Can anyone tell me which island has more fun? Perhentian Besar or Perhentian kecil?

Hi, any idea if i can get places to watch the sports channel when i'm on perhentian island? i'm going there during the premier league time...thanks!

would be grateful for some advice. Is it still ok to snorkell on Oct 8 and 9 or is it too risky with monsoons end of the month??

Hi friends, I'll like to know how much does it cost to charter a boat to Laguna Resort, if i missed the 3:00pm schedule time??

I'll be going on 19/4/2010, arriving time at the TGG airport is 14:30, estimation time to arrive at Merang Jetty would be around 15:30.... :(

Anybody know where can i charter a boat/speed boat for 9pax?? or, is there other cheaper option??

Teluk Dalam on the East side? Or the beach on the West side where Perhentian Island Resort is? Southwest around Tuna Bay Resort?

Considering the landscape, water quality, number of people/resorts around...

Are there any recommended tour/travel operators in Kuala Terengganu?
We are planning to travel from Europe via HKG and KUL to Kuala Terengganu and spend a week in Redang/Perhentian Islands in July 2009. We are not quite sure whether we should arrange the accommodation in Redang/Perhentians already when being at home or is it possible to arrange it at a short notice once in Kuala Terengganu? Thank you for your help already in advance!

can anyone tell if if the track between coral bay and long beach is paved ie. can we use a stroller for our 1 year old or will we have to take a baby backpack?

I understand that it is possible to hike form Pasir Panjang to Berjaya Resort. Is it possible to do it by yourself or is a guide a must due to unclear path and the possibility of getting lost?

me and my friends planning to look for a tour guide to bring us around when we are at pulau perhentian. do anyone had such experience and can provide me tour guide contact no. and also the price list?

I am interested in visiting Kenyir Lake but have 3 questions below:
1) Am coming from K. Terengganu. Are there any public buses to Kenyir Lake?
2) Are there any places to eat at Gawi Jetty other than at the hotel?
3) Has anyone stayed either at Kenyir Spa and Resort or at Musang Houseboat? Any comments about these places?

I am going to have my very first trip to Redang and the Perhentians in August this year.

Since I've never been there, it might be a naive question for me but... are there any health dangers I should be specially aware of on these islands? any danger of Malaria and Dengue from mosquitos?

as well, I heard there are sometimes sandflies that ruin your beach moments...are there any sandflies on any of the beaches in Redang or on the Perhentians?

i'm planning to visit Berjaya Resort in late Aug this year.
Have seen from other posts that Berjaya is far away from the main beach.
I'll be staying for 2 nights so wondering what else I can do other than visit the Marine Park and relaxing at the beach.
Is there any nearby places that i could visit or I should stay at Laguna instead? Thanks!

My wife and I are planning to travel to Perhentian Island in June. We would like to spend some time together. I like photography and would be looking at photographing our journey. We do not want to fly, but we dont mind driving,train or bus. Since i like photography, is the train route good? How long would it take by train.

I have no idea, how to travel from KL, all i know is i need to get to the Kuala Besut Jetty,

Planning to book at Perhentian Island Resort, is this good? Anything else you can recommend? Also, is June a good time to go? Would like to see nice sunset.

Hi, has anyone ever driven from JB to the jetty to reach Pulau Redang? I would like to know the number of hours required. I don't want to miss the Berjaya boat at 3pm (or is it 2:30pm?) so I need to estimate my time of departure from JB. Will probably stop once or twice for breakfast and lunch...

planning for a visit to perhentian this June.
booked the earliest ticket to kota baru to reach the island. now some important queries arised:

I have a small boy (will be 8months by then) and wife accompanying

1. is the boat journey safe? i heard that there are only small boats available with mostly open decks. would we get wet? baby? rolling?

2. planning to stay on Besar. is there a lot of mosquitoes? should i really be worried about the child's safety? maleria like attacks can be there? what about dangers from other insects/animals?

3. need a budget hotel, with standard facilities and security... are there available options?

4. food - do they have number of options and quality foods there?

Can one walk from D'coconut resort to the blue coral beach? How long is the walk?

I know this question has been posted a few times, but the are all a bit older.
We are travelling to Malaysia with our 3 kids (9, 7 & 4) mid July and would like about a week on a relaxing island with lots of swimming and snorkelling. I was looking at both Redang and Tioman - what are your thoughts on which one is better - or even any other islands that you would recommend. We don't want it too commercial.

G'day All,

i am planning a driving trip to Tasik Kenyir with the family and planning to hit Camerons Highlands after that. I guess that way is via Gua Musang and now the question!

My GPS is routing me North via route 3, 4, and then 8 to Gua Musang. However on my GPS i see a route T156 that goes west which links to 1744 which will hit route 8, but part of the road is close and there is a detour. Can anyone advise on the condition of that route?

as I got some days at end of March, I would like to go to one of the islands of Negeri Terengganu and having some dives there.
I've been told it's right time to dive there [would it be true?], as far I know monsoon season should be ended, but is it still windy with high waves? how about currents? and water temperature... I have to decide which wetsuit I have to bring this me, xmm?

do you know if there is a train that goes from singapore to kota barhu that is called "jungle train" that goes through the jungle? is it ok? is there a daily faster train than that, that does the same route?how can i buy tickets? thanks
