Will it be difficult to find accommodation in Southern Spain during the December Holidays? I will be traveling from mid December - mid January with some time spent in Morocco. I'm used to traveling off-peak and just showing up so I'm a bit leary during Christmas to not have booked ahead. Also, I'm ok staying in hostels. Big thanks for any advice.

hi me and my partner are thinking of getting married in gibralta in june 2011,we are bringing 40 - 50 guests, we hoping to stay in the estepona palace hotel, we are looking for a restaurant for a relaxed meal for the evening and like the look of yours, not sure if you have the space or you could provide room for dancing. we like the thought of you being english only because of communication as we would like to organise it all ourselves. if it is not possible to book your restaurant could you recommend any others please. we are looking to come over in march next year to have a look around. i hope i dont sound to forward in my request. look forward to hearing from you. thanks carol and chris

I was in Seville during the summer 2008 and I would like to return around spring next year. I know that this is a very critical date to look for an accommodation and thought to start my researches already. On the agency´s website I have previously booked with (very good service and would like to book through them again), I have found the following two hotels and would like to know if anyone has stayed in either of them already:

Will be driving down from Granada thru Motril and south east toward Gibralter. Need an inexpensive overnite, non hostel, on beach side, anywhere between Almunecar and Malaga. Some mentioned: Almunecar Playa, Bahia Tropical, Arrayanes Playa, Best Alcazar (on Marina del Este...not the other one;), Elimar, Proamar, and El Rancho.

Hello.
I read in the Lonely Planet guidebook for Andalusia that the entry to the Cordoba mosque is free in the morning until 10am, only for individual visitors, but not for groups. However, the website of the mosque does not list any such possibility. Can anyone confirm or deny this piece of information? I would assume that the administration of this famous sight does not particularly like to emphasize on the fact that you can enter for free, but it could be that LP is wrong, of course. Hi hoping someone can help me.
I lived in Estepona for 18 months, returning to the UK in June 2001. Unfortunately I lost contact details for friends who ran bars and restaurants in the area, mostly in Calle Real and Avenida Espana. Can someone tell me if the vines restaurant is still there, if Bogie's (after Humphrey Bogart!) bar is opposite and also if there is a cafe called D.D's, run by a Moroccan guy, accessed from both streets still a couple of doors away from the British Big burger Bar? What is the cheapest and most direct way to get to El Corte Ingles from the Cruise Terminal. Last time we were there we took the tourist bus but it is expensive just to visit one shop.

My boyfriend and I are planning a two week holiday next year at end of April/beginning of May.
What is the weather usually like at that time of year? Is it possible to swim yet? (I'm fairly brave.... coming from the UK swimming in a freezing cold sea is not so unusual...) Are there are any quiet, 'out of the way' beaches or fairly secluded places on the coast? We would like to completely avoid all the high rise hotels/loud nightlife scene, we much prefer the countryside. Also plan to do a bit of hiking, perhaps in the same area? Any hiking trails? Information on accomodation in the area would also be helpful - we were thinking of self catering or even camping.... Hope you can help? |

My family and I will be in Fuengirola over the holidays and would like to have a nice Xmas dinner out at a restaurant. I have done some research and found the Aroma to be most suitable as they also serve vegetarian meals but when I email them to make a reservation the email keeps bouncing back to me. I tried info@restaurantearoma.com. Does anyone have a current email address I could use. Thank you.

Dear fellow VT members, my husband and I will be in Seville in a few weeks and want to rent an apartment instead of hotel. We are there four nights and prefer to be in the Santa Cruz or Plaza Neuva area this being our first visit. We need at least one bedroom and would love something charming and old world. Any suggestions out there? We would like to stay at $125 US a night or below. From what I see on websites this is doable but I don't know what to trust. All the pictures look great ......Any help MUCH appreciated. And I will post on our return. Thanks.

I am staying in Vilamoura for a week and am going to drive to Sevilla for a day trip. We would like to visit the old jewish quarter and also the cathedral.
Can anyone recommend a good parking spot with easy access. I hear the metro is now open, would one of the stations be a good place to leave the car for the day with easy access to the city? Also any recommendations on "must see's" time permitting? I guess we will be in town between 11 am and 9pm Any advice would be appreciated. |

My OH and I are planning to spend two weeks in December touring Andalucia - we've done it before and it was great - and have booked a self-catering apartment in Cadiz over the Christmas period.
Having lived and worked in Spain I know that atmosphere and activity can vary enormously in different parts of the country, ranging from just like a normal Sunday, with lots of stuff open (e.g. La Coruna and Seville), to stone dead (e.g. San Sebastian). Where do Cadiz and surrounding towns and villages come on the scale? As we are self-catering it's no big deal if restaurants are shut on Christmas Eve and/or Christmas Day, but it would be nice to know in advance so we can plan accordingly. Advice appreciated. |
