Maldives maldives holiday
Posted: Tue November 3, 2009 09:50 PM UTC
hi, i have been wanting to go to maldives since a long time.

finally i have been able to plan it.

what is the best time to visit when the hotels are off-season and are cheap?

is mid-january a good time?

also, i dont know which islands to go or which resort to pick.

we are 3 people, actually myself, wife and 4 yr old son.

we would like to stay 3-4 nights. our hotels budget is 1000$ for 4 nights. can we get 4/5 star hotels at this budget.

we will arrange our airflight directly.

thanks for any suggestions and help

Maldives Sunbathing
Posted: Thu October 29, 2009 01:27 AM UTC
This may sound a strange question but here goes. I know topless sunbathing is not allowed in the Maldives as it is a muslim country but does anyone know if thong bikinis are allowed in the resorts as me and my girlfriend are due to visit shortly. These were allowed in Egypt and seemed quite acceptable when we visited last year but want to be sure before visiting the Maldives. Thanks.

How much did you pay for the speed boat transfer from Male to Velidhu?
is there an available speed boat transfer to Kandooma from Male Airport? Do we need to reserve or is it available straightaway?

Maldives Maldives in Nov
Posted: Tue July 28, 2009 06:57 AM UTC
We are booked for Maldives in early Nov. Our flight arrives late at night about 10.30pm. A few questions and concerns:
- Are the ferries from the airport to the main island in Male still operating at that time? What time is the last ferry?
- I do not want to pay $500+ for a night in our resort arriving at that unearthly hour. Can somebody suggest a budget hotel in Male near the jetty for us to spend the night on arrival? We can then take the next morning's speedboat to our resort.
- We are thinking of staying at the Club Med Kani but recent pictures showed that the place has been quite run down. Can somebody suggest some other resorts of similar price range?

Maldives Weather in June
Posted: Wed April 22, 2009 05:40 PM UTC
I was really hoping to go to the Maldives on 14th June, however am a bit concerned about the weather. I know it is monsoon season but have read quite a few things saying that the rain doesn't last long and most days are sunny with no rain in June? Has anyone been in June and care to enlighten me?
Thanks

Maldives Where to stay
Posted: Tue April 21, 2009 06:59 PM UTC
Dear VT's,
I am looking for some honest and helpful advise please.
We have gone to Patong Beach, Phuket, Thailand for the last 2 years and loved it there. This February (2010) we are planning our honeymoon and would like to try the Maldives for 10-14 days and then pop over to Phuket. We are keen to relax, swim, chill out and eat well; please advise us where to stay in the Maldives and all other info we should know about the islands.
Thank you in advance.

Maldives Any scuba divers out there?
Posted: Sun April 19, 2009 02:42 PM UTC
Hi everybody,

I have spent days reading and trying to decide on my Maldives holidays and I get more and more confused. To add to or solve this confusion, I would highly appreciate the input from other scuba divers on the following questions:

1. Which islands have good house-reefs?
2. Which islands have great dive spots nearby (nice coral and manta rays :-)?
3. What time of the year do you recommend '( I know there are pros and cons for every season)
4. Which islands are relaxed (no animation, I want to scuba dive and hang around, no loud disco, no 100-luxury-things I would not use anyway - as far as this is possible on the Maldives)?
5. Any recommendations for a one-week dive safary (boat, area)?

Thanks in advance

Maldives Where to spend the first night after late flight arrival?
Posted: Sat March 14, 2009 08:07 AM UTC
Hi Guys!
I plan to stay at the Club Med Kani. However, my flight arrives at night. Wondering if it is feasable for me to stay that first night somewhere close to the airport island? Since we will only need a place to sleep I am hoping for some place which is not costly (waste money to stay that first night in Club Me when we arrive so late). What is the commercial center of Mali called and is it far from the airport island? At least if I know the place with reasonable accommodations I can look up in the net for hotels.
Thanks!

Maldives The Haven, Maldives
Posted: Wed March 4, 2009 06:46 AM UTC
My wife and I will be going to the Maldives at the end of this month and it's gonna be our first time!

I found there is a very new resort... which is called the Haven. I then later realized that it is actually kinda extension of the Paradise Island Resort, and some of the Haven's Water Villas are actually renovated Water Bungalows from the Paradise Island?! Is this true?

Can someone here tells me more about this and have you ever stayed in these 2 resorts?

Cheers, Vic

Maldives Meeru Island - Any information For Me Please?
Posted: Tue February 24, 2009 02:37 PM UTC
Hi!

I have a holiday booked for Meeru island next March 2010. Yes i know its a long way off but this way I have a year and a bit to get worked up and excited, dont I? :D

I do love snorkelling and was told Meeru was good but I have since heard otherwise .. are there really no fish in the lagoon?? I hate to think I will have to grab a boat to see any sea life when I thought the Indian Ocean was packed with it?? Anyway your thought on that subject would be appreciated.

If anyone reading this has been to Meeru I would love to see some pics. So, if you send me your page after I have read it I promise to rate the content.

Thanks in Advance.

I have this difficult task to put together my own vacation.
Does anybody know were i can find cheap flight-tickets to the maldives from london?
Every flight prices i put together with my choosen resort, always make it more expensive, than if i booked through for example firstchice.

Maldives Vacation on the maldives.. but who should i book through?
Posted: Wed February 11, 2009 11:45 AM UTC
So far i think firstchoice is my best options, because they provides both hotel booking and flight to the destination, for a good price compared with the danish travel agencies (im danish :))

I have looked for other travelcompanies, but most of them are either to expensive or dont offer vacation for july 2009. (alot of companies are only book-able in a period ending i may 2009).

Do you know any other companies who arrange vacition to the maldives and make it possible to go in july 2009
?

thx a lot!!

Maldives MALDIVES HELL OR HEAVEN ?
Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 04:28 PM UTC
I spent so much time on the internet to book a vacation in maldives
I lost all of my excitement. The moment I ask a clarification to any agent
who cares to make me a proposal I hear nothing again from them. All they do is to send you outregeous prices and the cancellation policy and give you little time to pay. For instance I asked if the transfer rate quoted was one way or return and that was it. No more communication. Maldives resorts as well as local travel agencies like to work with travel agencies abroad and they do not want to give any time to individual requests. Is it worth to pay not only so much money to do 'nothing' but also so much aggreviation and apparently terrible service even at the reservation stage really the question I wish to ask.

Maldives B&B / Half Board or Full Board
Posted: Wed November 19, 2008 06:26 PM UTC
Hi, can someone please tell me whether to go B&B, half board or full board for a honeymoon? Obviously theres a big price difference. I understand Full board includes alcohol which is obviously quite attractive...

Does it cost a fortune just to buy lunch or dinner and therefore is it worth the money?

Further still, is a honeymoon in the maldives worth the £6-8k it will cost?

Thanks sooooo much,
Kat

We are going to Meeru Island Resort in December. Does anyone know if there is any surfing? I know that December isn't a good season for surfing but would it still be worth taking boogie boards with us?

Thanks!

Maldives 1st trip to Dubai and the Maldives.... Need help
Posted: Sat October 11, 2008 06:14 AM UTC
I'm looking for any advice on which island to stay closer to Male. Read good reviews on Meeru Island but travel agent says its run down. Anyone been there within the last few months? We are 2 looking for Jaz Land Villa in Meeru. Any one been there, which villa has the nicest beach and secluded but not too far from restaurant & bars. Is adult only best? How do you get the All Incl as no agent here can get other than Full Board? Will hotel upgrade after a few days? Reunited with friend from Yellowknife who left 25 years ago & lives in Dubai now so are visiting them in Feb and going to Maldives. This is our "retirement treat and trip of a lifetime"! Any other suggestions than Meeru? Really appreciate your help.
