Has anyone encountered problems with luggage weight restrictions upon entering Cuba? I found the following on a Canadian Travel Advisory website and am a bit concerned...

"Since January 1, 2007, Cuban customs applies steep tariffs for travellers whose
total baggage exceeds 30 kg. All passengers arriving in Cuba may be subject to
these new regulations, even though as of February 1, 2007, this levy was not
being applied to foreigners entering Cuba on a tourist card. Please check with
Cuban authorities for information on the application of the fee."

I've contacted my travel agent about it but they have not been helpful.

I'll be bringing scuba gear with me and am concerned about having to pay taxes
because my luggage will be over 30kg. Any information would be most
appreciated!

Help! I'm trying to figure where to go and where to stay in Cuba. Should I stay in Breezers, if yes, in which one? should I go to holquin? I'll stay for app 3 weeks, so time is not a problem -unlike being stuck in a hotel with newly weds and families with kids.. Tips welcome!! Who else is going??

My husband and I are going to Cuba in January 2008 - we have never been to Cuba, so we are looking forward to it!
We have booked two weeks at the Tryp Penn - has anyone stayed there, and if so, have we made a good choice?
Also, we plan to go to Havana for a day or two. Anything I need to know before we go?
We live in Canada, and am wondering if the Canadian Dollar is accepted readily?

I am wondering if I could possibly get some help from people who have actually been and have stories to tell. A friend and I, both 25 yr old males, are thinking about heading down to varadero on an all inclusive to get away for a week at the end of sept. My question first question is... what is it like that time of year? still a fair amount of activities going on? Also what is the night life like down there? we're both single, looking for a good party and are wondering what kind of adventures we might be able to find. Also, once we leave the resort, what kind of costs are we looking at for a good 'night on the town' ? any help is appreciated.

Could anyone give my any information on what the weather is like in Holguin in October, we are going to the Playa Costa Verde Hotel on 7th October for 2 weeks, and i have read so many reviews, but non from October holiday makers.

Hi everyone

Although we are not really into diving we do like to snorkel quite a lot on holiday and have seen some wonder fish and coral in the Maldives. We are planning on going to Varadero next July (staying at the Blau Varadero) and would like to make sure we can snorkel there and see some interesting sea life? Any tips or information would be much appreciated.

Hey everyone, I've been to cayo coco numerous times, and i've always gone w/ the familia, and we always went either july, or august... well a friend and i wanna go to Varadero in October to the Barcelo Solymar, 2 questions... we are sort of partyers, is it all familys? and is the weather *** in october? thats my biggest fear i dont' wanna spend the entire vacation inside due to rain and nooo sun.. need a nice tan to come home with :) anyone that can share info with me i would greatly appreciate it!

Can anyone tell me what the snorkelling is like off the beaches at Varadero?
Particularly around Superclubs Breezes Varadero.

Has anyone been to the Barracuda Rerstaurant and can tell me what its like. Food/prices/menu etc...

I want somewhere with beautiful beaches, but with lots to do. E.g, water sports, trips, markets and fairly decent nightlife. Which do you think is the best?

Hey im leaving to varadero april 5th and id like to know when your there do u get like a bracelet so that the people no that you belong to this hotel and for last i no its kind of stupid but do you tan alot there??

Looking for recommendations for a resort in Varadero. When I went in 2004, we stayed at Beaches, but I was with my sister and my aunt and uncle.

My boyfriend and I are in our mid-twenties. I'm looking for something romantic, but not filled with people in their 50s and up.

I was looking at Princesa Paradisus del Mar, but think it might be a bit old for us. Something of similar quality would be nice, but perhaps something a bit younger.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I, am photographing a wedding at the iberostar in varadero on 28th march 2007, and am looking to either rent or have present at the hotel a classic old american car in good condition to use as a back drop for some pictures.

How old to you have to be to rent a moped in Varadero?

We will be at Barcelo Solymar in April with 2 teenagers- any words of advise - what to do & see? any tips on trying to get great rooms?

Hello all. My wife and I will be in Varadero the week of March 3rd-10th. On one of our days I am planning to rent a scooter for the day and travel the areas outside of Varadero. Cardenas and Matanzas seem to be the most convenient to access. I was wondering if anyone could help me with suggestions on a spot in either of the towns that I could take my wife to and have lunch or even just a drink. We want to do this in hopes of seeing the real Cuba without any tourist stuff. If you have any other ideas I would certainly be open to hearing them. This is our 2nd trip to Cuba but last year we went to Cayo Largo which has no Cuban life on it at all and just resorts, it was great but this time we want to experience the real deal.

Is Canadian dollars used to pay the exit fee at the airport when leaving Cuba?
