Amman DEAD SEA
Posted: Tue September 15, 2009 08:02 AM UTC
Hi, Can someone tell me what I should take with me when I visit the Dead sea during the first week of December?
Will a swimsuit be ok or is it better to wear shorts and a top?
Are there any massages that are recommended? if so, what would it cost?
Is a shower cap recommended or is it better to get your hair wet?
How long should one float on the water?

Amman Female Dorm/Female Hostel?
Posted: Thu March 26, 2009 06:18 AM UTC
Hello! I am a female undergraduate student coming to study Arabic at the University of Jordan Language Center this June until August. The UJLC site suggests several options for foreign female students, including female and international on-campus dorms and several off-campus female hostels nearby like the Amoun, Jerash, and Utopia Hostels. Does anyone have any experience with these places or suggestions for others? Also, if anyone knows of a homestay I could be set up with, that would be great too. Basically, I am just looking for the best environment to practice my Arabic and meet as many people as possible, as I will be travelling by myself. Any info would be greatly appreciated :)

Amman Safety in Amman
Posted: Fri February 13, 2009 07:24 PM UTC
Hi...
I moved to Amman few weeks ago. I have rented a flat where I live alone with my children. My husband is still working in the UK, so I have to manage to do eveything on my own. I like Jordan very much. I have been in Amman many times before on holiday with my husband who is Jordanian. I always thought of Amman as a very safe place to life. But, now, after talking about this matters with a few Jordanian friends, don,t know what to think. I have been told not to go out at night on my own or to go in a taxi at night, not to talk to to any extranger or to invate anybody at my home if I'm alone...Are all these things that I shorld be worried about? or, is it really safe for me and my children to go out at night to the mall by taxi? Also, i have been told not to open the door if i don't know that person or not to go to the Balad alone, or to talk to any man who tryes to speak to me if I don't know him.
please, tell me if these things are rules to follow or if Amman is safe and I shoudn't worry.
Thanks a lot!!!
If there anything else that I should know...
All the best.

Amman Transportation help
Posted: Sat December 20, 2008 10:51 PM UTC
I am currently planning a trip that will begin in Jordan and end in Cairo. I am arriving in Amman at 1:30am and we are really only interested in visiting the Petra before taking the ferry to Egypt in Aqaba the next day. Is it possible to add a quick trip to the Dead Sea on our way to Petra? My main question though is what is the best way for me to travel from Amman to Petra and about how much should I expect to pay. Thanks for any help in advance.

Amman Jordan Visa Questions
Posted: Fri December 12, 2008 06:27 PM UTC
I'm planning on entering Jordan by the King Hussien Bridge. From what I understand they don't issue visa's at that crossing. My plan is to get a visa in advance from an agency here in the states that works through various embassy's. Will that visa be valid at the King Hussien crossing? I would imagine it would but I don't like leaving anything to chance so if anyone here knows of any additional visa restrictions they have at that crossing it would be appreciated. Also what are the options of transportation from the King Hussien bridge to Amman? Thanks in advance!
