Holguín Holguin - baseball
Posted: Tue September 18, 2007 10:06 AM UTC
I'm in Holguin from 22 October to 1 November - could anyone tell me if there are any games, friendlies, charity games, warm-up games, junior games etc to watch during this time. I know the main league doesn't start until November but I was keen to watch something. Where do I find out about games (ideally in English) and how do I get tickets?

Help would be very much apreciated.

Regards

Holguín Which hotel do you recommend?
Posted: Sun April 1, 2007 05:01 AM UTC
Playa costa verde? Playa Pesquero?

Which is better for a familly of 3? kid is 5 years old; french speaking only, we (parents) handle french or english.

There is a $500 difference between the two...

Thanks

Is there a difference between the "bungalows" and the "villas"?

My friend and I are going to in March - ANY helpful hints - or things you MUST bring with you would be VERY helpful.

Thank you so much!!!

Holguín where to stay
Posted: Tue May 16, 2006 03:35 PM UTC
I've been to Holguin two times and stayed at four star hotels both times. i loved the resorts but i must admit i love the city of Holguin much more. i am planning to go again and i am looking for a place to stay the closest possible to the city. what is the clsest resort to the city and how long does it take to get there? because last time i've spent nearly $200 to travel back and forth. Also has anyone here stayed at the Pernik hotel, or other small ones in the city? please describe if it is worth to try it out. i'm not too picky about food or conditions as long as its clean safe and i can sleep at night and not die of food poisoning. what would you suggest for the purpose of staying in the city but with a planned trip so that rules out casa particulares.

Hello to all! I'm going to The Grand Playa Turquesa in a few days and I was just wondering if the plugin's are the same as in Canada? Would I need a converter of some sort?
Also, is the departure tax in convertable pesos or canadaian $?? and should we be exchanging canadian $ to convertable pesos at the airport....or the hotel?

Holguín Baseball?
Posted: Tue November 29, 2005 12:10 AM UTC
Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you have info on baseball in Cuba, specifically Holguin. i'm hoping to catch a game when i'm there from Dec 30 - Jan 6. the only sites I can find on baseball in cuba are either poor in content, or are in Spanish. I'm having enough trouble with the english language, and really can't see myself learning enough spanish to figure out what those sites are saying. lol

thanks!

Hi to those who may have stayed at this hotel...reviews are wondeful.I will be Heading there at the end of December.
I am curious though....as for currency...should I be bringing Cuban pesos, american dollars and Canadaian dollars...I have read so many mixed comments in regards to currency. And as for the hotel are there any towns near by? Anything outside of resort? Advice please.

Holguín Going really soon
Posted: Mon September 5, 2005 10:17 PM UTC
My question is in 4 parts;
1. My wife is pregnant, 6 mos. along, and we were a little worried about hospitals. Anything we should bring with us?
2. How expensive is the sailing there, what should I expect to pay?
3. How about cigars, would love to bring back a box for my father-in-law. How much and where to get them?
4. Any worries about hepititus? The water safe there?

Cheers and thanks in advance,
Greg

Holguín Playa Costa Verde
Posted: Wed May 11, 2005 11:50 AM UTC
hi there fellow VTs...!

my name's bill... i live near brighton on the south coast of england

my wife and i have got a holiday booked at PCV from 29th June to 13th
July this year...

it is our first visit to cuba and it would be great to be in touch with a
few "veterans" to make sure that we maximise our enjoyment

my e-mail address is wcdf@brighton.ac.uk

would be great to hear from anyone who was happy to help out - one preliminary question... looking at the resort map on Debbie's review site it looks like rooms 4111 to 4411 might be the quietest... does anyone have opinion on the "best" rooms at PCV?

best wishes

Holguín Breezes Costa Verde hotel, Holguin, Cuba
Posted: Sun January 16, 2005 09:12 PM UTC
My nephew is getting married in Cuba in December of 2005. My husband and I have never been to Cuba before and are excited to go to attend the wedding and vacation at the same time.

They are looking at the Breezes Costa Verde hotel in Holguin. I've done some searching for information on it and find that the sites listing the hotels in Holguin don't include this one so I'm curious about it.

Can anybody tell me anything about this hotel? Is it a good place to go? What are the names of the hotels around it? What is the service like? The rooms?

I appreciate any and all information.
