Al Khubar Against Saudi laws?
Posted: Sun July 20, 2008 02:17 PM UTC
I would like to ask how true that Muttawa or Saudi police catch single men and women who speak to each other or be together as prohibited by Saudi laws. Does this apply to foreign nationals, too? I have learned of men & women (both expats) meet in malls and are able to go together in public. Women are said to be able to go into the Bachelor's housing as long as the man's companion will allow the woman's entry. Some women even wear mens clothing to be able to walk into mens' housing. How then can you say that Saudi laws still prevail for the locals as well as expats?

Al Khubar DO YOU KNOW OF A CLEAN, INEXPENSIVE PLACE TO STAY IN KHOBAR FOR 2 NIGHTS ONLY?
Posted: Sun April 15, 2007 04:35 AM UTC
I am looking for a place to stay for 2 nights in Khobar or in the near areas but I do not want to spend a lot of money. In Jeddah and Riyadh there are some nice, clean, big and furnished apartments that are not as costly as the expensive and popular hotels. Usually in Jeddah I could rent a 2 bedroom apartment for 250 riyals per night. No luxury but clean and confortable. Appreciate all your help!!

Thank you!!

Al Khubar Extracirricular Activity
Posted: Sat March 17, 2007 03:16 PM UTC
I am very new to Khobar and was wondering if anyone would be able to share some insight into the below so that I can keep myself occupied. Any and all help is more than appreciated.

1) Where might I be able to get arabic lessons?
2) Are there any gyms/ healthclubs in town that offer b-ball courts, pool, weights, treadmills, etc.?
3) What are some of the better restaurants around town (specifically Lebanese/ Middle Eastern)?
4) Any golf courses or driving ranges? Clubs for trekking, fishing or triathalon training?
5) How strict are rules/ laws regarding photography?

Pretty much looking for stuff outside of my computer at work that will keep a once active 20-something bachelor occupied.

Regards

I would like to know, if how long it will take the processing of the application for visit visa or a residence visa?

How would you know that your application for your visa is rejected or approved?

Al Khubar Internet in Al-khubar (eurovillage)
Posted: Thu February 15, 2007 06:13 AM UTC
Hi there. My family will be moving to al-Khubar in August and we will probably be living in the Eurovillage compound. I also run a little internet business and I was wondering what the internet service is like there. Is it a headache to be on, or is it comprable to western services. Also, is it expensive to have internet in your home? Is it worthwhile getting it installed or are you better off just using the cafes?

Thanks for your help!

Al Khubar Baby supplies and giving birth in Al Khobar
Posted: Fri January 26, 2007 09:52 AM UTC
Has anyone out there given birth at the SAAD Hospital? Or does everyone go to Bahrain to give birth? I am also looking for baby bedding as well as a maternity pillow to sleep. I've been to mothercare (didn't have much selection in what I needed), pumpkin patch (just a few clothes)...so any help in finding the items I mentioned above would be nice. I wonder if I will have to order all this stuff online..

Al Khubar Spas or beauty center
Posted: Fri January 26, 2007 09:21 AM UTC
I am looking for some nice "spa" like places to get manicure, pedicures, facials, massages, etc. So far the only thing I see online is the Oasis place that has a spa. I went to one place last week but it was hidden and someone had to take me there. Otherwise, I would of never known it was there. I would like to try others before I become a "regular" at a spot :) It was really cheap like $25 (including tip) for a mani/ped. BUT I am willing to pay more for that nice enviornment

Al Khubar ORTHODONTISTS
Posted: Wed January 17, 2007 11:44 AM UTC
Hi,

We are moving to Al Khobar soon (my husband - Norwegian, myself - Australian, and our Labrador - also an Aussie...). I have braces - in fact the top set are lingual (on the inside of the teeth and as such the treatment is different to regular braces). Does anyone know of any orthodontists in Al Khobar? I might have to go to Dubai for treatment which would be a bit of a pain.

Thanks
