trying to email ATLAS HOTEL Posted: Tue January 15, 2008 09:53 AM UTC
I have been trying to email the Atlas hotel in Tehran at the address mentioned on the hotel's website, info@atlas-hotel.com Alas, sending to this address does not succeed, my internet provider informing me that my email could not be sent to this address. Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong here? I know that some hotels there will not reply to emails, but my problem is getting it to them in the first place.

Can get airticket online before arrival IKA airport? Posted: Sun December 30, 2007 02:53 PM UTC
1. My schedule will arrive Terhan IKA airport at 4 am. I want to fly out to Shiraz or somewhere that morning without going to the Terhan city. Seems I can't get the Iran Air webpage nor get ticket online. Any suggestion? Also international and domestic same airport?
2. Is it easy to get airticket one day before flying off from the departing city? They usually take cash or credit card?
Thank you.

Fridays and Saturdays Posted: Sat November 10, 2007 05:51 AM UTC
I shall be spending a few days in Tehran, including a Friday and a Saturday. I am told that there are 'non business' days, as are Saturdays and Sundays in Australia and many other countries. I am wondering if places such as markets will be open on these two days. Basically what will be open and what will be closed?

easy to obtain visa Posted: Sat October 27, 2007 08:39 AM UTC
Australians wanting to visit Iran should not find it difficult to obtain a visa. We recently downloaded the visa application form from the Iranian embassy in Canberra and sent it off to them. Just two weeks later our passports were returned, containing the visas. However, despite our application stating that we would be travelling there in mid February, the visas expiry date was late January! A phone call to Ali at the embassy resulted in us being asked to return our passports for alteration. Problem fixed! At no stage was it necessary for us to obtain some sort of 'number' to send with our application, as has been mentioned by some VT users.

cable-car up mountains Posted: Thu October 25, 2007 10:11 PM UTC
I believe that a cable car trip is available into the mountains to the immediate north of the city. Hoping that you can give me some general information about it. Where would I tell a taxi driver to take me to reach the cable car, does it have only one stop at the top, or stops along the way, and is there a restaurant etc at the summit? many thanks

A cold beer in Tehran? Posted: Tue October 16, 2007 06:11 PM UTC
Seriously.. Can I have a cold beer in the privacy in of my room after a days sightseeing in Tehran? There must be a way. I'm Christian, not muslim and totally respect Islam (I live in an Islamic country) - is there a way to grab a few coldies for a 4 day trip? I have had no trouble in Kish but it's a bit different there.

south Tehran safety Posted: Tue October 16, 2007 03:40 PM UTC
My father and I shall be spending a few days in Tehran in few months, assuming our visas are approved. While we shall be staying and spending most of our time in what we are told is the more well to do northern area, we would like to spend a day visiting the, I believe, more traditional southern area of Tehran. I am wondering if attitudes towards westerners and attention we may receive are different to what we will experience in the north. Anything we should be wary of?

Tours to take in iran for a 21 year old girl? Posted: Mon September 17, 2007 06:41 PM UTC
Hello there,
I am actually traveling to Tehran, Iran after 12 years this Nouroz.
I was wondering if anybody knows any best tourist tour around Iran. I would actually like to see the more historical cities around and concentrate on my heritage.
Please let me know which tour would be the best. I am not looking for a very high class nor fancy one and I do speak Farsi well enough to get me around, I just want a tour that could and would have no trouble. Especially when it comes to my age and gender 21 year old girl. Please let me know if I am going to have trouble finding a tour who would accept me being there or do I have to bring in somebody else with me since I am a young girl?
Thanks a lot.

three or four star hotel in Tehran Posted: Sun September 16, 2007 02:04 PM UTC
We shall be spending two nights in Tehran and are looking for a quality hotel from U.S $130 to $150 per night. I am told that North Tehran is the more desirable area for tourists to stay. We shall be flying in to Imam Khomeini at 9am, and wondered how far suggested hotels are from this airport, and what we should expect to pay fo travel from the airport to the hotel.

Transport from the airport to the city Posted: Fri March 9, 2007 12:09 PM UTC
I will be arriving at the airport (IKIA) at 03:00 and am wondering about transport to the city.
I am assuming that there will be taxis available at that time in the morning, but are there official taxis with meters, pre-paid taxis or do you just take pot-luck with drivers outside the terminal?

Women's Golf in Iran Posted: Sun February 18, 2007 01:04 AM UTC
I'm a freelance golf writer and would like to play golf in Iran. I've heard that women are now playing quite a bit and even competing. I'v heard there's a particular dress code which includes a specially conceived scarf. I'd like to know if those who live or have traveled in Iran (Tehran particularly) feel that this type of activity would be do-able in the context of the social structure. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Safety. Posted: Wed February 7, 2007 04:20 PM UTC
I would very much like to visit Tehran and some neighbouring cities but I have been warned about safety because of the political situation at the moment. Could you advise on how safe it would be for two westerners to visit and if so what precautions should we take?
Thankyou.

Travel documents and current travel to Tehran Posted: Wed November 22, 2006 01:34 AM UTC
My wife is planning on going home to Tehran to visit her family. She will be traveling alone because due to my work I can not travel right now, but I'm letting her travel because she is a little home sick and it will be good for her and her family. (In the past we have visited her family in Dubai.) She has a valid Iranian passport and a U.S. green card. She will also be carrying our legal marriage certificate for re entry into the U.S. The names do not match on the passport and the green card due to marriage. Her U.S. green card is in her married name. We are Muslim, but she now has a generic western sir name. I am a devout practicing Muslim convert, but I am American and not Iranian. I have read and been told about some very frustrating travel stories in Iran, being denied entry or exit and having travel documents taken. etc ... We also have friends that have had absolutely no problems at all traveling to and from Iran, but we don't know anyone that has traveled to Tehran in the last year. In the expert opinion of the VTrs who have traveled recently, do you think I should be concerned or do you think it's alright to let her travel? Thank you

Hi,
Could anyone recommend this airline?? I will be travelling with them for the 1st time soon and there doesn't seem to be many reviews anywhere. Also, are there good facilities att Tehran airport for transiting passengers?
Any tips on appropriate dress/manners while dealing with the officials at the airport as I know Iran is a very conservative country.
Thanks Very Much
