems like it's going to be quite cold, possibly even snowy. I'm on a long business trip in the Mideast/Africa and don't have any warm clothes with me, just a light jacket. Should I stay in Ankara, or try to get myself somewhere warmer? I'm interested in seeing the city, but not sure if now is a good time for it. I haven't been there before, so I don't know how big Ankara is, how to get from place to place, etc. I'll be staying at the Sheraton. I won't have a car, but could take taxis and public transit.

Ankara Visiting Ankara METU Looking for Moderately Price Hostel
Posted: Thu October 23, 2008 10:59 PM UTC
Hi,

I'll be traveling Ankara from mid dec to early jan this year. Im visiting people at the METU college and am looking for a place to stay. I don't mind paying 30 dollars a nite, but the place must be safe and located within walking distance of the campus. I've searched several online services, but none of them have any hostels.

Can someone help me?

Ankara 4 months in Ankara
Posted: Thu October 23, 2008 10:26 PM UTC
I'm planning a research trip to Ankara next summer/fall. Can someone give me some tips on the best place or even the best kind of place to stay for that long? I need to be in Cankaya. I'm looking for cheap, but safe and furnished. Are there apartments available for this length of stay, a month-by-month kind of thing?

Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Ankara Cheap Hostel or Hotel for 6 people
Posted: Sat September 6, 2008 04:11 PM UTC
Hello Folks,

I was not able to find any hotels or hostels in Ankara online. Are there some? We are a party of 6 and would like to take a dorm or 2 triple rooms. The cheapest I found was:

Ogultürk: 37 EUR per double room
Hotel Hotel 2000 Aniteppe: 37 EUR per double room
Best Western Ornek Hotel: 37 EUR per double room

But actually this seems to be 3 stars hotel, and we don't need that. Prices are fine, but we read that we could get some hotels for 10-20 USD per person, and this would be fine as well. Any advice?

Which one of the above mentioned 3 hotels would you recommend more? We have a rental car that we want to park overnight in front of the hotel (on the street). Is this safe in Ankara?

Ankara Hotel near Esenboga airport
Posted: Sat March 1, 2008 11:38 AM UTC
I looked through all your hotel tips for Ankara but did not find any hotel at or near the Ankara international airport. Can anyone recommend a hotel that is cheaper than the Büyük Anadolu hotel?
Are there several hotels (preferably not too expensive) near the airport?
My plane arrives early evening and I have my connecting flight the next morning. So I would prefer to stay near the airport. Any suggestion is welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Ankara housing in ankara, plus questions about cappadocia
Posted: Tue January 15, 2008 08:13 PM UTC
hey all,

ill be spending a month in the ankara area this spring and im wondering about some logistical/cost-of-living stuff. first of all, is flatshare the cheapest way to go for housing? if so, can anyone recommend a good flatshare-finding website or suggest another way to find a room to rent? what are alternative hosing options? i'm goingfor cheap, cheap, cheap! how much might one spend on food over a month in ankara? (buying groceries, plus going out occasionally?) I apologize for this barrage of questions.

I'll actually be in the area to study the underground cities in cappadocia.. does anyone have experiences with those sites? is there housing in cappadocia itself? any recommendations would be wonderful!

look forward to any replies. thanks!

hi, everybody! I am planning to go to Ankara on february, for about 2 weeks, with my best friend. Do you think it's a good moment? And what about the hotels? Are there some cheap but comfortable and safe hotels for 2 young women wanting to discover this place? I've been told that less than 3 stars hotels are not very good...? If someone could answer my questions...Thanks a lot!!

Ankara Traveling to Ankara

I'm a 36 year old female currently living in the US. In December of 2007 I'll be traveling to Ankara, Turkey. I'll be there visiting for almost 2 weeks. This will be my first time traveling overseas. I recently applied for my US passport (Aug. 6) and I should be receiving it sometime in November. I've already purchased my roundtrip plane ticket. Any tips, comments, suggestions I should be aware of? Before traveling, while I'm there, and when I leave. Thank you.

Ankara Looking for a furnished flat for 5 months -- Kizilay or near
Posted: Tue January 30, 2007 09:22 PM UTC
I am a teacher from the United States and will only be in Turkey until 20 June 2007. I am looking for a safe, nice, quiet, clean 1-2 bedroom flat with a semi modern bathroom starting in February 2007. I have a little dog, and a bad leg, so I need to be on the ground floor or very close to it.

I will be working in Kizilay so I need to be close; perhaps Dikmen or Sokullu?
