I'm arriving with a 5-yr old kid and my husband on the 14th. I want to check-in on hotels/inns which are one ride away from the airport. We will be staying for a few hours then go to our real destination which is Cainta in the morning. Any suggestions for inns near there? We are traveling with a tight budget. Pls recommend good but affordable inns/lodges.

Does any one know if the National Museum in old Senate building is still open and what is their schedules and entrance fee? Because last time I went there with my niece it was close the one that is open is the annex building. How about the Central Bank money Museum is it open for walk in as well and same thing how much is the entrance and schedules of visits! I am making now my itenerary for my vacation this comming December hope somebody can help me on this.

We are looking into reserving for a week at this bldg. called BSA - located right in front of Greenbelt 5. The company who handles BSA is called Quantum. Would anyone know how their service is and how the apts efficiency is compared to other rental apartments for tourists? Any helpful feedback would be greatly appreciated and if you have any other bldg. suggestions kindly let us know. Thank you.

My family & I going on vacation from 1st Dec - 5th Dec 09. Will reach Manila Intl airport around noon. My plan is to go to Boracay but it seems difficult to get there at the moment. If I decide to stay in Manila, what can we do or where can we go to have fun? I'm more concerned on my children (age 10, 7 & 8month old) especially its my daughter's birthday. I'm also thinking of Subic Bay. It is far or difficult to get there?

I have been talking ot a guy on anouther travel forum who has been really helpful and nice, whop has offered to arange transpoort and come with me to a place a few hours from Manila.

Now the time is coming up, family and friends are advising me to not do it being a single female travelling. I seeit as no different to going with a company or taxi in that you dont know who youa re with but they all disagree.

This is the only way i can do it or go by bus...

I would like to pose another question for advice. I'm coming back to Manila during X'mas & NY period this year.
Previously, I have not bothered with jabs or medications for likely tropical diseases there. Simple reason being that I have not really gone anywhere outside of metro-regions.

In fact, in all my travels through SE Asia for the last 15 years, I have never taken any precautions like this. I've been through jungle treks in Thailand, Malaysia, etc. The worst I got was leeches on my legs.

However, I have heard that the recent rains and flooding is likely to breed a lot more mosquitoes even in Manila.

Do I consider anti-Malarial measures this time? I am a mosquito magnet unfortunately...SIGH

Heading Manila in the next 2 weeks and need to get a Chinese visa while there. Any idea on how long this will take as my flight out of Manila is already booked????

I'm getting pretty excited to be back there during X'mas and NY. It seems unbelievable that it is only 3-months before X'mas. where has the year gone? It must be true that as you get older, time just seems to go by faster.

Anyway, enough of me jabbering. The questions I have are:

1. I arrive in the arvo. on X'mas day - will this be a hassle in terms of transportation to/from airport?

I don't know what the situation is there in terms of what people do during this period. For example, is this just a normal day with everyone out and about or will it be extra congested?

2. As I posted before, the GF and I are hoping to see in NY at MOA. But we are concerned about the transport situation back to our residence.
Last time we were at MOA around closing time (10pm from memory) - the taxis started to get very scarce and became like the mafia. Off the meter, pay extra or they won't take you.

With NYE, this will be even later. What options do we have?
Should we prebook taxi for pick-up?
Is this even available and can it be relied upon?

I don't want to be stranded at MOA...

Will be flying into Manila in a few weeks. I would like to know of a great steak place to eat at in the Mall of Asia. Looking for a well cooked steak and a nice bottle of wine to be served with it. Maybe by the bay so we can watch the fireworks also on Saturday night.
Also I need to know which terminals I need to be at for my flights out of Manila. I will be flying Pal air to Tugeugarao and my friend will be flying Pal air to Davao. Can you please tell me wich terminals we need to be at? Our flights are around the 1030 on Sunday morning. So I hope I am right in leaving the Hotel in Malate around 700 to get there in time.
