Syrian visa at Turkey border with Iranian passport? Posted: Tue August 18, 2009 12:40 PM UTC
Syrian visa at Turkey border with Iranian passport?
I'm traveling in Turkey with an Iranian passport, and I'd like to enter Syria next. My question is how quickly can I expect to get a Syrian visa at the Turkish border, and how much will it cost? If you have entered Syria as an Iranian please let me know what happened to you at the land border with Turkey? Even if you are a dual nationa? Iranian-Canadian, Iranian-American, or Iranian-European. Also, do you think the Syrians mind if my passport has only 5 months of validity left at the time I enter Syria (instead of the required 6 months)?
Thanks

Pension in Aleppo Posted: Sun March 29, 2009 11:00 PM UTC
Hi again, just a question which follows on a bit from previous ones. Are there any budget accomodation options in Aleppo (ideally for no more than 30 Euros)? Also how many days are recommended to see what the city has to offer?
Any advice on not-to-miss aspects of Aleppo would be great.
Thanks again

Aleppo to Turkey Posted: Sun July 27, 2008 09:27 AM UTC
Does anyone know if trains still run from Aleppo to Akçakale in Turkey? Is it possible to get a bus direct, or do you need to go by train via Gaziantep? Thanks in advance.

Changing currency Posted: Sun July 20, 2008 12:47 PM UTC
Hi all
We are 3 older women from England who are coming to Aleppo next week by train from Istanbul. First, I have heard that the Taurus Express is not running at the moment! Does anyone know if that is true? I hope not as we are booked on it!!!
Second, what is the best way to get Syrian pounds? Should I bring Euros or British pounds to change?
Many thanks

Baron Hotel Aleppo Posted: Thu July 10, 2008 09:47 AM UTC
Hi,
I am finding it very difficult to make an online booking for the Baron Hotel. Do they have a website? I have read that it is a bit of a shabby place but I like the novelty of the place and it seem reasonable too.If you can suggest alternatives, that would be of great help too. Our budget is USD 50 per night for two.

train/bus/taxi from Aleppo to Turkey Posted: Thu February 21, 2008 09:50 AM UTC
Hi all!
I found your wonderful forum and I hope that somebody can answer my questions. I'm sorry but my English isn't perfect :(.
At the moment I'm planning a trip from Aleppo to Germany. I've got some question about the part from Aleppo to Istanbul. The plan is to use the train from Aleppo to Istanbul. Unfortunately I can only book on the day of departure. There is the possibility that the sleeper is already fully booked and no berth is available for me :(.
In this case I would like to use a taxi or bus to Gaziantep and catch the "Toros Express" there. Toros Express departs 14:30 in Gaziantep.
Is this possible?
How long does a trip to Gaziantep take by bus or taxi?
Is there a bus that reaches Gaziantep to connect with Toros Express?
Some other suggestions?
Does anybody have got a good map of Aleppo? (I only found this one: http://www.syriacsummerschool.com/information/aleppo_map.htm)
Does anybody know the "al-Gawaher Hotel"? Is it ok for one night?
Thank you very much for your help!
Dirk

From aleppo to gaziantep Posted: Sat February 16, 2008 01:02 PM UTC
Dear Vts
Understand there is a shared taxi from Aleppo to gaziantep for SYP400+- per seat. taxi station is near the museum.
My question :
1)Where exactly is the taxi station, what is the name of the road or station?
2)Is it correct SYP400 per seat?
3)Where does the taxi disembark at Gaziantep city/taxi station?
Yr advise is highly appreciated.

Aleppo to Adana Posted: Wed April 18, 2007 04:36 PM UTC
I'm travelling overland from Egypt to Istanbul in a couple of weeks. For the Damascus to Istanbul leg I don't want to wait around for the weekly train but have found trains from Damascus to Aleppo and from Aleppo to Adana to Istanbul. So the troublesome leg is Aleppo to Adana! I know there are taxis (though a touch pricey) and keep finding confimation that there are weekly buses but can't seem to track down a timetable for the buses. Does anyone know how to get hold of this information or any better alternatives?
Your help would be greatly apreciated! Thanks.
