Hi all,

I heard about a Viazul bus that goes from the international airport in Havana to the center. Apparently it groups people who go to the same district together and brings you directly to your hotel or casa particular. Anyone who has any information on that?
Or any other way of getting from the airport to Habana Vieja, except taxis?

Hi all. Visiting Cuba for the first time in February for my friend's 50th birthday. The plan is to head straight out to Vinales on arrival but we don't get in until late afternoon so will miss the bus. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a taxi for 4 adults and 1 child and how much this will cost or would we be better off waiting until the next morning and taking the bus. We only have 2 weeks so don't want to waste any time. Thanks - any advice much appreciated.

I'm arriving in Veradero next Friday for a week. I want to experience the nightlife in Havana. Should I rush over there the next day so I experience the Saturday night there, or is there some places during the week that are good too?

I have a large collection of trendy ladies's watches AND jewelry that I am interested in both giving to my new Cuban friends & to do some bartering with. The jewelry includes both sterling silver & gold costume jewelry
(earrings, bracelets, necklaces, etc.). Does anyone think I should bring this along? I've already started amassing toilotries, kid's toys, school supplies, etc. for our November holiday and don't want to bring things the folks aren't interested in.
Also, are there beach vendors in Varadero who like designer labels? They did in Bali!

I am planning an all inclusive trip to Cuba with a few buddies in November and we are looking for nice beaches during the day and some good nightlife at night, but don't want to be around all tourists. I want to really experience the Cuban culture and people. What do you recommend?

Hi. Can anyone recommend a good place to stay for 4 adults and one 10 year old. We would need 2 rooms and are prepared to pay up to CUC 60 per room per night. First time to Cuba and it is my friend's 50th birthday so want to get it right. We will be staying in Havana for 8 nights so would prefer somewhere with some outside space. I have looked at numerous websites but confused with the choice of location i.e. Centro, Vieja, Vedado etc - some pointers here would be helpful as well. Hope someone can steer us in the right direction. Thanks.

I'm leaving for Cuba at the end of November and I'm still looking for a casa particular to stay in in Havana. I'd prefer an adress in Havana Vieja or Centro Havana (not Vedado). Anyone can recommend me a nice adress for about 25-30 CUC per night? Thanks in advance!

In a weeks time im heading out to windswept havana, trying to sort out a visa but realise you have to have a place booked on arrival. what confuses me is does it have to be a state run hotel or can it be with a hostel or a casa particulares? I would much rather stay in a casa from the word go are casa owners willing to send a confirmation email and if so does the embassy except it? If not can anyone recommend a hotel that is cheap and in the havana vieja area. Any help would be great, thankyou.

Has anyone stayed at Martha's Guest House, on Avenue de Los Presidentes in Havana and is it close to the Old Town?

My sister and I went to Havana in 2004 and I have only recently scanned our pictures onto my harddrive. I can't find, in all the tips posted here, the place where we took some magnificent shots of the entire city. It was a church (I think) but not the Cathedral, and we went to the top of a very tall bell tower to look down over the city and photograph it. I'm sure it was in Habana Vieja, but I could be wrong. Does this ring a bell with anyone who has visited the city?

I am new to this so please bear with me.

I plan to travel to Havana alone and would like to stay in an apartment. The last time I stayed at the Inglaterra and was not where I wanted to be.

If there is a family present that is not a problem although I would certainly enjoy my own bathroom.

I would like to be central but it seems the choices are either Vevado or Vieja....not Centro.

It's not the money...its that I would like to meet more Cuban people than tourists. I met lots of tourists on my last trip.

I would welcome any help and in return can help about The Riviera Maya in Mexico.

Can you give us info on how to book flights? And is there a ferry option if not? We can't seem to get anything right now.

Having listened to so much different advice about money matters, I am left confused!

What do you recommend: euros/dollars…? What are the rates? Which are accepted easier?
Should I exchange money to convertible dollars, or hold on to foreign currency and use them?
