| Cayo Guillermo | Water sports in resort Posted: Tue November 20, 2007 11:04 AM UTC
Hi
Im going to the Sol Cayo Guillermo in Jan 08 and wondering what watersports there are available at the hotel. As far as I can see it is things like pedalos. Has anyone ever seen anybody doing any kitesurfing there? Not sure what the wind conditions are like or if they would even allow such a sport with the marine life? Also, have heard that it is good to take out small gifts for the hotel staff. Any advice on what is in favour with them at the moment? Any other tips or advice would also be appreciated! Thanks |

| Cayo Guillermo | Iberostar Daiquiri in December Posted: Wed September 5, 2007 01:15 PM UTC
Hi - my ten year old son and I are going to the Iberostar in December and I wondered what the weather will be like then? I have looked on websites and seen that the temperature is obviously cooler than in the Summer, but wondered what your experiences of Cuba in December have been?
Also interested in excursions from this hotel. Thanks. |

| Cayo Guillermo | money Posted: Wed May 31, 2006 11:45 AM UTC
Im off to Cayo Guillermo on honeymoon in 5 weeks. We are staying at the Melia and I just wanted to clarify about credit cards which can be used. We are thinking of using them for booking the excursions. I have a Barclaycard and a visa issued by the Cooperative Bank and also a Tesco Credit card. Can anyone confirm that I will be able to use these ok.
Also, I have read so many mixed reviews about the hotel - has anyone been this year and have any comments? Also are there cashpoints in the hotel or do we need to take sterling to change into convertable pesos? Any advice would be welcomed! Thanks Philippa |

| Cayo Guillermo | Villa Cojimar May/June 2006 Posted: Tue May 16, 2006 12:35 PM UTC
Hi, myself and my partner are going to Villa Cojimar in Cayo Guillermo next week, 24th May 2006, for 2 weeks. I was hoping for some advice on the hotel, the people, trips, water and any Cuba Cayo's travel tips. And also could someone let me know what the weather is like at this time of year as there are mixed reports. I am expecting glorious sunshine with a bit of a downpour in the early evenings.
Is anyone else going at this time? Would be nice to meet some people...! |

| Cayo Guillermo | plug compatability Posted: Sun February 1, 2004 12:48 PM UTC
Hi,
I'm about to go to Cayo Guillermo for two weeks and will be taking my portable computer along. I've bought a 220 volt converter, but I need to know -- WHAT KIND OF PLUG ADAPTOR DO I NEED TO FIT INTO THE WALL SOCKET? (I am staying at Melia's Sol Club Cayo Guillermo. Are its plugs compatable with ours, or are they compatible with Spanish sockets -- or another altogether? Thanks for the advice. One other thing, the 220 v converter I got is for 85 watts; Radio Shack also sells one for 50 watts; I'm guessing the 85 watt is safest for a laptop -- a 1998 Macintosh ibook. Correct me if I'm wrong.) Cheers, Allan |

| Cayo Guillermo | cayo guillermo, santa maria or cayo largo??? Posted: Tue September 16, 2003 10:10 PM UTC
My question is in the title, I have to decide which destination i should go. In cayo guillermo, i would stay at the sol cayo guillermo, in cayo santa maria at the sol cayo santa maria and in cayo largo, at the pelican.
If someone could help me, i would appreciate it . The hotel is more or less important for me, i want an amazing beach with turquoise water and white sand. I'm 21 years old, so i don't want a place for families, i want to be able to walk a lot and find precious spots on the beach where i can be alone or almost. Some people told me the cayo largo would be better for me because it's very quiet and you can take some long walks and discover virgin beaches, but i'm a little bit afraid because of the ouragan michelle that destryed a big part of it in 2001 and also because of the price. So now i'm looking if cayo guillermo or cayo santa maria could correspond to what i am looking for. Don't remember that i want an honest answer and that finally, i want the most beautiful beach. Thank you! bebye |
