How easy to get transport from cruise ship port to airport, and how far is it

We'er staying 2 days in San Juan & I have reservations at Hotel Miramar & Courtyard San Juan Miramar (mariott? i think). Will cancel one but would like any input about the hotels. Also for seeing the sights do you have to rent a car or is public tranportation all right. Thanks for any info. Marian

I am thinking to go to San Juan in Feb. 2007. One of the possibilities is Embassy Suites San Juan (which is close to Isla Verde). I have 2 questions:

1. is it a nice hotel? I know it’s not right ON THE BEACH but is it close?
2. I know it’s about 7 miles from EL VIEJO SAN JUAN: how much a taxi would be approximately?

Hi. I'm looking for a restaurant in Old San Juan that is good for groups and families. I was reading about the Rico Puerto Kafe but thought maybe it was too small. Does anyone know about that restaurant or another that could accommodate a group of 23 people? We'd prefer Puerto Rican cuisine but would consider others. Thank you!

I'd really appreciate any insight members might be able to offer me into what Puerto Rican food is like. Is it similar to any other carribean cuisines? I've had Dominican food (not crazy about it as I find it VERY bland), cuban food reminds me of Dominican food, I love Mexican, Jamaican & Trinidadian food (all very tasty and they dont fear flavourings/spices). I'm going to PR on a business trip in a few days and am wondering whether I should bring along some seasonings of my own (as I do for DR and Cuba trips)...

OK folks, my friend Jason and I will be in San Juan from July 17th to the 24th, I was wondering if anybody living in the area would be interested in getting together for a drink or dinner or some site seeing or clubbing?

is there an age you have to be to go to the night clubs???

also what were some good resturants?

Does anyone know if there is a ferry from SAn Juan to St. Thomas? Or some other form of transportation than airplane? There are 2 adults & 4 teens if that matters. Thanks! Tlturner

Ok I want to know what goes on @ del morro now... like what events occur and what happens there?

I have heard there is a shuttle bus service from Luiz Munoz airport to the cruise ship dock but havn't been able to locate it. If there is can anyone advise me how I go about booking a seat. If not what would a person expect to pay for a taxi?

THE WIFE AND I ARE ARRIVING IN SAN JUAN A DAY EARLY MAY 12TH FOR A CARNIVAL CRUISE THAT DEPARTS AT LIKE 10 PM ON THE 13TH. I HAVE ALREADY RENTED A CAR, SINCE I FIGURE THAT BETWEEN TRANSFERRING TO THE HOTEL BY TAXI, AND TAKING TAXI'S AROUND TOWN 3 OR 4 TIMES AT 15 OR MORE BUCKS A THROW, AND THEN TRANSFERRING BY TAXI TO THE SHIP HAS GOT TO COST MORE THAN THE $80 BUCKS IT COST ME FOR THE CAR RENTAL FOR A DAY AND A HALF. I JUST WANT TO KNOW IF PARKING CAN BE FOUND PRETTY EASILY AROUND OLD SAN JUAN? IT WILL BE ON A SATURDAY AND A SUNDAY, SO IT IS A NONE WORK TIME. I HEARD THERE WERE 4 PARKING GARAGES IN THE OLD SAN JUAN AREA (I ASSUME FOR A FEE) DOES ANYONE KNOW IF IT IS TRUE?.......I HEAR PEOPLE SAY HOW CRAZY THEY DRIVE THERE!! NAH!! IF I CAN DEAL WITH MANHATTAN TAXI DRIVERS, THESE GUYS ARE AMATUERS!!! (if I can DRIVE it there I'll DRIVE it anywhere) ALSO LOOKING FOR A GOOD RESTAURANT FOR A LATE 50 SOMETHING COUPLE TO HAVE A NICE MEAL, MAYBE SOME MUSIC THAT WON'T RUIN THE DIGESTION, AND A GREAT PLACE TO HAVE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH!! I just found out about this forum! I just arrived here in San Juan (female, mid 20), and will be here untill monday Feb 5, 2007. I am here by myself, I rented a car, but am no experienced driver. Any idea's of which places I can visit (without driving to very crouded places, cause I just am getting used to driving).
I like beaches (but not nececerally to swim but more to walk and relax, and the rainforest attracts me. So if you have any idea's please let me know (safe places).

We will be in San Juan May 5th, the day before our cruise leaves. I believe that we will be staying at the Sheraton (Carnival recommended)they are also taking care of the travel arrangements, so we don't have to worry with that. What should we do to make the most of the time we have before boarding the ship, it leaves at 10pm on the 6th. Looking forward to hearing from you!!

Hi. I need to travel from San Juan to Santo Domingo on Dec 23 for 2 people. All commercial planes are booked, does anyone know of a small company either by plane or boat travel that travels between San Juan to Santo Domingo or Puerta Plata? Thank you so much for your assistance!

Hi everyone, I am doing research for my son who will be in PR in March 2007. Basically from the airport to the cruise dock and then back to the airport after the cruise, he is not actually staying in PR. He has an Australia passport and as such is entitled to a VWP (visa waiver) to enter the USA. Will he need another visa to enter PR or does the US one cover him? Also any info on the shuttle from the airport to the docks (which I read about in another posting)would be helpful.

I was recently in P.R. with my wife and we visited the barcardi factoty.I thought as my wife did that it was incritible,wonderful,beautiful.My question is that I live in new york .And I was wondering is there a way for me to make purchases of bottles of barcardy light and have them shipped to me?......Thank You.....Anthony
