| Amman | Clothing for November weather? Posted: Mon October 22, 2007 02:04 PM UTC
I'll be in Jordan in early November. What clothing should I be taking besides the regular slacks, short-sleeve tops, a sweater and good walking shoes? My group will be going out to dinner but I think it won't be too upscale.

| Amman | Petra on foot -- a little disabled Posted: Mon October 22, 2007 01:55 PM UTC
Hello VTers,
I will be visiting Petra next month. I'm recovering from tendinitis on one foot and will still be hobbling around. Is walking around in Petra doable for me? (We will be staying in a hotel at the entrance of Petra, so very convenient.) Please advise. franceonisland |

| Amman | Weekly rate apartments with broadband Internet access? (willing to share a place) Posted: Tue October 9, 2007 06:15 AM UTC
I'll be staying in Amman for a few weeks. I will be by myself, so I don't really care how crappy the apartment is as long as it is cheap and has hispeed internet access.
I also wouldn't mind sharing a place with someone as long as the two above conditions are met. Please help. Thanks, |

| Amman | Renting a car Posted: Sat September 29, 2007 10:54 PM UTC
Is it possible to rent a car in Amman, drive south towards Petra and Wadi Rum. Then, drive back up towards Jerusalem and Bethlahem with a stop at the Dead Sea on the way, then finally drop the car off at Tel Aviv airport. Or is all that too far-fetched? Trying to plan my vacation for next summer, and can't find a good way to get around Jordan and Israel without hitting up all the good spots. I am also planning a flight to Cairo after Tel Aviv.

| Amman | Arriving at Amman Airport 4pm on Monday during Ramadan - best way to move quickly south? Posted: Fri September 21, 2007 07:53 AM UTC
Will have only 5 days on ground in Jordan in early October.
The thought is to do Amman Airport (direct-->) Wadi Rum --> Petra --> Dead Sea --> Amman Airport. Wouldn't mind skipping Amman altogether; would like to know if arriving at sunset in Amman during Ramadan precludes making a move the same night to Wadi Rum, or anywhere else of interest for that matter. Am reading past posts in forum and some of your Jordan pages; would appreciate any suggestions! |

| Amman | Transportation betw Amman airport, Petra, Dead Sea. Posted: Fri September 14, 2007 07:35 PM UTC
I am planning a travelling trip to Amman during 12 to 15 october. Intend to cover Petra and Dead Sea.
I though of staying at Petra Palace hotel (heard its 300m fr Petra site) but not sure if they can provide hotel transfer service. If they don't, by what means of transport is available? Is there any bus route from Amman airport to Petra. If i get taxi from airport, how much its cost (estimate abt 100miles) & do they run on meter? From Petra to Dead Sea, is there any bus route, how long its take & fare? If taxi? Also from Dead Sea back to Amman, any bus route? Thanks for advise, am quite blur especially as single traveller new to Jordan. |

| Amman | visiting -- in/around Amman Posted: Wed September 12, 2007 01:17 AM UTC
Hey there,
It wasn't planned, but once I got here I found out that I have to stay in Amman for a while instead of the original one day I thought I was staying. I don't know anyone and have nothing in particular to do. I've read all there is to read on places to go and things to do, but I'd rather do it with other people. Any tips on something "interactive" any tours or horsback riding treks that don't come with the full package (accomodation etc.), any events that you wouldn't really know about if you were a tourist :) Any advice would be much appreciated. Peace out |

Are the signs clear for not entering Jordan and transferring to the the departure section? Thanks in advance for your help. |

| Amman | Laptop and Internet at Hotel? Posted: Wed August 22, 2007 01:12 PM UTC
I will be staying at the Crowne Plaza Amman and the Crowne Plaza Petra while visiting in November and I am wondering about the internet services at these hotels..... Not certain if I want to carry my laptop through 12 days of Egypt and the on to Jordan, but I do write a travel blog daily with pictures and would like to keep this current during my travels. Are there any internet cafes close to either, or both, of these hotels? Thanks for any assistance on this matter.

Hope to have a nice 4 day visit to Amman at "Le Royal" hotel this Thursday. Is it within walking distance from any shops or malls? Or do I have to use taxis? What's the nearest mall, and how much should I give the taxi? Or are they metered anyway?

| Amman | Arriving to Amman Airport at 3:30 in the morning... safe? Posted: Mon April 16, 2007 08:14 PM UTC
Hello,
My plane is arriving to Amman Airport at 3:30 in the morning from Frankfurt. Seems like a somewhat risky time to be ariving to the airport and looking for a taxi? (I'm alone) Does anybody have experiences taking a taxi that late at night? I think my hotel will be pretty centrally located in the city. Likewise, when I fly out, I've got the 5AM flight back to Frankfurt, which means I should plan on being there by 3AM or so. Yikes! Advice? thansk! ps /how much is a taxi from the airport to downtown? |
