In the second week of May I need to be in Tegucigalpa, Honduras on a Wednesday (9th). I am hoping someone can suggest a short trip that I could take, arriving on the previous Friday (4th) or Saturday (5th), and ending in Tegucigalpa on Wednesday. I am currently considering flying into San Jose and traveling by bus through Nicaragua, but not committed to that in anyway.

Other than the definite need to be in Tegucigalpa on Wednesday, I have no other requirements. I would prefer to fly into a major city to keep airfare down (flying in from Major US city), but other than that my budget is pretty flexible. I am also flexible to travel conditions. I need to book my flight soon, so any quick suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
Travis

Hi,

My wife and I are investigating a trip to Costa Rica early February for one week. I wanted to get some advice from knowledgeable folks in this forum.

We love the outdoors, love to self-drive when we can and at other times tour using buses, trains, and shuttles. We are looking to hike, explore wildlife, possibly snorkel, and also visit some of the ruins. If time permits, we'd love to visit some of the beaches and also some other adventure tours.

1. Is one week sufficient for us to explore Costa Rica?
2. If we were to select one or two experiences that we would immerse ourselves in over the course of the week, what would they be?
3. What cities are a must visit during our stay?
4. Any suggestions on possible itineraries would be great.

Thanks

My Delta flight leaves at 2:15PM on Tuesday, January 2nd going to Atlanta. It is flying out of San Jose, Costa Rica. The tour I am on says they expect to have me at the airport sometime between 11AM - 11:30AM (give or take 30 minutes for traffic issues), since it is a 4-hour drive. They say I should not take that flight because I will risk missing it. If I do not take that flight, I have to stay an extra day, which I do not want to do. I am a Diamond Medallion Delta member - do they have an expedited sky priority check-in lane there and/or a expedited sky priority security line there that might help??? What time do you think a good time would be to arrive? If worse came to worse and I arrived at noon because of a lot of traffic, do you think I would miss my 2:15 flight??
Thanks for any advice/input! :)

Is it a reasonable time frame to do some sightseeing around San José while being able to return on time to catch my flight? If yes, all suggestions and tips will be much appreciated.

Hi - We arrive in San Jose on a Thursday afternoon and leave the following Monday. Anyone have suggestions on whether we should book lodging in SJ & just do day trips, or are things close enough where we should get out of the city for a night or two (or the whole trip!)? Thanks!

I know, the proper way to get from San Jose to Santa Elena is via the bus that leaves from San Jose at 2:30 PM. Put I can't get a flight that arrives at the airport in time to make the trip from the airport to the bus station. Anyway, I already have my ticket--I arrive at 3:00 PM. So is there another way? For example, is there a bus that goes from the airport to Santa Elana?
My alternative is to spend the night and leave the next day, rent a car, or take a taxi for a four hour trip. I don't really want to do any of these.
I appreciate any advice!

I am planning a trip to CR to visit friends. I would like to take my niece to a ballet or opera or cultural event in San Jose during the Christmas time from Dec 27-Jan 15...is there anything going on? I noticed the Theatre Nacional does not list anything during this time period. Is the theatre dark during Christmas? We are willing to go to another village or city ..we are located in Flamingo near Tamarindo airport--so we can fly anywhere to see local festivities or theatre, dance music-- Thank you! sheila

We are arriving in San Jose at the Pavas airport on a Nature Air flight from Nosara at 11:30 am on January 9. We would like to get a Mepe bus to Puerto Viejo from the Terminal Gran Caribe mid-afternoon. How much time should we allow between these two parts of our trip? We would like to take the earliest bus possible because it is a long trip. I've heard the buses often sell out, especially on a weekend. Is it possible to arrange for a taxi driver to purchase our bus tickets in advance and then meet us at the Pavas airport to take us to the bus terminal?

We were in San Jose a few years ago and had a fantastic meal at a restaurant recommended by someone from the north...it was a combination of a wonderful buffet and also many kinds of meats served by waiters at your table, as often and as plentifully as desired. Now I am sad and embarrased to have forgotten the name...it was in an odd location and I remember the taxi having trouble finding it. Is this familiar to any Virtualtourists? I would greatly appreciate help remembering the name.

We usually drive our selves when on vacation even in hard to drive places. Is it recommended to rent a car when traveling in Costa Rica (we are only looking to drive from the airport to Arenal and Monte Verde) if so whom should we rent a car from. If it is really not recommended then how should we transport our selves (a family of 5) from one place to the other?

I came on the Tica Bus from Panama to Costa Rica. No official stamped my passport when I entered C.R. I am now trying to fly out of SJO, but the airport authorities say I am here illegally! What is it that I must do? I am desperate and need exact directions as to my next step as I am running out of money. Any help would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Hi all,
Due to business issues, I just had to change my flight out of San Jose to the U.S. to an earlier one, and now need to change my Sansa flight into San Jose to an earlier one. How much time do I need to comfortably get through the airport and out on time? Our flight is at 10:00 a.m. on a Sunday. Thanks.
