Hello! I plan to visit Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kirgistan this summer.
I'd like to know if i need LOI to apply for visas to these countries in advance in my homecountry or there is no need to apply for visas in advance and there is an oppotunity to get visas just at the airport without LOI arriving to any of these countries? Thanks.

Kazakhstan Adventures in Kazakhstan
Posted: Fri October 12, 2007 06:51 PM UTC
I'll be working in Astana from January-April 2008. Two things I'd really like to do while over there (I might be getting additional funding) is:

- tour Semipalatinsk (nuclear test city / facility if open)
- tour Baikonur Space Center (and get to perhaps experience the Soyuz launch)

Can anyone tell me which tour companies I should look into? Best mode of transportation from Astana? Possible prices? Things to expect?

-A

Kazakhstan CDs and CD players
Posted: Thu July 19, 2007 11:30 PM UTC
My wife just went to Kazakhstan for a visit. She took with her some of her favorite CDs and a CD player to listen to music on the way there. Somewhere I read that she will not be able to get back out of the country with her CDs. Is this true? Thanks for your help.

Kazakhstan Bank Facilities
Posted: Thu June 28, 2007 10:04 AM UTC
Hi

Travelling to Kazakhstan in the near future and was wondering if anyone could advise me if there are generally ATM's freely available that will accept foreign cashpoint cards. Is the visa card generally accepted there??

If these options are not available, which currency is it better to take with you, local or some other currency to exchange there? Any tips on exchanging currency?

Thanks in advance

Astana Bus rent Astana - Oskemen
Posted: Sun May 27, 2007 11:45 AM UTC
Wroclaw University (Poland) is organising a student exchange with Oskemen (Ust-Kamenogorsk) University (Kazakhstan).
We will arrive to Astana on July 25th in the evening and we would like to rent a bus with a driver for 13 persons to Oskemen.
We would also like the bus with the driver to stay with us for 3 weeks around Oskemen (local trips) and to return with us to Astana on August 20th.
My question is if there is such possibility and what would be the total costs.

Any contacts?
Best wishes,

Almaty mountain biking in Almaty, Kazakhstan
Posted: Sun May 13, 2007 05:40 PM UTC
Hi, I am going to Almaty, Kazakhstan, at the end of May. I am a keen mountain biker and unfortunatly I will not be able to travel with my bike. Anyone knows if you can rent a decent mountain bike in Almaty for a week or is there some mountain bike fanatics I could contact.......I am not afraid of steep climbs and rocky single tracks. Will bring my helmet, automatics pedals and shoes anyway....
