| Ankara | Hotel near Esenboga airport Posted: Sat March 1, 2008 10:38 AM UTC
I looked through all your hotel tips for Ankara but did not find any hotel at or near the Ankara international airport. Can anyone recommend a hotel that is cheaper than the Büyük Anadolu hotel?
Are there several hotels (preferably not too expensive) near the airport? My plane arrives early evening and I have my connecting flight the next morning. So I would prefer to stay near the airport. Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks in advance. |

| Ankara | housing in ankara, plus questions about cappadocia Posted: Tue January 15, 2008 07:13 PM UTC
hey all,
ill be spending a month in the ankara area this spring and im wondering about some logistical/cost-of-living stuff. first of all, is flatshare the cheapest way to go for housing? if so, can anyone recommend a good flatshare-finding website or suggest another way to find a room to rent? what are alternative hosing options? i'm goingfor cheap, cheap, cheap! how much might one spend on food over a month in ankara? (buying groceries, plus going out occasionally?) I apologize for this barrage of questions. I'll actually be in the area to study the underground cities in cappadocia.. does anyone have experiences with those sites? is there housing in cappadocia itself? any recommendations would be wonderful! look forward to any replies. thanks! kc |

| Ankara | february holidays in Ankara Posted: Tue December 4, 2007 11:27 AM UTC
hi, everybody! I am planning to go to Ankara on february, for about 2 weeks, with my best friend. Do you think it's a good moment? And what about the hotels? Are there some cheap but comfortable and safe hotels for 2 young women wanting to discover this place? I've been told that less than 3 stars hotels are not very good...? If someone could answer my questions...Thanks a lot!!

| Ankara | Traveling to Ankara Posted: Sat August 25, 2007 07:17 AM UTC
I'm a 36 year old female currently living in the US. In December of 2007 I'll be traveling to Ankara, Turkey. I'll be there visiting for almost 2 weeks. This will be my first time traveling overseas. I recently applied for my US passport (Aug. 6) and I should be receiving it sometime in November. I've already purchased my roundtrip plane ticket. Any tips, comments, suggestions I should be aware of? Before traveling, while I'm there, and when I leave. Thank you.

| Ankara | newbie in Ankara Posted: Sat July 21, 2007 09:41 PM UTC
Hi,
I will be moving to Ankara in Sept. to teach and then plan to travel from June-Aug. before returning home. I want to travel as light as possible. What are must haves? I hear English Language books are difficult to find as are tampons. Any truth to that. I want to bring my laptop and then possibly ship it home in June. Good or bad idea? Mobile phone? what's the best thing to do? Bring one with me or purchase one there? Thanks in advance. |

| Ankara | Exchange student (Bilkent) from Germany looking for a room.. Posted: Sat April 14, 2007 11:38 AM UTC
Hi guys,
I'm a 23 years old student from Germany and I'm looking for a room for the period from September 2007 - Januaray 2008 (I could pay up to 300 /month). I will study at Bilkent University and have alreay asked them if it is possible to rent a room in their dormitories for just a month while searching for a private room: They told me that, due to the great demand, this is not possible anymore. In Germany there are a lot of Homepages especially designed for students looking for rooms, does anyone know such an adress for Ankara? (or, can anyone help me in any other way?). Thank you very much |

| Ankara | Looking for a furnished flat for 5 months -- Kizilay or near Posted: Tue January 30, 2007 08:22 PM UTC
I am a teacher from the United States and will only be in Turkey until 20 June 2007. I am looking for a safe, nice, quiet, clean 1-2 bedroom flat with a semi modern bathroom starting in February 2007. I have a little dog, and a bad leg, so I need to be on the ground floor or very close to it.
I will be working in Kizilay so I need to be close; perhaps Dikmen or Sokullu? Sandi |

Also... After Ankara I will be moving to Fethiye area for a couple of months... any advice on rental market there would be appreciated... I had a look around when i was there two weeks and was told it would be less touristry and also prices would drop after high season... sounds perfect! |

| Ankara | apartments/pensions in Ankara Posted: Thu September 14, 2006 11:06 AM UTC
Hello,
we are two students from Munich. At the end of september we start our erasmus-exchange at the baskent university in Ankara. The dormitory there is too expensive for us so we want to look for a flat or a room in a privat dormatory. Do you know some names (homepages?) of privat dormatories? Also the names of good pensions for the first days that are not too expensive could help. If you want to rent a room or a small apartment or if you know someone who does please contact us. Thanks in advance! Best regards, Heena & Carina |

| Ankara | Studying in Ankara Posted: Mon July 31, 2006 08:19 PM UTC
Hello,
I might want to study in Ankara for a semester (spring semester next year, probably METU, maybe Bilkent), and have some questions about the student life. Hopefully I get a better picture of life in Ankara this way. When you have other things to tell beside the questions, feel free to post whatever you think is relevant. :-) - Is the METU (and Bilkent) campus far away from the city core? - Are there many things (party's, students hanging around at evenings) to do on the campus or are most students busy with studying? - Are there other places in town where students come to party? - There seem to be strict rules in the dorms about alcohol and being back at 24.00. Are they that strict in practice? - Is there much to do in the city and surroundings? - Do you think it's easy for an international student to make (good) contacts with local students? Quite a lot of questions, thanks in advance for answering! Greets, Jurek from the Netherlands |
