Tehran Transport from the airport to the city
Posted: Fri March 9, 2007 11:09 AM UTC
I will be arriving at the airport (IKIA) at 03:00 and am wondering about transport to the city.

I am assuming that there will be taxis available at that time in the morning, but are there official taxis with meters, pre-paid taxis or do you just take pot-luck with drivers outside the terminal?

Tehran Women's Golf in Iran
Posted: Sun February 18, 2007 12:04 AM UTC
I'm a freelance golf writer and would like to play golf in Iran. I've heard that women are now playing quite a bit and even competing. I'v heard there's a particular dress code which includes a specially conceived scarf. I'd like to know if those who live or have traveled in Iran (Tehran particularly) feel that this type of activity would be do-able in the context of the social structure. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Tehran Safety.
Posted: Wed February 7, 2007 03:20 PM UTC
I would very much like to visit Tehran and some neighbouring cities but I have been warned about safety because of the political situation at the moment. Could you advise on how safe it would be for two westerners to visit and if so what precautions should we take?
Thankyou.

Tehran Travel documents and current travel to Tehran
Posted: Wed November 22, 2006 12:34 AM UTC
My wife is planning on going home to Tehran to visit her family. She will be traveling alone because due to my work I can not travel right now, but I'm letting her travel because she is a little home sick and it will be good for her and her family. (In the past we have visited her family in Dubai.) She has a valid Iranian passport and a U.S. green card. She will also be carrying our legal marriage certificate for re entry into the U.S. The names do not match on the passport and the green card due to marriage. Her U.S. green card is in her married name. We are Muslim, but she now has a generic western sir name. I am a devout practicing Muslim convert, but I am American and not Iranian. I have read and been told about some very frustrating travel stories in Iran, being denied entry or exit and having travel documents taken. etc ... We also have friends that have had absolutely no problems at all traveling to and from Iran, but we don't know anyone that has traveled to Tehran in the last year. In the expert opinion of the VTrs who have traveled recently, do you think I should be concerned or do you think it's alright to let her travel? Thank you

Tehran Mahan Air - Birmingham to Lahore via Tehran
Posted: Mon November 13, 2006 10:54 AM UTC
Hi,

Could anyone recommend this airline?? I will be travelling with them for the 1st time soon and there doesn't seem to be many reviews anywhere. Also, are there good facilities att Tehran airport for transiting passengers?

Any tips on appropriate dress/manners while dealing with the officials at the airport as I know Iran is a very conservative country.

Thanks Very Much

Tehran Swimming in Tehran?
Posted: Wed September 27, 2006 10:18 PM UTC
Hi,

I'm looking for an indoor swimming pool in Tehran where you can actually swim, i.e. where there are not that many people bombing, wrestling, swimming across, diving, fighting, playing volleyball and doing all sorts of things that Iranians seem to do on a swimming pool (the list does not include actual swimming).

Can anybody help out?

Cheers,

I have only 4 days 5 nights.. is that enough time to see Esfahan... and Persepolis... or if I can only see one.. which one is the best one of the two choices...recommendations on transportation or on good (not too expensive) travel agencies.. would be appreciated..

Tehran Little meeting in a teahouse in Teheran?
Posted: Wed May 17, 2006 09:11 AM UTC
Hi, I am flying to Teheran tomorrow night. On Saturday I will be working all night, but on Friday I will be free in the evening and I was thinking how nice it would be to arrange a little meeting of some VTs in one of this absolutely wonderful teahouses in Teheran, where you can sit outside drinking tea and smoking waterpipe. I was there last year with Maryam - a wonderful VT lady, I hope you read this too, Maryam, and would love to go there and meet some of you guys!
Cheers

Hi everyone. I'm an american student going to Tehran for a summer internship. My father is Iranian but I have never been and don't speak much Farsi. I am looking for a place to live during June and July. If there is any kind of student housing or a service to rent a room with a family, that would be great. Please let me know if anyone knows of how I should go about trying to rent a room. I would like to be as close to the city center as possible. Thanks, Azar

Tehran My financee is an Iranian national
Posted: Wed February 8, 2006 05:12 PM UTC
She is going home to Tehran to visit family soon, then she will be leaving Tehran and traveling to the USA for our matrimony inshaallah. She has a USA visa. I heard due to the recent political climate, that there is some restriction on travel to the USA from Iran. I am not sure if this is just rumor or not, and was wondering if anyone has any news on this?

We are sadly now considering about her just traveling directly to the USA from her current country of residence.
