I am visiting Amman for Christmas, I was told that renting an appartment may be cheaper than staying at a hotel, I am in a budget,have any body may recoment me a nice apartment that I can rent for 3 weeks, I am planing to be in Amman from the 19 of December to January 1st. or any other sugestions that somebody may have on a nice unexpensive and clean hotel.

Hello, We will be traveling in Egypt and Jordan and want to be respectful of the customs. As such, we are packing long pants and long sleeved shirts. We will be finishing our trip at the Movenpick resort on the Dead Sea and were wondering if shorts are acceptable at that location.

I came to Amman for 1 month for study and all the time lonely and I don't know where shall I go, so looking for some one company me and tell me name of the good retaruant show Petra and dead sea.

Are there any bus companies that provide transport between Jerusalem/Tel Aviv and Amman that I can book in advance? If not, how easy is travel between the two places?

Does anyone know the typical weather in Jordan in mid to late December? We will arrive right after Christmas and stay until the first week in January. We plan to visit the major sites around Amman and then journey down to Petra and Aqaba.

Would like some details on the low budget hotels in Amman and info on the must see places around Amman.

Looking for ideas on MUni (uncicyling on a beefed up frame) trips near Amman. Ideally would be same as mountain biking, intermediate to advanced single track, 10-20 mile trails max, given that our unicycles only go about 4 MPH (6 KPH). I hear there is a park similar to MOAB, UTAH which would be ideal. Going end of this month.

I'm planning to be in Amman in mid-October and would like to take the opportunity to visit Jerusalem. I would like to go on an English-speaking bus tour. Are they offered on Saturday and Sunday?

We are going to be spending 3 weeks in Amman in August. I've been looking for specific clothing guidelines, but really can't find anything very specific. We are from America. Are capri pants worn in Jordan? How about shorts for the children? We will be staying in Amman, but sightseeing all over Jordan. Would we be better sticking with long skirts (to the ankle) and long pants? Are short sleeves okay? What about shoes -- sandals, flip-flops? Or closed toes only?

Can anyone recommend a hotel at the airport in Amman. We are arriving from Petra and understand that the city of amman is 30 mins north of the airport and we will be arriving from the south. We have an early flight the next day so do not want to travel unneccessarily. thanks Gill O'D.

I am seeking information about travel from Amman to Jersualem...What are the hours of operation for the Allenby bridge? How long can I expect the trip to take? How does it work? Take a bus to the bridge, cross with shared taxi? What kind of visa do I need if I am to fly into Amman, stay in West Bank for one month and return to Jordan? Do I need to acquire a multi-entrance visa before I leave (usa)? And about how long does it take to get one? what are border crossings like? Can I expect to be questioned thoroughly regarding my intentions in West bank? I will be doing volunteer work there. Any other info would be so extremely helpful! Thanks!

My daughter will be doing a 3 month internship in the summer in Amman, starting around May 21. We have had a hard time getting any information about apartments/hostels, or even a homestay while she is there. Does anyone have any leads/suggestions that we can look into?? I am a college student interested in learning Arabic. By summertime, I will have completed 2 semesters of Arabic. I am extremely interested in continuing my learning of Arabic over the summer, and I was wondering where the best place to learn the language would be. Some things that are of importance to me are: quality of instruction, location of the school, and activities outside of the school. Since I am going alone, I want to study somewhere where I won't feel secluded or outside of society. Also, scenery is of great importance. All things considered, where would you guys recommend studying Arabic? (I want to study for a period of about 2 months...I'm not sure if that changes anything). ( I know I posted this about a month ago in the Sousse and Damascus forum; however, those are no longer options.)

I have been trying to find a walking tour of Amman - we have a free afternoon and I have always found a tour that walks around the city and shows your highlights...but I'm having trouble finding anything like that in Jordan. I see bus tours and other longer time trips. Can anyone help?

I have an 11 hr layover in Amman from Kuwait. Flight arrives at 12midnte and leaves at 11 am next day. Any suggestions what to do in Amman for a short period of time. I’m planning to visit Jordan, Amman in February and would greatly appreciate if someone can recommend a decent hotel in central location for $50, single. I’ve checked out Teledo Hotel, has any one stayed there.

Also is there a bus that runs from Amman to the dead Sea area. How much would a taxi ride from central Amman to the Dead Sea cost?

Just wondering what is a reasonable price to pay for a ride from the airport to the hotel. We are staying at the Crystal Suites in Amman (5th Circle, Towards King Abdullah Gardens, across from the Four Seasons and Sheraton. The hotel charges 30 JD for a pickup. Would catching a taxi from the airport be significantly cheaper? Are there fixed prices for the airport cabs?

hi i am a canadian currently in kuwait. next month i plan to visit jordan & jerusalem. i will arrive in amman, from there go to petra. then go to jerusalem. then return to petra

please share any tips and advice about:

- the best way to get from amman to petra: taxi or bus? what is the cost for each

- to go from petra to jerusalem: should i go straight from petra, or first return to amman and then go from there? i am travelling on my canadian passport but i must avoid an israeli stamp because i will be returning to the gulf. which bridge crossing is the best. whats the best way to get from petra to jerusalem

i will be staying in jerusalem for 3 weeks late summer to participate in the Temple Mount Sifting program, and wanted to be able to travel to Amman to see the archaeological museum there that has the dead sea scrolls. i also heard the copper scroll is there? does anyone know?

anyway, i am a lady traveling alone, and can you tell me a way to get there so i could see the museum, etc. i have no car, so bus? plane?
