Solo Solo --> Yogyakarta --> Bromo --> Bali
Posted: Tue July 15, 2008 04:30 PM UTC
Hi, please check my itinery and tell me if it is possible or not. Thank you.

1st Day:
Morning: Arrive at Solo Airport, Triwindu Flea Market, Klewer Market
Afternoon: Prambanan (Ramayana Ballet)
Overnight in Solo/Yogyakarta

2nd Day:
Morning: Yogyakarta (Kraton, Kota Gede, etc)
Afternoon: Check in Manohara Hotel

3rd Day:
Morning: Sunrise at Borobudur
Afternoon: Proceed to Bromo

4th Day:
Morning: Bromo
Afternoon: Surabaya --> Bali

1. How can I know if there is Ramayana Ballet at Prambanan on the day I arrive? Most probably be Wednesday.
2. For the 1st day, should I stay overnight in Solo or Jogja?
3. Besides Kraton and Kota Gede, any other interesting places in Jogja?
4. Is it possible for me to make a trip to Keliurang on the 2nd day before I check in Manohara?
5. I need a tour for Bromo. Any recommendation?
6. I will go to Bali by air. Which airline is the safest?

Thanks a lot! :)

Central Java Province Java island (West to East)
Posted: Sat January 12, 2008 11:05 AM UTC
My friend and I are planning our trip to Java island. We plan to travel by train from West to East of Java, and cross over to Bali. We intend to spend slightly more than a week for the entire trip. I don't know how to start planning for it. Need help with it. Here are some basic ideas that I've been toying with.

We'll be flying in to Jakarta from Kuala Lumpur. Train from Jakarta to Bandung, Jogjakarta, Solo (Surakarta) and Surabaya. Travel eastward, take a ferry to Bali. Then fly back to KL, from Bali. We're both cultural tourists, and would also appreciate the nature.

Things we intend to see:
Borubudur, Prambanan, few other candis, keratons.

Questions:
1. I intend to check out gamelan performances. Where would be the best to find it? I read, that there would be gamelan performances at the keratons at both Jogja & Solo.
2. Is there anything else that I've missed on things to see? How about events under the Visit Indonesia Year 2008.
3. Is the duration enough i.e. 10 days. I've been to Jakarta & Bandung, so I can skip those two cities if time do not permit so.
4. Is it safe to travel by train? I was told by a local that I should be travelling in a bigger group.
5. When is the best time to travel? I plan to go some time between June and September.

It would be good if anyone can suggest an itinerary. Thanks.

Borobudur First time visit to Borobudur - Many questions
Posted: Tue April 10, 2007 05:26 AM UTC
Dear VTers,

Am planning a 5D4N trip to Borobudur sometime August or September 2007. Will be flying in to Solo via Air Asia and have the following questions which I will much appreciate it if I could get feedback on:

1. How long is the journey from Solo to Yogyakarta by taxi and how much does it cost?
2. Do I need to pre-book a taxi or can I just get one on arrival?
3. Is August and September 2007 ok to travel in terms of weather?
4. Is 5D4N enough for the trip, taking into account that I'll fly in/out f rom Solo and would also like to visit Prambanan and Mt Bromo. The flights in/out of Solo are before noon.
5. Any good hotel recommendations that is clean, cheap (budget is USD20/room/night)?
6. Any trusted guide recommendation?
7. How much should I pay for rental of a car (for 2 pax) or a van (for 4 pax) daily with fuel/driver cum guide/insurance?
8. What else should I see/do in Yogyakarta and/or Solo?

That's about all the questions I could think of now and thanking everyone in advance for their invaluable feedback.

P.S. Noted that the forum for Borobudur is a bit 'quiet'.
