Curaçao Curacao to Bonaire and Aruba - cost and means
Posted: Tue March 11, 2008 03:54 AM UTC
My plans are to arrive in Suriname, from there go to Guyana, then fly to Curacao. From Curacao I would go to Aruba and Bonaire by boat. These are simply a rough idea of what I want to do, I do need any imput on how to make this work.

I am interested in knowing the best way to get to Guyana from Suriname. Are there any buses or trains that make that route, and if so how long and about how much would it cost. Id rather do a bus or train but if I have to fly I guess I have no choice.

Also, I know LIAT airlines flys from Guyana to Curacao via Trinidad. Is this the best way to get to the ABC islands?

And last, how easy is it to take a fiary or boat to each island, from Aruba to Bonaire and to Curacao? How about the cost?

Thanks!

Curaçao Wim StatiusmMuller
Posted: Mon December 17, 2007 05:07 PM UTC
Hello, I live in the US and am planning vacation in Curacao maybe next year. But recently I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to find (and buy) a CD with Antillean Dances by Wim Statius Muller. It's extraodinary music, I heard it only once on the radio and then I was able to listen to some samples at amazon.com (but they don't have these CD's in stock unfortunately). It looks there is no place in the US to buy it, I looked for it thru internet. Would you have an advice for me where in Curacao can I buy it? I will really appreciate your help. Thanks a lot - Magdalena

Curaçao Driving my Trinidad car in Curacao
Posted: Mon November 19, 2007 02:15 PM UTC
I am due to retire in Curacao in late January 2008 and I would like to know if I should have the packers include my Renault Car. In Trinidad we drive on the left hand side of the road therefore my steering wheel is on the right side of the car. Unlike Curacao where they drive on the right side of the road and their steering wheels are on the left side of the car.

Can I legally license and paint a sticker "RIGHT HAND DRIVE" and use my car in Curacao?

Posted: Fri May 11, 2007 12:08 AM UTC
I will be visiting Curacao in a few weeks with my boyfriend. We are staying at Breezes Curacao and just want to relax on the beach. However, we are wondering if there are any must-see places before we leave. I think we will definately go to the Sea Aquarium because it is right next to our hotel. I am also interested in a Day Sail... any recommendations? Thank you

Curaçao Scuba for to in Curacao
Posted: Fri March 30, 2007 06:25 PM UTC
My girlfriend and I will in Curacao 6/13/07-6/15/07. We are both students and are looking for very reasonably priced accommodations and to do a day or two of diving. Any recommendations on places to stay? Is better to do a guest house and rent from some place else or do a packaged dive resort?

Curaçao Local food
Posted: Sat November 18, 2006 06:23 PM UTC
Hi, I am planning a trip to the Marriot in January. I am not a fan of all inclusive vacations since it make me feel locked into the hotel's restaurant/s, however my husband thinks that this time we should. We are not into water sports and alcohol we mainly need to have our meals. Whenever we travel we enjoy eating wherever the local people eat. My husband needs three meals a day and I can deal with two, I end up having something light at lunch only because he is ready to eat.

1. How much pp would it cost (in US dollars) to have 3 meals a day in Curacao?
2. Please recommend three great non tourist restaurants. (The cuisine should be local not Italian, Indian, Chinese etc. unless their menu also consist of local food).
We may rent a car so distance should not be an issue.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Curaçao Honeymoon in Curaçao...?
Posted: Tue October 10, 2006 05:14 PM UTC
We just found out that family in Curaçao are going to lend us their weekend home for a couple of weeks if we would like to honeymoon there. It sounds fabulous however my fiancé did spend a lot of time there growing up but I'm wondering now that we are going on a honeymoon, are there a lot of romantic things to do, and if so, like what? Things like spas for couples, or fun bars that 30 something would like to go to...?

The cottage we will have is near Westpunt, so I'm wondering if there are cabs to get us to and from in the evenings etc?

Thanks for any information you might have!

Curaçao Resaurants or All inclusives
Posted: Fri July 21, 2006 08:48 PM UTC
Going to Curacao with my family 18 yr old son and 11 daughter and husband. Should we do all inclusive at the Marriott or can we eat for about the same price as we did in Aruba last year? My husband is picky, he doesn't like a lot of fancy, eclectic dishes with sauces, the simpler the better for him. Also, is there some place I can view menus with prices as i did for Aruba?
Would appreciate any feedback about this or the Marriott in general.
Thanks.

Curaçao Weather in August
Posted: Wed June 7, 2006 02:45 PM UTC
We are honeymooning in Curacao August 7th-13th. What is the weather like this time of year? Is it true Hurricanes avoid Curacao? Does the island get any rain/wind side-effects of other storms that may hit more northern islands? Should we expect good weather this time of year?

Curaçao mosquitoes + hotels
Posted: Fri May 19, 2006 06:22 PM UTC
I'm planning to travel to Curacao in early July.

What is the mosquito situation at that time of year? Are repellents, mosquito nets, etc. required? Any difference between Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao in terms of mosquitoes in July?

Also, I'm thinking of staying at Kura Hulanda - a few days at the Hotel and a few days at the (beachfront) Lodge. Any opinions?

Thanks in advance!

Curaçao Don't break a arm/leg
Posted: Sat April 22, 2006 09:47 PM UTC
Hi everyone. Thinking about going to this wonderful island & was wondering if anyone could give me any info on hotels & airfares that won't cost me an arm & a leg? (like to keep those, hahaha). Price range for hotel would be $100.00 a night or cheaper, but must be on the beach. I've looked at Lion's Dive Resort...very nice for the buck. Anything better out there? Also looked at airfares from travelocity & air jamica. Anyone know of any other airlines that fly there for a cheaper rate?

Curaçao Language in Curacao
Posted: Mon February 27, 2006 09:49 PM UTC
I understand that the official language in Curacao is Dutch.

I understand that English, Spanish, and Portuguese are also "widely spoken". Does that mean everybody is fluent in all these languages? Or would it be beneficial for me to gain a basic grasp of Dutch before I travel to Curacao?
