Ocho Rios Sunset Jamaica Grand
Posted: Thu June 23, 2005 09:25 PM UTC
I going on 2 weeks holiday on April 18th 2006. Staying at the refurbished Sunset Jamaica Grand in Ocho Rios. My son is getting married there. I think it re-opens about June 2005. If anyone has been there I would like any worthwhile information, ie; food and accomodation, service etc.

Ocho Rios JUNE HONEYMOON
Posted: Mon May 16, 2005 05:23 PM UTC
My fiance and I are going to Sandals Ocho Rios for our honeymoon from the middle to the end of June. I see that this can be a rainy, but hot time of year. How does this affect going in the ocean and pool? Are we going to be "rained out" and have to stay inside all day? Thank you!!!

Ocho Rios Weather conditions August through December
Posted: Wed March 23, 2005 05:04 AM UTC
We are planning our vacation at the Sandals in Ocho Rios. Is August considered the "rainy season"? If so, is there a better time to travel between August and December? I would appreciate any input as soon as possible. Thank you! Nancy :)

Ocho Rios Construction at Sandals Ochos Rios
Posted: Wed March 16, 2005 05:49 PM UTC
Any idea why Sandals tells everyone that construction is complete at the Riviera portion of Sandals Ochos Rios when its not - Here's some of what we encountered in March 2005:

Please take a look at the following link of pictures and the video movie to
get a good feel of our disappointment. To view the movie, right click and
'save target as' to your desktop. This way the movie screen will be bigger.
Oh and be sure to have your volume tuned up.
http://home.maine.rr.com/lnelson2/Sandals%20Ocho%20Rios%20March%202005/

The movie only sort of conveys the sounds of hammers - jackhammers - saws and air compressors. Definately a bum deal.

We went through 4 rooms before settling on the last one.

Ocho Rios Sans Souci
Posted: Fri March 11, 2005 03:58 AM UTC
Hi Everybody,
My hubby and I are going to Sans Souci in April. We are celebrating his 50th birthday! We are so looking forward to it. We heard the resort is outstanding, and the food and staff are great. My question, (I hope I don't offend anyone)is it hard to get ganja? We are smokers, but don't want to get anyone in trouble including ourselves. We don't plan to leave the resort. Does anyone have any tips? What is a fair price for how much? Who would we ask? We would greatly appreciate any info.
Thank you,
with respect,
~A

Ocho Rios cab vs. pre-pay bus
Posted: Wed March 9, 2005 11:09 PM UTC
A friend of mine and I are flying into Montego Bay in a few weeks. We're wondering the safest and cheapest ways to get to Ochos Rios. I've looked up booking price of a charter buse, though I can't seem to find price to take a cab or other forms of transportation to this other city. Is there anyone who can inform me of facts; so I can make an informed decision.

Ocho Rios Couples Ocho Rios - Damaged by Ivan?
Posted: Sat September 25, 2004 12:59 PM UTC
My husband and I are taking our first trip to Jamaica Oct. 30th...but I'm reading that electricity will not be restored completely throughout the island until mid-October, and that many hotels have been destroyed (esp. in Negril). How bady was Ocho Rios affected, and does anyone have any info on the Couples Resort (quality of previous stay, whether hotel is ready for guests, etc.) Your replies will be appreciated!

Has anyone stayed at the Beaches resort in Ocho Rios? We were booked for Negril but Ivan the Terrible has caused the resort to transfer our reservations.

Ocho Rios Renaisance Jamaica Grande
Posted: Mon August 2, 2004 07:29 PM UTC
My fiance and I have booked our honeymoon to Ocho Rios, Jamaica. I'm asking a general question - has anyone been there before? What was it like? What should we expect? How expensive are things in the area such as one-time-use cameras? Has anyone visited the Renaisance Jamaica Grande resort? Thanks to anyone who responds!

Ocho Rios Honeymooning at Sandals in Ochos Rios
Posted: Sat March 27, 2004 06:02 PM UTC
I basically have hardly even been out of my own state as far as travel. Now I am going to Ochos Rios for my honeymoon in Late May, early June. I am really looking forward to it but have lately read a lot about the crime rate and scary roads. Can anyone tell me if these concerns are valid and if the road from the airport in Montego to Ochos Rios is scary to travel? Thanks!!

Ocho Rios Renaissance Grand

I am interested in staying at the Renaissance Grande but would appreciate some 'real' feedback...reading the reviws on the other sites gets confusing...If you've stayed at this hotel before, what did you think? did you have fun? was it 'nice'?
Thanks!

Ocho Rios Beaches in Ochos Rios
Posted: Wed February 11, 2004 03:12 PM UTC
My family and our neighbors are going on a cruise in a couple of months on RCI line. We are going to Ochos Rios and have already done the Dunn's River Falls. We want to go to a beach locally. Are there any that we could go to instead of having to book through the cruise line and how do we get their?

Ocho Rios Would like info on exploring Ocho Rios without booking a shore excursion
Posted: Tue August 26, 2003 01:53 PM UTC
My husband and I are leaving for a cruise in two weeks. One of our stops will be in Ocho Rios. I'd like to explore the island a little without booking a shore excursion through the cruise line, but I'm wondering if that would be a good idea? Here are my questions: Is it safe to explore the island alone? Will we be able to access shopping and Dunn River Falls without taking a bus or taxi? Is there anything else that we should make sure to see? Any other comments/suggestions on anything? Thanks!
