We are renting a condo in Negril for two weeks in March and were wondering about the grocery shopping. What kid of supermarkets do they have? Can we get most things that are available in North America. Which stores do you suggest that we shop in? Thanks for your input

Negril Renting house or Villas?
Posted: Sun July 2, 2006 02:12 PM UTC
My family would like to vacation in Negril in December. My kids are 23 and 25. I would prefer staying on the quieter end of the beach( though my kids would prefer the other). I would like to rent a small 2 bedroom house on the beach. I know there are beautiful houses on the cliffs but that is a little far away from the beach. I have found villas that are associated with hotels. Would like any advice possible about renting a villa associated with a hotel or renting a house on the beach. I have found it difficult to find a site for house rentals that have smaller houses. Do i risk getting hassles or theft is I rent a house not associated by a hotel. So many questions and very little answers. Is Negril even worth it?

Thanks Barbara

Negril Looking for low-priced accomodation!
Posted: Fri April 14, 2006 03:15 AM UTC
Hi there,

I scored a last minute deal to Jamaica and am leaving in less than 2 days! I am very excited to go, especially since this is going to be my first time in the country!

I am looking for cheap (as in around $30 or less) accomodation in Negril for a few nights. Basic, bare bones is alright, so long as security is good (I'm a female traveling alone) and the location isn't too far away from all the action. I hear near the beach is good, though parts of Norman Manley Boulevard could be sketchy in terms of safety...?

Anyone have any experiences with Negril Yoga Centre? I'm considering staying there and was wondering whether anyone had some experiences to share...

Please advise. Thanks so much in advance...I appreciate any and all the help I can get...

Cheers,
Panthea

I tryed to return your email, but I was told AOL does not accept email from this site.
You can email me at pirate_hideaway@yahoo.com
As for your questions. Sam Sara is not a 5 Star Hotel, but has a lovely location, with bar, restaraunt, pool, and scuba!
White Sands is on the beach road. And has units on both side of Norman Manley Blvd. Many of my friends stay there year after year, and I have never heard any complains.
Blue Cave Castle is my choice. A/C, Cable TV, new beds, and as a bonus, no bar on the premise, therefor no one walking in. Guests only.
Check it at www.bluecavecastle.com

Negril Vacation on a Budget
Posted: Sat November 12, 2005 05:47 PM UTC
Can anyone help us as we're going to CocoLa Palm in January
and would like to know where we can Eat/Drink on a Budget.
We don't like to dress up and go fancy but somewhere that it's
safe and fun too. Perhaps, a Chicken Hut on the Beach and a Cold
Red Stripe!! Not into spending $4-$5 American for Beers.
What is a Jamacian dollar worth in American funds.?
Are there any Happy Hours on 7 Mile Beach? Bands?
Anyone that has stayed at Coco LaPalm with any comments would help
us out a great deal too!!!
Thanks in Advance!

Negril Non-Employee Locals Allowed on All-Inclusive Resorts?
Posted: Tue November 1, 2005 03:05 AM UTC
I am planning on going to the Club Hotel Riu Negril next spring with my family and my sister's family. My sister's travel agent friend is discouraging us-- saying that locals came into the resort she stayed at trying to sell marijuana to her teenagers, and propositioning her daughter. My sister is becoming very concerned about the safety of her 10 and 13 year old daughters. We wouldn't let them walk alone off of the resort (or in many cities in the US either), but do we have to worry about harassment on this resort? Any words of encouragement for my sister who is threatening to back out of our trip?

Negril Aug. 4-8

Hello,
CNN forecasts Negril to be partly cloudy at least Aug. 4th and 5th. Anyone know how this translates to actual weather during the day? We were really looking forward to hanging out on the beach all day. Is it normally cloudy this time of year?
Thanks in advance,

My wife and I are planning to spend our 10 year anniversary at The Caves. We are torn between which room to select e.g. Butterfly, Macka Tree, One Drop etc. We are looking for a one bedroom deluxe suite.

Can any travelers provide us with any room recommendations?

It would be most appreciated.

Negril Mayfield falls day rip from cruise ship
Posted: Thu April 28, 2005 03:28 PM UTC
We are arriving to Montego bay in early June and would like to do a day trip to Mayfield falls. Two adults and two teens. What is the best way to see it? Is $70 per person for a local pre booked tour reasonable or even reccomended? We really don't want to go with a hoard of people. Many ports we find taxis can take us to where we want to go at our own pace and a lot cheaper but I am not sure if that is a good idea in Jamaica due to the last visit to Ocho Rios a few years ago. The ship has no tours to Mayfield anyway so I am looking for help. Thanks.

Negril Hedonism II vs Hedonism III - How do they compare?
Posted: Tue April 19, 2005 12:51 AM UTC
My husband and I are in our early-to-mid 50's, fit and attractive, and are thinking of going to Hedonism II or III in early July. We are into 'looking' but not swinging and we plan to enjoy the au natural areas of the beach and resort. If you've been to either Hedo II or III, can you tell us your opinion and how the resorts compare? Is there any pressure to partake of whatever? Thanks for your help.

Negril Explanation on Mayfield Falls...
Posted: Mon April 4, 2005 08:19 PM UTC
We are considering a day trip to Mayfield Falls when we come to Negril in late May. When I read about it, they state that there are natural jacuzzis and areas for swimming. Are these natural jacuzzis 'warm" or are they just like little natural pools. Why would they use the term jacuzzi? Do they bubble? I'm just wondering what to expect because we LOVE the nautral thermal hot springs and would definitely go if that were the case.

Negril Anyone have an update on Rick's Opening?
Posted: Mon April 4, 2005 08:16 PM UTC
We will be traveling to Negril for the first time in the end of May and we were just wondering if Rick's will be open by then. It has always beenone of those "to do before you die" list of things....jump from the cliffs at Rick's Cafe in Negril. I heard it was to be opened in April and would love an update from anyone who's been there in the past few weeks. Thanks!

Negril Legends and diving in April 2005
Posted: Sat April 2, 2005 09:44 PM UTC
I posted this to Jamaica and I guess I should have posted this here. Can't teach an old dog....

Anyway, my friend and I - both young 50+ females who have been known to party occasionally - will be in Negril the first week or so in April and plan to partake in some scuba diving, snorkeling and other watersports. As we are novices looking to get our open water certification, can anyone recommend any good PADI instructors and/or dive locations? We're staying at Legends so if anyone is staying there with similar interests and would like to swill several beers, please respond.
