We are planning a trip to stay in the paradors at Chinchon, Alarcon and Ubeda and Jaen. We do not want to drive. Can we get bus transportation? We have taken trains and buses throughout Castilla-Leon successfully. We are planning to get a bus from Madrid to Chinchon but after that we are stumped. Any help or suggestions are appreciated!!
One website I read indicates that many restaurants, shops, and museums (things of interest to tourists) are closed daily between the hours of 14:00 to 16:00. Although I'm aware of siesta (and it seems like a great idea to me!), I have difficulty believing that everything shuts down in the afternoon given the touristic orientation of Toledo. Can someone please illuminate?
I'll be in Toledo for one day without a car. I'd need to cross the river and I think I read somewhere that there are scenic overlooks. Is there a bus that goes that way? Does it stop at the scenic overlooks? How often does it stop there? Are there any better ways of doing this?
Does anyone know if there is a map of bus routes or bus stops available? I found the bus website (www.unauto.es) but it is difficult for a non-local to figure out where the stops are. Many thanks in advance.
Hi!
I am living in Aranjuez.. without a car... and i was wondering if anyone knows whether I can catch a bus from Cuenca to this "La ciudad Encatada"... so that i can go for a hike around and enjoy the nature...
thanks for you time...
I would like to take a high-speed AVE train from Madrid to Toledo and would love to join an organized tour of the city (need it to be in English since my Spanish is not that great).
Any suggestions? Are there any reputable companies organizing these kinds of tours?
I've been in toledo the 2nd of january and i've eaten in a lovely place, but unfortunately I don't remember the name...
I'll try to explain so maybe someone from Toledo could help me telling me the name of the place.
coming "up" in calle s.ursula, at corner with calle del taller del moro there is the place: a nice local with 2 big rooms and lovely tapas including carcamusa!!!
standing on the door of this place you can see on the right this:

and in front of the local there is a souvenirs shop.
can you help me? have you any photos of the local (interior or exterior) ?
many thanks

I and my friend wera planning to be in Toledo for a day Trip in 18/05/2008.
We are looking to a tourist guide to help us and explain about the city.
We also want to know if Talavera de La Reina is far from Toledo, cause I read that this particular sunday (18/05) is the end of San Isidro Festival there.
Thank you for reply
I want to take a day trip from Madrid to Toledo. I note from www.renfe.es that there is a discount for my return AVE ticket online. (EUR 9 + EUR 5.4). If I buy the return ticket at the train station instead of online, do I still get a discount?
At the kind suggestion of ATLC this question is re-asked in the Toledo forum as well as the world - thanks ATLC
I'm trying to finish off my Toledo page and hope someone with knowledge can assist please.
In the lead up to our trip that included the fascinating city of Toledo, Spain, I read of an incident from maybe 1000 years ago (or there-abouts) where a conquering group decided to try and make peace with the locals. They hosted a huge banquet and invited most of the city to attend. The locals all turned up in their finery and couple by couple was lead down a staircase and be-headed. Apparantly some 5000 lives were lost. That night is commemorated as "the night of the pit."
OK that's the story I got from somewhere (travel guide, book, whatever) and no amount of internet research can shed any light on the story, so I'm wondering if its one of those urban myth tales.
Hi all. I'd like to visit all of these places but have only been able to find trains that go from Madrid-Toledo-Madrid, Madrid-Seville-Madrid. Are there any buses/trains that go from Toledo-Seville or Seville-Toledo? If yes, where can I find a schedule & prices?
I'd like to go to Lisbon, Portugal and am trying to go a circle route:
Madrid-Toledo-Seville-Lisbon-Madrid (backwards is ok too). Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hello
I am trying to work out my driving itinerary. I am taking a route from Sierra de Carzorla, east. I am looking for a "pit stop" with the kids somewhere around Albacete. Would be good if there was something we could do with them but if not, like puppies, they'll just need a bit of exercising! So far I have come up with either Albacete or Chinchilla de Monte-Aragon. Can anyvody help please? What is there to do in either place? Is Chinchilla a beautiful stop? if so is there anything other than a walk on offer there? We will be coming from around Hornos which I believe is about 2 - 2.5 hours drive, so I don't really want to go an awful lot further than Chinchilla at this point.
Hi
I'm arriving in Madrid at 2:20pm and aim to take get to Atocha so I can catch the the train to Toledo from there. I want to plan my changeovers and also ask for estimated time. Can someone please kindly advise if I am changing at the right stops (least transfers?) and also how long will this all take if I want to meet the 3.50pm schedule @ Atocha.
Take line 8 and change @ Mars De Cristal
Take line 4 bound for Arguelles
Change @ Tribunal for line 1.
Alight @ Atocha to catch Avant bound for Toledo.
How long will this take? Is this the fastest route?
Hi fellow travellers
Do you know what would be my best option to travel from Madrid-Toledo-Seville in November 2007. Also do you know of any other airline (I know of Ryanair) that flies from Seville to London.
We are couple around age 50.planning trip to Madrid and its neighbored and from there to the south of Spain about two weeks approximately, begin from middle October ( constraints of time ). The track includes cities, history, Judaism and sceneries)
Day 1 and 2- landing Madrid ( lodging 2 nights ),
day 3- departure Madrid in a with rented vehicle(with g.p.s until the last day , continue to Segovia ( lodging in the city)
day 4- continue to El Escorial valle de los caidos(not sure) and to Toledo. (lodging in the city)
Day 5 - departure to Cordoba ( lodging Cordoba ).
day 6– to Sevilla ( lodging in the city ).
day 7 - continue towards Jerej de la frontera and from there to Cadiz
Continue in the area of the beach Trafalgar Tarifa and Gibraltar ( lodging in the area ).
day 8 - continue to Estepona, Ronda, and the white villages that between Ronda, Acros de la Frontera. ( lodging in the area ).
day 9-
– From Ronda southward towards the sea, through Marbella, Malaga, Nerja and Almeria lodging in the area( Nerja or Almeria ).
Day 10- continue through Motril towards Granada ( lodging in the city ).
day 11 - continue to Granada to Guadix ( houses by the caves ) and continue to the park Cazorla ( lodging in the area ) .
day 12- returned towards Granada and Sierra Nevada ( lodging in the area ).
day 13- continue to Malaga ( lodging in the city ) and the next day flight to Madrid .
We will be happy to receive an opinion from those who experienced the similar trip or parts from this tour. We will be happy to receive ideas how to plan a better plan. ( As a result from the visit Park cazorla there are long journeys in the area of Granada).
To Malaga we can arrive in the end of the trip because we take off from there.
Any tips will get accepted with thanks.
I have been to Spain 4 times, I am looking for something specific in the Damascene plates and tiles. I can not find an email address or website for any shops, I want to buy from there, not ebay. let me know.
I am planning my trip to Spain later this year. I would like to visit Toledo and then go to Bodegas in Malpica de Tajo. Could you please advise about the buses to get there from Toledo. Also where I can get the timetable of those.
We are going to be being backpacking Europe this summer. We will be in Madrid May 21-24 and we wanted to take a day trip to Toledo. What is the cheapest way to get there (and about how much is that) and do we need to prebook the tickets? If so where do we do that or if not, where do we get tickets once we are over in Madrid?
In my earlier post I overlooked checking the VT page for Cuenca first, and noticed there was a bus. Couple of questions:
- Is the bus still available?
- Once the bus, or train arrives in Cuenca, is it easy to find a taxi into the Parador?
- Everyone states it's very safe - I will be traveling by myself this time - so will Wonder Woman without special powers be OK there walking thru streets?
