My Son and I will be in bali from 15th-20th march, just wondering if any other's will be there want to share costs on some day trips, my budget is limited.
We will b staying in kuta, close to the art markets.
I will be in Bali from 3/14 to 3/24
I need some advise..I have booked a villa by the beach and would like to spend most of my time painting there...I am not sure if I should bring my art supplies with me (such as brushes, canvas, paper, boards and especially oil, acrylics, and water color, primer etc...
Can anyone tell me where I should go to shop for these supplies in Bali and are they cheaper or a lot more expensive than Seattle?
If the prices are not too high I would rather not carry the supplies with me ...
Any assistance most appreciated.

Bali Wedding Posted: Thu March 5, 2009 06:09 PM UTC
Hi:
I am trying to decide on a place for my upcoming wedding. We are looking at Indonesia and Costa Rica. I have noticed the airfare to Indonesia from the US is quite expensive. Does anyone have any flight ideas or travel ideas?
Card or Cash Posted: Thu March 5, 2009 08:26 AM UTC
Hi there everyone,
We are heading to Bali on 15th March and are still weighing up whether to take cash to bali and leave it in the room safe or put it all on to a debit card and withdraw from ATM's as we need it..
Whats the best option??
I am going to Bali next month and have a a question about hiring a moped / motorbike. I normally do this if I am staying in Asia, but I have heard Bali can be difficult?
I do NOT have a motorbike licence in the UK (I taught myself how to ride one whilst travelling). I will be taking an International Driving Licence but it therefore wont include motorcycle.
Will this be a problem a) in hiring a motorbike? b) if I'm stopped by the police on one?
Also - is the rule different for a moped under 125cc? In the UK you do not need a seperate licence to ride a moped like this.
This is our (me and my husband) first trip to Bali and in fact our first international vacation (march 13-21). We are based in Dubai. Although i've read previous posts, but still i've lot of questions before, particular to our trip.
*We'll be flying by emirates from dubai to jakarta then by garuda indonesia to denpasar. we have boooked both the flights independently, it's not a connecting flight. I believe we'll have to change the terminal at jakarta and have to take VOA at jakarta, is that right?
*How much money should we carry?
*Our scheduled arrival at Denpasar is midnight, will it be safe there? we don have airport pick-up service from hotel, should we ask for it?
*We've booked All Seasons Legian for the entire trip, we'll be out roaming all day, so settled for a budget hotel. Is this a good decision or should we split our trip b/w two places? Don't want to stay overnight in Ubud and we want to spend the least possible time in hotel room.
*How's denpasar and surrounding areas for walking? How safe streets are after dark?
*Additionally, we're planning a day trip to Ubud, and most of the southren Bali is on our trip. What else should we see in our 7 day trip?

kindly adv if Sanur Beach hotel and its surrounding area is safe and if you would recommend it?
is it too remote? I do prefer a quite beach but if it is too quite i would rethink my decision.
Any idea how much a taxi would cost from the airport to this hotel?
Taxi is counted by meter?
Can anyone please tell me if the Puri Raja hotel in Legian has adjoining rooms(we are a family of 4)Has anyone got any recommendations for Legian hotels? W e have previously stayed at the Padma and the Mandira (both great)but would like to somewhere different.Thanks.
People here seem very knowledgeable about travel in Bali and so hopefully you all have some advice. We are going to be in Bali from May 21st to June 12 this year.
We are booking a few places, but we kind of want to play it by ear for a lot of places we go. In addition, we wanted to try some public transportation but I've heard they can be very slow and are a pain because of their confusing routes and what not.
Basically our plan for places to stay is as follows:
A few nights in southern bali (I booked our first few nights at Poppies in Kuta)
Head over to Eastern Bali (I want to do some diving/snorkeling at Amed/Tulamben)
Head over to Northern Bali (Lovina area and I have a place booked in Pemuteran for Menjangan Island)
Central Bali (Ubud and all the places around there)
Like one more night in southern bali before our flight
So, we may make some overnight stops in other places but something like:
In terms of transportation from some of these places...the biggest journey seems to be Amed to Lovina. Would it be possible to (without prearranging it because we aren't sure how long we want to spend in each place) pick up a driver in Amed that could take us to Lovina? Or would it be easier to maybe get a driver to Ubud and then take a Bemo/Bus up to Lovina. We've heard the northeastern coast can be desolate, so we would like to take a route through central area (Maybe up through the mountain past Banur Lake)
In general, as you leave the southern touristy area, are drivers/transportation still easy to find in the towns?
Also, what would you expect to be charged (roughly) for an Amed to Lovina trip, it seems like quite a treck.
I have come across this forum and it seems like the community here is very helpful so I have a question or two I would like to ask if I may.
I work for an IT Consulting firm and 100% of my work is remote internet connection based. That being said I would like to know the best route of staying in Bali for up to 6 months or longer for me and my family of 4?
Is this even possible for a non Bali Citizen? If so what options do I have available?
From what I have gathered the maximum time you can stay on the island is 6 months and that is IF you happen to already know someone on the island that is willing to "sponsor" you. Is there another way? (besides expensive visa runs)?
I understand reasons for visa restrictions.. but I don't have to like them :)
I suppose if I lived in paradise I would want to restrict the crowds myself.
I'm a muslim going to Bali twice this year, 1st with my wife & 3 kids (3,7&9) from 30th April-5th May & 2nd from 3rd-9th June for a Bali-Jakarta road/rail trips with my wife only for our 10th anniversary.
The 1st trip would like to stay 3 nites in Ubud & 2 nites in Sanur (or any suggestion?). Is it ok to rent a self-drive vehicle for the whole time in Bali or better still get chaffeured one? Can we know if the food supplied at the hotel halal certified?
As for the 2nd trip where should i stay to be nearer to the crossing to Java coz the train from Banyuwangi leaves at 9am and i was told the crossing takes an hour. Is it safe to travel on the train coz a number of Indonesian in Malaysia told me otherwise. My plan will be 1 nite each in Bali, Surabaya, Yogya, overnite in train from Yogya to Bandung, Bandung & Jakarta.

Hello Everyone,
I got back to Iraq from Bali about two weeks ago, and just wanted to say thank you for all the helpful advice and answers to my completely random questions.
I had a wonderful time, bought many souvenirs, got many manicures and pedicures, became an Honorary Australian and had a great time with my mom.
We usually stay in the larger style hotels in Bali but are looking at staying at the Puri Raja..I was wondering what the breakfasts are like and is it a suitable hotel for a family with two children ages 10 and 8? Thanks.
I will be going to Bali end of March, and I would like to stay in the kuta area for about 2-3 nigths, the rest of my trip I will stay in Ubud.
I would like to book a hotel in Kuta by the beach, my budget is 100 US per nigth, is it possbile?, I found the Inna Kuta but it seems they are doing lots of construction, is there anything similar?
Bali in June Posted: Thu February 12, 2009 08:49 AM UTC
Hey,
we're planning a trip to Bali in June. We have 14 days.
What we would like to do is arrive in Denpasar and immediately go to Sanur. We'd like to do the following itinerary (in this order):
- 3 nights Sanur
- 2 nights Pemuteran
- 2 nights Ubud
- 2 nights Amed
- 4 nights Gili Trawangan
Does this seem reasonable? Is it possible to do with public transportation? Or should we skip a stop? Please give us some advice!
Also, is it possible to just walk into a hotel and bargain a room, or should we book things in advance on the net?
Hi this is my first trip to bali and i would like to know if anyone can tell me if there are cash machines in the airport to change money. Also which beach is best for swimming, is kuta beach as nice as sanur? I am a single guy travelling alone and im thinking of where to stay either sanur or kuta, how long by taxi are these resorts from each other and how much would it cost. And lastly would i be able to get acommadation in either kuta or sanur for under 250,000 rupiah per night.Any replies would be greatly appreciated regards.
Alcohol & Bali Posted: Fri January 23, 2009 07:53 AM UTC
My 16 yo daughter is going to Bali next Monday. She's visiting a good friend, who moved to Bali with mother. Will my daughter be served alcohol, be able to get into clubs? She looks older than 16 & do not want anything bad to happen to her.
I've heard there is no age limit, but I've also heard there is.
Club benefits Posted: Thu January 22, 2009 11:03 AM UTC
Hi, Having stayed at the Padma twice before (and loved it)we stayed in a chalet the last time, which was very nice and will do the same again but were wondering what the chalets with the club benefits were like and if they are worth paying the extra money for? Thanks.
My wife and newborn baby will be travelling to Bali and staying at the Sanur Paradise Plaza in a couple of days. Wondering if there is a cheap and close place to get our clothes washed as we don't want to pay the exobitant high prices at the hotel. Also, is there anything to do around this hotel? eg. inexpensive places to eat, things to see, knock off clothes to buy. I've heard that the locals accept American money but is it better to have Rupias?
Any updated info in the Indonesian Pornography laws? I heard that bikini's in tourist areas were exempt, but does anyone have any further details, especially how it may relate to other issues?
