Mount Everest View of Mt. Everest from Lukla?
Posted: Sat January 26, 2008 08:51 PM UTC
Next year I am flying to Lukla. Due to time constraints and acclimatization issues I will not be able to hike to Base Camp. From my reading, it does not appear that one can actually see Everest from Lukla. Is the closest area that you can actually see Everest (weather permitting of course) at Namche Bazaar? Is there an area closer to Lukla where one can actually see Everest? Thank you.

Mount Everest What should I do to prepare myself?
Posted: Sat December 1, 2007 05:33 PM UTC
I'm talking long-range plans. I'm a 17-year-old Junior in high school, but for years I've had a passion for climbing. I'm involved in Boy Scouts (I'm about to get Eagle), and I love going on hikes in the Smokey Mountains. I want to summit Mount Everest some day. What should I do to get ready for a summit trip? How can I prepare myself?

I'd appreciate any help; a few websites with Everest info would be nice, too (I've already read these pages: http://www.mounteverest.net/expguide/dream.htm).

Mount Everest Advanced base camp Tibet side
Posted: Thu September 6, 2007 07:09 PM UTC
Hey, I'm writing for my boyfriend who is not aware of the great use of "forums". I signed him up to receive any responses that you may have. He is leaving for China on Monday, September 10, 2007 and he wants to go to the Advanced Base Camp on the Tibet side in October. He said that he would like recommendations on a great Treking company and on what type of gear to take. Also what would be the temperature in October?

Mount Everest Base camp in winter
Posted: Wed August 29, 2007 12:01 PM UTC
Hi All,
I'm planning a trip to Nepal, and would like to do the Everest Base Camp trek. Unfortunately the only time I have to do this is during the month of december, however I do not know if this is possible at this time of year.
Has anyone done this trek during december? Are the high altitude parts passable?
If the answer is no, does anyone know a good Nepal trek that is do-able at that time of year?
Many thanks,
Matt

Mount Everest do they sell t-shirts when you get there?
Posted: Sat February 24, 2007 09:06 AM UTC
hiyas,

is the Everest Base Camp trek all that its cracked up to be?

I get the feeling that yes, its a great experience and a rewarding trek, but at the end of the day people are just hiking there for the sake of being able to say they have!
and as a result the route and path taken is over used and over crowded, although I can understand that this has a beneficial impact to the local communities and sherpas (but probably not the environment)

I'd like to hear from people who have done the EBC trek to gauge their opinions as I'm planning a trip there in May this year and am undecided about doing the EBC trek or not (I only have about 2.5 weeks free for Nepal)

cheers :)

Mount Everest Little Help
Posted: Sun February 11, 2007 09:25 PM UTC
Ok I am traveling to Mumbai (Bombay) in March of this year 07. I would very much like to see Everest. I have no desire to get to base camp but I will be entering Nepal from the Indian side and just want to see Mt. Everest and take some pics. Anybody know what a good route is? I will be traveling alone unfortunately but have two weeks to see India/Nepal. I have never traveled in India or Nepal before. I'm still not sure how I plan to get up there from Mumbai but if anybody has any advice please let me know. I'm thinking Mumbai to Agra and then on up to Nepal but possibly from Varanasi b/c I hope to see both of those Indian cities. So train or plane or if I can get to the monastery near Everest would be happy. So if anyone has done anything like this let me know again I'll be alone and safety is an issue.

Hi guys !

I am experienced trekker would like to trekking on EBC next april. I have 3 weeks schedule which the goal will be stand in Kala Pattar. But since I learned that Kala Pattar is not the true EBC so I decided to go little bit further.
The questions is : how long it will take to True EBC back to Gorak Shep. Should I go to Kala Pattar heading back Gorak Shep and make a push to EBC.

Appreciate for any suggestion ....

Mount Everest Kala Pattar trek
Posted: Mon August 14, 2006 01:04 PM UTC
Myself and 4 frinds would like to do the Kala pattar trek starting from march 16th 2007. we would fly to lukla and trek from there and back.

Has anyone got suggestions for a good guide/sherpa that we could hire?

Can we organise the guide and accomodation when we are there or is it best to do this before?

We are keen to avoid paying for an expensive package deal but of course need experienced and safe guides.

Thanks for your help.

Mount Everest 3 weeks in Nepal
Posted: Fri July 7, 2006 11:32 AM UTC
Hey all,

What do u think of this, in 3 weeks:

Arriving in New Dehli (India), train to Kathmandu, hop around Nepal, jeep to Lhasa (Tibet), hop a bit around Tibet and then plain back to new Dehli and flight home.

I know 3 weeks is not much but: is it a VERY short time? (I don't really mind sleeping only a few hours each night)

Consider I'd like to: view magnificent views and feel a bit of himalayan misticism and - if possible - see wildlife..

(P.s., very important: will I be able to see bengal tigers, anywhere in these palces?)

Thanks very much!

Mount Everest Tibet/Nepal/Everest help
Posted: Mon May 8, 2006 11:46 PM UTC
I am thinking about backpacking thru this region in the autumn. My goal is to enter Nepal from China (or vice versa, and this is signficant because of possible border issues?), and along the way, I want to see the best views of Mt. Everest that are allowed with the least amount of trekking possible, and I want to view it FROM THE GROUND.

So... any suggestions? Where might I go for these views? How long a hike would I be looking at? Is it better/easier to enter China from Nepal, or Nepal from China?

Thank you in advance,
Brian

Mount Everest short cut trekking
Posted: Sat March 11, 2006 01:12 PM UTC
Hello to every Nepal-Lover!

A breathtaking look at the Everest seems to be a must once you make it to Nepal. But I wont have the time to do a 21day trekking trip to the base camp. I read it is possible to reach Tengboche Monastery in three days from Tukla.
Has anybody experienced this part? Is the view good enough/worth it?

Just from looking at the map it seems that Dingboche or Periche is the same distance like Tengboche, but offers a better view on the mountains.
Can you compare these places or recommend a better place considering the time-view-trade-off?

Thanks a lot!

Mount Everest EVEREST MAY/JUNE
Posted: Wed January 11, 2006 06:04 PM UTC
We are on a tight schedule and were thinking of a 2week trek? is this possible?

Our aim is to get close enough to everest for some good views, but we arent too worried about getting really close or really high.

The plan was to organise the trek in Kathmandu or Lukla and start in Namche.

We are reasonably experienced trekkers, so is it possible to do this on our own? or should we use a guide?

we have loads of questions, but these are the most important right now.

Your help is really appreciated

Mount Everest Burning Lady Waste....
Posted: Thu September 1, 2005 03:56 PM UTC
Hi,
I have a friend that's trekking to Base Camp in October and I promised to try and find a solution to her problem and its not one for the guys I'm afraid...

She's travelling with a group of men and going to find herself on her period at some point on the trip. She's been told that she's can't wear tampons due to TSS at that altitude and that she's going to have to carry her 'waste' with her the whole way. Mmmm mmm. The alternative is to burn towels, but after a little experiment this doesn't work, you're just left with a mess of melted plastic!

Has anyone got any better ideas than self sealing sandwich bags? :)

Cheers

Mount Everest Trekking companies
Posted: Mon August 29, 2005 07:21 PM UTC
Hi,

I'm thinking about making a treking trip to the Mount Everest area. There sure is a lot of useful information on the Internet. Some say the area is safe and there's been no threats or events with tourists and other say the exactly opposite.

Is there anyone who has a line on this?

Is there certain treking companies you should avoid?

How big is the risk of getting robbed? Of course you'd want to carry a decent camera to capture the experience but at the same time you don't want to put yourself at risk.

Thanks in advance.

Mount Everest Mt. Everest physical preparation
Posted: Sun August 7, 2005 09:31 AM UTC
I am interested in doing a 15-23 day hike to Mt. Everest base camp. Living in Florida doesn't give me access to mountain or altitude training. Can someone who has made the climb give me an idea what type of training or what type of bench marks should be done in preparation for the hike? I am a 35 year old runner and I work out with weights.

Thanks
