Hello all.
We will be staying at the couples swept away resort at the end of april.
Looking for some advice about the local nightlife. And the best place to go para-sailing.
looking to hook up with another couple that have been here before to show us around. A little nervous about leaving the resort. We're mid 40's (old hippies.) enjoy partying, dancing and all the other fun stuff to be had. Need a golf partner.

I am planning a family holiday to Negril, Jamaica around the 27th May 09 with my husband and 2 sons aged 11 and 15.This holiday will be a dream come true for us all as my grandfather came from Jamaica so its makes it more special to us.
Could anyone tell us any info about the hotel which we'd like to stay at called clubhotel riu which is situated on bloody bay beach. We'd also appreciate any info about the weather at this time of year and how long we should stay for as we are not sure if we should stay for 2 or 3 weeks.

planning trip to jamaica Posted: Tue January 27, 2009 09:36 PM UTC
I'm looking for calm, swimmable waters with interesting bars and restuarants near the beach. We don't like crowds, spring-breakers, noise at night, or nudity. Is Seven Mile beach, Negril, a good "fit" for us? I really need to know if one can walk up and down the entire beach and swim anywhere, or are some parts private? Thank you for any suggestions.

So happy I found this site Posted: Thu January 1, 2009 11:33 AM UTC
Hi!
My friend and I want to set our dates of travel, aiming for mid Feb. Wonder what temps are like, water, weather ect. We will stay at negril beach resort. Kinda scary, there is not alot of info from other guests that have been there. Got a unbelievable price for room. I am concerned with safety and cleanliness, I only sleep in the room. I guess my questions are is this a safe location, should we not leave the grounds, walking ect,2 females.
The rest has already been found by reading other posts here,
Thanks!!

Use of hotel swimming pools and Facilities at Jah B's Posted: Fri December 5, 2008 06:47 PM UTC
dear forum,
greetings all!
we are coming to negril for New Year and wondered whether anyone could answer the following questions
1 we are staying in basic accommodation but would like to spend some time during the day/evening at a place with a swimming pool - do you know, can we pay a day rate at a nearby hotel or buy drinks or lunch there to be allowed to use their pool?
2 does anyone know whether Jah B.s has room safes and whether we pay in advance or on arrival and how we pay? credit card or cash etc. ? Jah B's have kindly confirmed availability but we have not as yet had answers to these questions
thanks in advance for your help, claire and steve (london)

How much cash? Posted: Thu December 4, 2008 08:19 PM UTC
Hi all,
My fiance and I are traveling to Negril in a couple of weeks to get married at the Sandals resort. I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions as to how much cash we should take with us during our stay (9 days). We will be taking our credit card with us for any purchases at the resort, but I do want to experience a bit more than just the resort while we are there. Thanks for your help!

Ride from airport to hotel Posted: Tue October 14, 2008 04:04 AM UTC
I see questions and suggestions on getting from the airport to the hotel and have another question relating to that.
We are staying at the Riu Negril. Our travel agent told us the transportation will be provided but is pretty vague in the description. Is it the Riu that is picking us up or do the hotels group together and give rides to all their guests - like one big shuttle serve with several people on the bus?
If that is the case, will it be a long ride? If I'm reading the map right, the Riu is further down the strip? We've heard from friends that went last year it's about 1 1/2 hours on the bus.
Are we better off getting a taxi and forking out an additional fee?
Thanks for any help!!

Beaches Resort Posted: Mon September 29, 2008 03:48 AM UTC
Hello, all the postings for Beaches Resort are very promising and positive. Thank you. My only question is what ROOMS should we stay in (like Room numbers or building locations). I've been reading a variety of comments from a variety of sources and am aprehensive about getting a run - down room. We have not yet booked our trip but notice the price difference between the basic room and the others is several hundred dollars, so I am hoping we can get away with just a basic room (two adults and 1 child),
Pleae advise.
Thankyou.

The Caves Resort and just basic Jamaican information for Future Newlyweds... Posted: Wed March 19, 2008 01:37 AM UTC
Hello. My name is John and I just have a couple questions that I want to throw out there. My fiance' and I thought we were going to have a Wedding/Honeymoon about a year from now. We also thought that the low months of the year, hurricane season, would be better to go because of the price.
We ended u deciding that we are probably going in August sometime. We chose the Caves Resort in Jamaica. Does anybody have anything to say about that resort or anything particular about going in that time of the year for that specific area (I know nobody can predict the weather, but im just curious is all).
Can anybody help us out with ANY information at all about the resort or the area of Negril itself. This IS our first time doing this afterall...
Thank you

Is 11 days in Negril enough? Posted: Wed January 16, 2008 04:37 AM UTC
Hi all,
I'm planning to holiday in Negril between the 17th and 29th of May this year. I've asked someone whether I'm going for too short a holiday and I was told that 4-5 days is sufficient. If that's the case, what does one do with the rest of the days? Are the other islands safe? I've got family on Negril, but if I was to travel to other places I'd probably go by myself, is that safe for a female?
I love the outdoors and so doing as much research as I want to make the most of my time there. Any suggestions?

time to check the south coast Posted: Wed January 16, 2008 02:16 AM UTC
We will be leaving for a month in Jamaica on the 29th of January and as usual we will be staying at Roots Bamboo Cabins for the first two weeks. We then plan to explore the Hope Wharf area for 3 or 4 days then return to Roots.. Has anyone been there and can you give us any tips on accomodations. We would like the cabin type of accomodations near the beach. This is my 42 or so trip to Jamaica and am interested in looking a little further into the island.Anywhere up past Bluefields is what we are looking for. Thankyou, Barry

Negril - Resorts Posted: Thu January 10, 2008 02:54 PM UTC
Dear all,
I'm intending to spend 10 days on march in Negril. we are in the phase of choosing a resort, but it will be our first time there and we don't have a clue. We'd love to stay in a Resort right on the beach, with rates less that 200USD per room, in a non-overcrowded area, preferentially with bungallows.
any hint will be appreciated.
Cheers
Jorge
