Aleppo Direct train from Istanbul to Aleppo: Booking Query
Posted: Mon August 15, 2005 06:21 PM UTC
Hello,

I am hoping someone will be able to give me some advice and put my mind at rest..

We are travelling from the UK to Turkey on 31st August, albeit via a slightly unconventional route!. We are taking a very early flight to Greece (Kos) then catching a ferry to Bodrum and finally the overnight coach to Istanbul, arriving very early in the morning on September 1st..

The problem is that we want to travel on the through train on the 1st September from Istanbul to Aleppo and are worried that by buying the ticket on the morning of departure, with only a couple of hours to spare, we will not be able to get a sleeping compartment on this train.

Is there any way that we can buy the ticket in advance, prior to our arrival in Istanbul? If we had to pay courier charges and have the ticket sent to us in the uk it would not be a problem.

We are so looking forward to going to Syria, it seems such a wonderful country and we would hate not to be able to go due to the train being full!

Thanks in advance

John

I have accepted a position at the ICARDA school in Aleppo and am wondering what life will be like there. I have a 10 year old daughter and a 9 year old son. As of yesterday I am very concerned about our safety....before the removal of the US ambassador I was feeling good about moving there as I have heard how friendly the people were......can someone tell me about life for an American family there and the latest on feelings towards Americans...

Aleppo From Adana to Aleppo: Fouads
Posted: Fri August 13, 2004 01:35 PM UTC
Hello Fouad,

My name is "bodhinature." You have very good information for people on the Aleppo forum. So I hope you can help me.

I will be visiting Aleppo next week, I HOPE!! I will be flying from Istanbul to Adana, and I will take a bus from Adana to Aleppo. It will be my first trip not only to Adana but also to Syria. 1: Do you know if there's bus service from the airport in Adana to Aleppo? If not, how do I get to the NEAREST bus station from the airport? 2: How much is a round trip ticket from Adana to Aleppo?

I hope you can get back to me as SOON as possible. And perhaps I can meet you while visiting in Aleppo!

Thanks much,

Aleppo Can I get a tour to avoid $100 visa coming from Turkey?
Posted: Mon June 21, 2004 10:34 AM UTC
I'm coming to Aleppo overland from Turkey in August. I read in Let's Go that if my trip is through a syrian travel agency, then my visa is free at the border. Can anyone confirm this?
Any help finding a short, low-cost tour starting in Aleppo?
Otherwise it's $100 to get the visa in Bucharest.
All the agencies I've looked at start their tours in Damascus. I'm the independent, poor backpacking type, but if an organized tour saves me from the $100 visa, and gets me to Aleppo, Crac des Chevaliers, Damascus and probably Palmyra, then I'm definitely interested!

The tour could include Lebanon and/or Jordan also.
After Syria & Lebanon, I'm on to Jordan anyway.

Thanks,
Kevin
