Pulau Redang Fins prohibited for snorkling?
Posted: Wed July 16, 2008 09:44 AM UTC
Hi everybody, I am from Holland and have planned a holiday to Pulau Redang mid september 2008. After reading many posts in this forum on the weather during this period I presume that it will still be okay.
Obviously I plan to snorkel during my holiday, and that is what my question is about. Do I understand correctly that the (marine?) authorities have forbidden the use of fins for people snorkling as from april 2006? If so, I presume that it is also not possible anymore to rent fins on the island for a snorkling trip.

Thanks in advance for your appreciated advice, kind regards
Saabman

Kuala Terengganu KT hotels
Posted: Fri June 20, 2008 07:08 PM UTC
Having sorted out our car hire issues (Hertz- not too pricey - thanks everyone), I am now trying to decide between staying at Batu Burok Beach Resort and Seri Indah Resort. They are both 2 star hotels and cost the same. Has anyone stayed at either or can advise which is the nicer? We really want somewhere with a nice pool for our 8 year old son. Thank you.

Kuala Terengganu car hire kl to kuala terengganu
Posted: Tue April 22, 2008 01:28 PM UTC
Hi - sorry if this question has been posted a thousand times before! We are coming to Malaysia in July and I have got a 2 week itinerary planned which involves hiring a car in KL and leaving it in KT 3 days later (while we go off to the Perhentians). We plan to drive across to Kuantan, have a day there and then spend a leisurely day driving up to KT. However, I have just realised that there dont seem to be any car hire companies that have depots in KT!! Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks - Berni.

Pulau Perhentian Besar Alternative resort to Tuna Bay
Posted: Mon March 31, 2008 12:07 AM UTC
My boyfriend and I are going to Malaysia next August and want to spend 5 days in Perhentians. We wanted to stay at Tuna Bay as we were told it is the best resort in Besar but it is already fully booked, so I don't know which resort to book. I have seen Cocohut chalets and Perhentian Island Resort as alternatives but not sure if PIR is worth the price and if Cocohut will be comfortable. We are not looking for luxury but for a clean and comfortable place with A/C and hot water, near a nice sandy beach suitable for swimm.

I am also considering the option of staying at Bubu Resort on Kecil, but we would prefer to stay in a chalet ,not in a hotel room. And Kecil will probably be two crowed or noisy.

Could you help me , please ?

Pulau Perhentian Kecil Accommodation prices on Long Beach
Posted: Tue March 25, 2008 04:03 PM UTC
Hi there,
Pretty general question....
I'm thinking of staying on the island, most likely Long Beach, for about a month or so.
I was just wondering if anyone could give me the average cost per night, applicable to the cheapest and most basic accommodation available?
Thanks,
Loz

Negeri Terengganu Island / beach escapade
Posted: Sat March 15, 2008 04:40 AM UTC
I'm planning to visit Terengganu on the 1st - 4th May '08. I'm looking forward to just relax by the beach and perhaps snorkel a bit. Due to the time constraint, I'm unsure about where to go.

1. Redang? Perhentian? Kapas? Gemia? Which of these islands are the easiest to get into? I'll be flying in via AirAsia, and would arrive late afternoon.

2. Any recommended hotels or resorts?

3. How safe are these islands? I'm a single lady, travelling alone.

Appreciate the input.

Thanks.

Negeri Terengganu Perhentian without booking
Posted: Mon March 3, 2008 03:16 AM UTC
Hi Guys. I will be in Perhentian in June and I was wondering if it's going to be difficult to find accommodation if I don't book in advance. I went to Perhentian in 2003, didn't have any booking and there was plenty of accommodation available, but is it still the case?
Thanks

Pulau Redang Snokel for non-swimmer
Posted: Sat March 1, 2008 12:01 AM UTC
Hi I live in Canada and I am visitng HK in mid March. I hope I can spend a few days in Redang Island to snokel. Anyone knows if there are any air+hotel packages available in HK? I cannot swim and I wore a life jacket when I snokelled in Maldives and Phuket. Are life jackets provided in the snokel trips in Redang or I should bring my own?

On top of Redang Island, can anyone suggest other places in South East Asia where a non-swimmer can enjoy beautiful underwater world wihtout going deep into the water? Your recommendation is greatly appreciated.

Hi

Given there's no cashpoints on the island, I'm looking to establish how much to budget for my 6 night stay. What's the going rate for a decent meal & drinks on this island?

Pulau Lang Tengah Departure times for boats from Merang- Pulau Lang Tengah
Posted: Sun February 3, 2008 06:39 PM UTC
So after a mistake I made (I thought Penang is only 3 hours from Kuala Terengganu and we could take a bus ) which caused me purchase 2 extra air tickets and cut short our time in Penang, I'm now worried I made yet another mistake:/

We're planning to stay at D'Coconut Lagoon. What time will the boat depart from Merang to the island? Is there more than one boat? I read online that each resort only has one boat trip per day and I don't want to miss the boat!

Thanks

Pulau Perhentian Besar Kota Bahru Airport to Kuala Besut
Posted: Sat January 19, 2008 09:44 PM UTC
Guys,

Thank you for posting so much information about Perhentian, however I would like to ask how much does it cost to get from the Airport to the Jetty? What are the options? I understand that the prices for a taxi is RM40-50 pax and RM65 for the whole car. Is that true? Most-likely I will be staying at Tuna Bay and they have their own mode of transportation, should I opt. for that???

Thanks.
