| Stockholm | Looking for casual local lunch or "take out" suggestions Posted: Wed May 7, 2008 08:49 PM UTC
Hi,
Unfortunately I only have two days (non consecutive) in Stockholm during my August/Sept cruise in Europe and on one day was planning to walk the old town and perhaps visit a museum or two. I am looking for a casual place (outdoor would be preferred, but not necessary) to grab a local lunch and something to drink. Want to sample some traditional Swedish food, but not spend a lot of time or money. Don't even mind getting something at a market (fish?) to take out, if this is even an option. Can you suggest something? On my second day I thought I'd take a ferry to Fjärdeholmarna or Vaxholm and would want to find something similar. Any advice you can provide would be appreciated. |

| Stockholm | Solo Travel to Stockholm Posted: Mon May 5, 2008 04:10 AM UTC
I am heading to Stockholm @ the end of June - 8 nights; also doing 2 on the Silja ferry to Helsinki. I would love to meet some people (either from N. America or other countries or Sweden) there to possibly grab drinks or go to a club with so I am not doing everything by myself...that does get a bit boring. Sometimes solo travel makes it tough to get into the social scene but I really want to experience it - have heard it's a great time.
I am not sure if there are good places (forums/boards for travel) to see if others are headed there as well who might be single/late 20s. This seemed to be a good site. Maybe some recs. on bars/clubs for singles esp. ones that you could mix and mingle and not feel uncomfortable. I am also thinking of attending the Accelerator Indie music concert/fest on the 25th and would really be interested to hear from those who might also be going! My dates are June 24th - July 1st Thanks! |

Have been looking at Old Town.... also the expensive SAS Raddision Strand... love the hotel pics but price is 'outta sight! (unless anyone knows of a discounted web site!) Should we concentrate in the Gamia Stan
area or or or???? Like bright, airy, large room for two. Also, is a week too long and should we head out to??? for a night or two?? Love to shop, roam, pub crawl, cafes, people watch. |

| Stockholm | food and souvenirs Posted: Mon April 21, 2008 05:41 PM UTC
we are a family of 4 adults and a 11 year old child [ Indian Citizens ] coming to Stockholm for 3 days via Helsinki Viking Line . We will be staying at Hotel Oden 24 Karlbergsvagen . Is it possible to use the subway / citybus to reach the hotel from the Viking Line Port ? I think it is in a place called Stadsgardsleden . Are there some cheap supermarkets near our hotel where we can buy bread, milk, yoghurt, salads etc.? What is the best place to buy reasonably priced souvenirs of Sweden like fridge magnets , picture postcards , T-shirts etc . Thanks in advance

| Stockholm | Self-catering apartments for short stay? Posted: Thu April 10, 2008 09:25 AM UTC
Hi everyone,
i'm trying to find an apartment in Stockholm or surroundings for a three-day stay arriving 22 May. We are a group of six people (no children) and would prefer our own place to hotels or hostels, but we're not having much luck so far. I looked at 110apartments.com but they had no vacancies that suited us, and the only other self-catering places available seem to be holiday cottages out of town that can only be had by the week, not for three days. I'm getting rather frustrated now :o(. Any advice? Thanks! |

| Stockholm | dinner events in Stockholm Posted: Sat April 5, 2008 03:22 PM UTC
Our Forum IPsphere, is hosting a meeting in Stockholm. I need to plan a dinner event for the night of May 20th. I've been researching ideas over the internet but I live in the USA and its difficult since I've never been to Stockholm. From what I can see, its a beautiful city surounded by water. I was wondering if you could recommend 3-4 ideas of something a large group can do, approx. 40 people. Maybe a dinner cruise, great restaruant etc. We're interested in something historic to your city.
Could you please help with ideas, names etc. Thank you so much, Michelle |

| Stockholm | Cost of living Posted: Wed April 2, 2008 06:57 PM UTC
Hi
I've heard that Stockholm is still horrendously expensive compared to many European cities. What will shock me most? The price of a beer, a coffee, a meal, a hotel, transport? Any advice will be welcome. Oh yeah, I plan to buy a few CDs there too of Swedish bands I like, what do CDs cost? |

| Stockholm | SL 72-hour Travel card Posted: Sun March 30, 2008 01:33 AM UTC
I read from the internet that the 72 hour travel card include admission to Grona Lund. I am going to stockholm from April 4-8. Is that true that the park is closed?
Moreover, what are the other free admission or discount that are given with the 72 hour card. There is a post long time ago saying that it will also give 50% to Skasen, is this still the case? Many thanks! |

| Stockholm | Stockholm in May for a day Posted: Sat March 22, 2008 01:22 PM UTC
Hello There,
This will be our last stop (cruising) before we head back to London and then on to Canada. We would like to do our own sightseeing. It will have to be in 5 to 6 hours including stopping to have something to eat. Any help to do and see in Stockholm would be great. Would this be cheaper than going on excursion and booking with the cruise line? Thanks. |

| Stockholm | extended stay Posted: Thu March 20, 2008 11:46 AM UTC
Hi! I will be visiting some family in Stockholm. Actually in the suburbs. A hotel is too small for 2 adults and 3 kids. Is there a place to see if anyone rents out private furnished homes or apartments? There are no apartment hotels in the area. All are in Kista or Bromma. I need to be around Tumba, Slagsta or about 5 trains stops away. There doesnt seem to be any options.

Hi anyone,
I'll be going to Stockholm and Copenhagen on April 2008 with my wife. Fight confirmed but not accommodation. Anyone can recommend any cheap/budget stay for 2 person? We are looking for a double private room (If possible). Will be planning to stay in Stockholm for 4-5 days before going to Copehagen for another 4-5 days. Anyone knows the best way to Copenhagen from Stockholm (Fly or Train)? Cost & duration? Besides Stockholm & Copenhagen, I am also thinking of visiting the snow mountain (if time and cost permits). Where is the nearest snow mountain from Stockholm? Any advice on the above are really much appreicated. Thanks in advance. Regards, Lim |
