Car Rental in Israel - Insurance and license Requirements? Posted: Sat July 26, 2008 04:58 PM UTC
I'm from the US and will be traveling with friends in Israel for 2.5 weeks in Sept. We'll be traveling all over from Tel Aviv to the Galilee area, to Jerusalem, Dead Sea, and Eilat. So we're thinking about renting a car. I was just reserving one on a rental site and there are all sorts of insurances mentioned. Also it talks about license requirements, but it wasn't too clear.
So...my 2 questions are:
(1)what are the insurance requirements? (my credit card will cover the CDW/LDW insurance)
(2) Do I need to get some sort of temporary license or will my US license be ok?

Help please! urgent query Posted: Sat June 7, 2008 07:08 PM UTC
I am going to Tel Aviv with my dad and a friend of mine for 2 days.
It will be our first time there and as we are only there for 2 days, we realise we won't have the chance to squeeze everything in. However if you can help us with some questions for me and my friend:
We hope we might get some shopping done while there. do you know any good etc?
places for designer clothes (young fashion, not
classy)?
what are the good places to eat, where locals go to?
where do the locals go out during the day or at night? which cafes, bars etc
are there any sights we shouldn't miss?
If you could please answer by Monday morning cos we are leaving next week.
thanks

Religious Beach Hours Posted: Sun March 23, 2008 06:10 AM UTC
Does anyone know if the religious beach is open (with lifeguards) in April at all if the weather gets very warm? I had a very nice time there last June and will be in Israel again the first week of April and would like to go, but I can't seem to find any information on whether they're open at that time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Academy Award Show Live Posted: Mon February 4, 2008 09:06 AM UTC
Hey,
in the night of february 24th to the 25th the academy awards - "oscars" - were awarded. usually there is a huge tv-broadcast.
me and my friends, we are german volunteers and huge fans of the show. I'd love to see this live and we're looking for a place to watch (this is connected to my hopes that it is shown on israeli tv).
so if anyone knows a bar or anything else where we can watch it, i'd be very happy!!!
best greetings

Looking for room in TA Posted: Fri January 25, 2008 03:18 PM UTC
Hello there!
As I will be undertaking an internship in Tel Aviv, I'm looking for a single room/shared flat to rent from mid February through August. If you’re seeking a flatmate or know about a rather central and not too expensive place to sublet (roughly around USD 500 per month), please contact me via VirtualTourist or email me under princess.shishi@gmail.com
Your help is very much appreciated :)
Shalom & best wishes from Vienna!

A nice impression of Tel Aviv in just a few hours Posted: Sat January 19, 2008 06:35 PM UTC
Hi,
I'm coming to Israel for a Baha'i pilgrimage on February 3rd. I'm arriving in the afternoon (4:30 PM I think) and don't have to be in Haifa before 11 PM. So since my hostel in Haifa is close to a train station, I thought of taking the train to the centre of Tel Aviv (Merkez?) and get off there, lock up my luggage somewhere and explore Tel Aviv a bit before taking the train to Haifa.
Anyway, I'd be really grateful for some advise or even some company! I hope getting out of the airport won't take long (in spite of my Iranian / German origin :). I'd love to see the beach maybe or have a nice lunch or visit hip places like Sheinkin Street or Neve Zedek ...
So my questions would be:
- is there any luggage disposal at the train station?
- what should i do considering the limited time and how do i get there?
- what's the weather like in February?
Please consider that I'm a student travelling on a low budget.
Thanks a lot! I hope to hear from you!

One day trip to Petra Posted: Sat January 5, 2008 03:10 PM UTC
I was wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for a one day trip to Petra either from Tel Aviv or from Eilat. I am confused because there are so many options on the internet. Would it be better to purchase from israir airline package or Airkia airline package or would it be better to go to eilat first and take a tour from there? Also, does anyone recommend a tour company with a good reputation? Thanks in advance for your reply. JIM

What is the best way to get to Dov Hov from Ben Gurion at a reasonable cost in a reasonable amount of time. Thanks for any advise in advance JIM

New Years Eve Posted: Fri December 7, 2007 01:30 AM UTC
Hi all..
I will be in Israel (Jerusalem actually) for New Years Eve. It has been suggested that I go to Tel-Aviv for New Years Eve. Does anyone have a suggestion for where to ring in 2008? I would be looking for a nicer bar/club. Somewhere the young professionals would frequent.
Thanks so much!

Train from Tel Aviv Airport to TOP HOTEL Posted: Tue December 4, 2007 09:12 PM UTC
I am going to Tel Aviv in December.
I am staying at the "TOP HOTEL" located at Ben Yehuda 35. I am planning on catching the train from the Ben Guiron airport. Which stop should I get off and do I need to catch a bus or taxi to my hotel?
Also, I am catching a flight at 6:40 a.m. flight from the Dov Hoz Airport. Can I catch a bus/train close to my hotel to the airport at in time to catch my flight or do I need a taxi?
Thanks!

Taxi fare from airport? Posted: Sat November 3, 2007 03:30 PM UTC
Hi.
Five of us will be arriving in Tel Aviv at 9pm on Tuesday (06/11).
Can anyone advise what the taxi fare from the airport to Hayarkon Street would be?
As we will need two cars I am trying to work out whether it will be cheaper to book a transfer in a larger vehicle?
Thanks in advance.
