Maldives Maldives and Dubai
Posted: Sat April 26, 2008 04:59 AM UTC
Hello. Hope someone can help me. We are planning a trip to Dubai and Maldives for our honeymoon in October. We are from New York. We would like to fly to Dubai, stay there for 4-5 days and then move on to Maldives for 7-8 days and come back to Dubai and spend about 2-3 days in the desert and return back to NY. We would like to use our AMEX rewards for flight... Can someone please help me with airlines and routes.. we would like non-stop flights and it doesn't have to be through Dubai... We would just like to do more than one spot and not have to spend too much time flying... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maldives Which Island
Posted: Thu April 24, 2008 10:06 PM UTC
I am planning a much longed for trip to the Maldives. I've been thinking about it for years, but successive travel agents have put me off claiming that it's for Lovers only.

I plan to travel with my Mum.

Which islands are best for people who do not constitute a romantic couple?

Maldives Maldives cruise
Posted: Sun April 20, 2008 07:09 PM UTC
Hi
I am considering a Maldives cruise, all inclusive.
It is in the Yasawa Princess ship.
Has someone been on it and/or are there small villages on these islands.
I wouldn't want to go on an island where there is only a hotel as i would prefer to walk around the village and have a beer or 2.
Has anyone any experience of such travel.
Thanks in advance for all replies

Maldives July Weather
Posted: Sat April 19, 2008 11:01 AM UTC
Hi All

As the title suggests we are thinking about going to the maldives in early to mid july. I was wondering if any fellow members had been during this time and what the weather was like.
I realise it it out of season so i am not expecting much. Any help would be useful.
Also can anyone recommend a website where i can get a reasonable all inclusive price, i have never been long haul and i am a little nervous.

Thank you

Maldives Any Speadboat or Seaplane after midnight?
Posted: Sun April 13, 2008 12:16 AM UTC
Hi All,

I'll be arriving in Malé with a group of friends on the 13th of January 2008 at 01:15 AM. Is it possible to arrange a seaplane or speadboat transportation to any other island after we arrive? We don't want to have to spend the night in Malé.

Thanks!

Maldives Maldives Custom inquiry...
Posted: Sat April 12, 2008 09:10 PM UTC
Hi,

I will be traveling to the Maldives in a few weeks. I plan on scubadiving around Male and a few other islands, and I want to bring my dive knife with me. I really don't want it confiscated, but I don't want to dive without it. Can I safely get through customs with a 5' inch fixed blade dive knife?

Thanks,
Matthias

Maldives After an island with excellent food, service and sailing.
Posted: Thu April 10, 2008 03:24 AM UTC
We have been to two islands in the Maldives. Rihivelli was fantastic in 1998. Don't know if it has changed. The other was a bit like Fawlty Towers so won't mention its name as it may have got better. The best thing I could say was the service was amusing. Like all the islands it was beautiful which is the main reason we went.

For this trip we want "to die for" food, beauty and good sailing(meaning a reasonably maintained fleet of boats)

Budget is not important although not stratosphere stuff(this is our Honeymoon)

I am tempted to return to Rihivelli but thought there might another place equal or better (hard to imagine).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

Maldives Spending money
Posted: Mon April 7, 2008 05:23 PM UTC
Hi,
My husband and I are going to the maldives in may, For 7 nights, we have spent quite a bit on the hotel and flights so we are on a bit of a budget now. Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much money I will need over there? I dont just mean how much cash on me, I also need to know how much money will everything cost (To see how much I need on my credit card). I have seen similar questions, but people have only answered back how much cash I will need on me and that everything else gets charged to your room, but I need to know how much I need on my credit card for the bits charged to my room. Please if you could help
Thankyou very much!!! :)

Hi,
we are planning on going to Maldives for the first time in july, and we want:
Water villa, beautiful surroundings, a decent dive centre, a couple of restaurants, and not lots of children around. Any tips?
We will be looking to combine with a 1 week liveaboard so islands connected to that is interesting.

Maldives Honeymoon in Maldives in July
Posted: Sun March 30, 2008 01:40 PM UTC
Hello,

I am Ketan from India. Am thinking of an honeymoon in Maldives in July '08.

I am quite worried about the weather though. Does it rain a lot during that time?

It would be really very helpful for me if someone would tell me about the weather conditions in Maldives during that time.

Maldives Is it all private inlands and 5* spas?
Posted: Thu March 6, 2008 08:33 AM UTC
Hi everyone – I have always fancied the Maldives – beautiful beaches and snorkelling, but I don’t like the idea of luxury spa hotels and private islands. I prefer basic beach huts/cabanas or hotels, interesting local markets and local restaurants. (I like places like Goa and Sri Lanka) Can anyone tell me where you would go in the Maldives to find this? And also what kind of prices to expect for simple 2* accommodation and simple local restaurants? It can’t all be private islands! Also – in terms of weather – which months are the best time to go? Thanks everyone.
