Aleppo train/bus/taxi from Aleppo to Turkey
Posted: Thu February 21, 2008 08:50 AM UTC
Hi all!
I found your wonderful forum and I hope that somebody can answer my questions. I'm sorry but my English isn't perfect :(.

At the moment I'm planning a trip from Aleppo to Germany. I've got some question about the part from Aleppo to Istanbul. The plan is to use the train from Aleppo to Istanbul. Unfortunately I can only book on the day of departure. There is the possibility that the sleeper is already fully booked and no berth is available for me :(.
In this case I would like to use a taxi or bus to Gaziantep and catch the "Toros Express" there. Toros Express departs 14:30 in Gaziantep.

Is this possible?
How long does a trip to Gaziantep take by bus or taxi?
Is there a bus that reaches Gaziantep to connect with Toros Express?
Some other suggestions?

Does anybody have got a good map of Aleppo? (I only found this one: http://www.syriacsummerschool.com/information/aleppo_map.htm)
Does anybody know the "al-Gawaher Hotel"? Is it ok for one night?

Thank you very much for your help!
Dirk

Aleppo From aleppo to gaziantep
Posted: Sat February 16, 2008 12:02 PM UTC
Dear Vts

Understand there is a shared taxi from Aleppo to gaziantep for SYP400+- per seat. taxi station is near the museum.
My question :
1)Where exactly is the taxi station, what is the name of the road or station?
2)Is it correct SYP400 per seat?
3)Where does the taxi disembark at Gaziantep city/taxi station?

Yr advise is highly appreciated.

Aleppo Aleppo to Adana
Posted: Wed April 18, 2007 03:36 PM UTC
I'm travelling overland from Egypt to Istanbul in a couple of weeks. For the Damascus to Istanbul leg I don't want to wait around for the weekly train but have found trains from Damascus to Aleppo and from Aleppo to Adana to Istanbul. So the troublesome leg is Aleppo to Adana! I know there are taxis (though a touch pricey) and keep finding confimation that there are weekly buses but can't seem to track down a timetable for the buses. Does anyone know how to get hold of this information or any better alternatives?
Your help would be greatly apreciated! Thanks.

Aleppo Tour advice
Posted: Thu December 21, 2006 02:36 PM UTC
It is possible to see St. Simeon, Sarjella/Sergella, Ebla, Ayn Dara and Apamea in a day? And if not, what can be taken out of that program?

What can anyone say about the Maara Museum? Worth Visiting?

Are most touristic places closed on Jan 1? Or no?

What are the most important things to see in Damascus in a day?

Aleppo Trains between cities
Posted: Fri December 15, 2006 11:34 AM UTC
Is there a train service from Aleppo to Palmyra?

Also is it a stupid idea to take the train from Aleppo to Damascus for a day, return at night? Will there be enough time to check a couple of important sights in Damascus within those few hours?

We wish to get in touch with the family of Kusay Nureldin who was born in Aleppo and hopefully still lives in Aleppo, Syria. They tried to reach us years and years ago, but our relatives forgot to take their phone numbers. We have tried to find out their telephone numbers or their e-mail addresses, but could not be successful. We will be grateful if you could help us finding their address and telephone number. And if this happens, we will have the opportunity to visit them.

Sincerely yours,
