Mongolia zaya guest house good
Posted: Mon April 21, 2008 10:22 AM UTC
Zaya was reccommended by IHT and Lonely Planet "Mongolia" guide book. Reasonable price.Good location.Helpful and freindly staff. Most good value of Zaya: self-design tour in Mgl. We've gone on two trips with them (from UB to Bayan zag- kharkhorin) and are considering their awesome trip to Mongolia). Great prices and different levels of trips for most destinations. might be helpful her page :www.zayahostel.com
Next year i 'll intend again go to Mongolia.Could you advice any other tour operator?

Mongolia Mongolia visit - Nov 08
Posted: Sat March 15, 2008 03:54 PM UTC
Hi,
I am flying to Irutsk in Russia from Beijing in early November 08, spending a few days in the Lake Baikal region before catching the train to Ulaan Baator. I would like to spend 4-5 days on a tour in Momgolia, maybe hiring a jeep and driver, staying in a ger etc. Anyone in the area about that time interested in joining up for a tour?
Cheers

Ulaanbaatar Finding baby stuff in Ulaanbaatar
Posted: Tue February 19, 2008 02:18 AM UTC
I will be moving to Ulaanbaatar this summer with my wife Veronica and our 9 month old baby Eric. Does anyone have any information on how easy it is to get hold of baby stuff (powdered milk, nappies/diapers, winter clothes for babies, cribs, etc)? We will be travelling over from El Salvador, which is about as far from Mongolia as you can get. We will transport some things with us, but it will probably be expensive to bring any big items. Any info on what is available locally would be a big help.
Thanks

Mongolia book budget tour on spot- in U.B.
Posted: Tue January 29, 2008 06:40 AM UTC
hi to everybody!!

after having been persuaded 100 % (from you!) about visiting the country on a tour and not intependently, could you tell me your opinion about booking the tour while in ulan bataar and not from home?

i hope it would be better in terms of prices, choise and to see who you are dealing with, before making the agreement.
i'm afraid it might cause delays... but it would be ok if we could set of for mainland after 2-3 days in the capital.

any experiences?
many thanks

Mongolia "independent" travel
Posted: Mon January 21, 2008 10:38 AM UTC
Hello!

We (2 people) will be visiting Mongolia in a few months time. We booked our own flights into UB, however we still need a vehicle with a driver and a guide (perhaps even a cook). Can anyone suggest the cheapest way to arrange this and see as much of Mongolia in a period of approximately 3 weeks time?

Thanks a lot.

Mongolia Information about Trans Mongolian Express + driver/guide Mongolia
Posted: Fri October 5, 2007 11:31 AM UTC
Hi all,

Me and my gf want to take the Trans Mongolian Express in May next year. I was wondering what the average price is for a train ticket from Moskow to Bejing with 2 stopovers, one in Irkutsk (Russia) and the other in Ulan Bator (Mongolia).

We'll stay for only 5/6 days in Mongolia. We are thinking about renting a russian jeep with a driver (who will also be the guide). Has anyone had some good experience with a driver/guide? What was the trip you made and what will be the roughly price?

These are a lot of questions but I really hope someone has some good suggestions/tips!

Thx,

Jurijn

Mongolia a city (?) called ULDZ
Posted: Tue July 10, 2007 12:42 PM UTC
Hi! Maybe it sounds strange, but under my computer I've got a map and, in Mongolia, there are writed five cities, and one of them is Uldz

I felt really curiosity with this city (lovely name) and I searched some information in internet, but I didn't fine nearly anything. I also looked for it on Google Earth and it doesn't appear.
I wrote a mail to the factory that makes the map, to ask why they put Uldz and they haven't answer me

so.. There is someone in the whole internet that can tell me how is Uldz, where it is, how can someone go there, how many people live there, is it beautiful or not, something..?

if you know anything about Uldz, please write me at tiamat_relats@yahoo.es

please please please. Anything could be great

Thank you

Mongolia One night in the country - Where?
Posted: Mon June 11, 2007 01:52 PM UTC
On our short break from the Trans-Mongolian we would like to spend one night in the country. Is there any place you'd recommend? We are looking for beautiful scenery, within easy reach of Ulan Baatar, where we can maybe hike for a few hours or ride a horse and spend the night in a family ger. We want to travel independently and avoid tourgroups and places (relatively) crawling with tourists. We'd rather not stay in a tourist camp but instead stay with a family.
Is there any place that springs to mind?
Thanks,

Mongolia Mongolia- How to get to Ghen Ghis Khan's town
Posted: Wed June 6, 2007 02:29 AM UTC
Ghenghis Khan is such a national hero as much as an icon in Mongolia.
Me, my GF and friends are planning to visit Mongolia between the months of February to May. We will stay there for 2 weeks...

I'd like to know how far is the birth place of Genghis Khan from the capital city, how many days/hours travel from the city ? How do we get there and what is the most convenient mean of transpo.

Also how many days it will take to Beijing via the Trans Mongolian train? How much is the costs of one way train fare Ullan Bataar to Beijing?

Thanks

Ulaanbaatar Train UB - Beijing
Posted: Mon June 4, 2007 01:54 PM UTC
Looking for advise on train travel between Ulaan Baator and Beijing.

I am in the process of organising a three week train trip from the Netherlands all the way to Beijing (we'll fly back). Obviously we want to make a few stops along the way, but we won't have a lot of time. I read somewhere that there aren't many trains between UB en Beijing and because August is a busy season it is advised to book train tickets ahead of time. What do you think? Should I use an agent to get tickets for the UB - Beijing stretch to make sure we don't get stuck in Mongolia waiting for a train? We do have a plane to catch in Beijing and we don't have much leeway. Is there an agent you would recommend? Or do you think we should be fine if we buy the tickets when we arrive in UB two or three days before we leave again. Are there alternatives to the transmongolian trains? (In case it matters - we want to depart UB on August saterday 18th or sunday 19th.)

Your advice is much appreciated.
