Ehpesus Terrace Houses Posted: Fri April 6, 2007 02:43 AM UTC
We will be taking a tour offered by the cruise ship to Ephesus. The cost is $49 without the Terrace Houses and $99 with them. Is it worth it.

Getting around and possible dangers Posted: Sun February 4, 2007 01:35 PM UTC
I am planing to visit Ephesus in July when I am on a cruise. I have some mobility problems with uneven paths, no handrails, long uphill slopes. Can anyone tell me what the terrain is like and what sort of provisions, if any there are for those less mobile. Is it still possible to visit do you think?
Many thanks for any help you can give.

Arrival by cruise ship and Tours Posted: Sun October 1, 2006 04:44 PM UTC
Will be on cruise and planning on trekking to Ephesus. Should we take a prepackaged tour from the cruise line (Princess) or get a guide and car at the port to take us?
thanks

Best ways to get to Troy and Ephesus Posted: Wed September 20, 2006 11:12 PM UTC
Hello:
I have been looking through many travel guides and it seems quite a challenge to get to Ephesus and Troy without taking a pre-packaged tour. Planing a trip on your own and trying to locate dependable bus information from which to plan a vacation in Turkey is proving harder than Agamemnon and Menaleus winning the Trojan war. It seems to require both bus and car. Are there tour companies locally in Istanbul that offer tours to Ephesus and Troy, for example, around the Sultanamet area with hotel accomodations and bus transportation?
Thank you in advance.

...in the winter? Posted: Mon August 28, 2006 01:06 AM UTC
I'm planning a trip to Turkey in January. I understand that this is the exact opposite of tourism season there. Is visiting ephesus in January do-able? recommended? Does anyone know if tours operate year round and if the sight is open year round.

shortest way to ephesus Posted: Thu March 30, 2006 01:14 AM UTC
I am visiting family in Istanbul, Ankara and Bodrum. My first city is Istanbul, then Ankara after that. Is it better to go to Bodrum then take a day trip to Ephesus or is it better to go from Ankara to Izmir to Ephesus then Ephesus to Bodrum. I will be returning to Istanbul.
Thanks

Daytrip from Selcuk to Pergamon? Posted: Wed March 1, 2006 08:40 PM UTC
Hi I was wondering if it's possible to see Pergamon as a daytrip from Selcuk, preferably as a do-it-myself daytrip?
I want to see Pergamom but was thinking of heading south instead of north down the coast. I've read that Troy, Canakkale, Gallipoli are overrated - agree or disagree? (coming from Greece, I'll already be seeing a lot of ruins)
Thanks so much for your help!

Fastest way from Istanbul to Ephesus Posted: Tue November 8, 2005 07:16 AM UTC
Is the Ferry+Drive combination still the fastest way from Istanbul to Ephesus? (I will have a rental car in Istanbul for business earlier that week.)
I have only ONE day to visit Ephesus! I must work until 4pm Wednesday. Then I can leave for Ephesus. I plan on staying in Izmir late that night. Next morning drive to Ephesus. Visit most of the day. Then I have to go all the way back to Istanbul that night. I fly out Friday morning!
I mainly want to see the ampitheater and St. Paul's Basilica.
I think that this may be the only way to see Ephesus. Any other suggestions?

day tours in Ephesus? Posted: Thu August 25, 2005 12:35 AM UTC
Hi
If one had very little time and only could get a feel of where to return for a longer visit in future, where would one go to book a day tour? Which would be a reputable company with ok packages and how much roughly would they cost?
Thanks.

Travelling by bus from Istanbul to Ephesus by Varan Bus Posted: Wed August 24, 2005 01:16 AM UTC
Hi all
Istanbul to Ephesus on a night bus - would you say that's ok? safe? dependable?
Is Varan a reliable company? Is it possible to take a night bus back? Crazy?
Have been reading about other suggestions to go to Izmir first then take a bus, but there's little time and am doing things in between conference days.
So, since there's so little time, where can I book a day tour? maybe can return in future for a propoer visit....
Thanks.

Atilla's Getaway and other Selcuk hostels Posted: Tue March 8, 2005 05:13 PM UTC
Hullo All,
Just wondering if anyone can offer advice on hostels in Selcuk, near Ephesus, Turkey. I'm debating staying at either Atilla's Gateway or the Artemis Guesthouse. I've read conflicting reviews of Atilla's, ones which say it was the best hostel ever, and others which say it was the worst. Has anyone who's actually stayed there got an opinion, and why do you think that?
Also, anyone who's ever stayed at Artemis Guesthouse have an opinion on it?
Thank you SO much to anyone who responds!

Ephesus Posted: Mon November 8, 2004 01:15 PM UTC
We want to take the bus from Istanbul to Ephesus but we only have a few days to spend in Turkey. We just wanted to know whether the drive from Istanbul to Ephesus is scenic or whether it's boring because otherwise we'll save Ephesus for another trip and spend the whole vacation in Turkey instead. Please advise. We don't want to take the airplane because we want to go as cheaply as possible.

To Ephesus Posted: Fri March 7, 2003 08:32 PM UTC
Does anyone know how long it takes to get from Marmaris to Ephesus by bus? Also, where is the best place to stay overnight close to Ephesus? I am looking to spend no more than $12 per person (for two people in a double), preferebly with bath. Can anyone recommend a place? Will I be able to stay overnight nearby Ephesus and then just go to Ephesus for one day and head back to Marmaris after 5pm? Thanks.
